I doubt this game is only 7.5 gig.

new xbox 360 DL DVD's can hold 9 and some change. it will be a single disc.

Don't ruin the Sony Fanyboys fun now, I've been having fun watching them run around in circles smile.gif

Lol, sounds like an xbox fanboy but yeah 9 gigs sure it will be under 10 gigs, I'd bet my ass it's going to be around 20-30.

Also for size comparison la noire was on three discs yet the map was only seven miles by seven miles.

Skyrim managed to fit it's entire map, all the dungeons, multiple cities and plenty of dialogue all on one disc, granted it's not as graphically pleasing as GTA5 and there are plenty of glitches but I'm sure that if Bethedesa can do it Rockstar can.

Ps fanboy for life! Lol

OT: Gta V will probably be on 1 disk for the xbox 360 users.

think they will use the discs just like in halo 4, you first install every disc, and then you can play based on the installed data. I think they will also recommend that you install the main cd (just like in skyrim) for smoother gameplay.

even if GTA V has multiple disks, the second or third disc won't be a multiplayer disk (like in AC) because rockstar said that you can immidiatly switch between single player character and multiplayer character.

I think you'll still need to switch disks as I assume multiplayer will be put on disk 2.

Once again I point out what should be common sense.

Multiplayer will not be put on a separate disc because GTA Uses the same maps for multiplayer as single player, the coding for multiplayer only takes Kilobytes of space on the disc for the scripts, that's it.

Multiple discs with multiplayer on separate disc only works for games which have multiplayer maps that are different to single player maps (Ie; BF3, Max Payne 3). GTA is not one of those games.

Max Payne 3's multiplayer maps were campaign maps. If there are multiple discs, the map will have to be on both anyway. So it's incredibly likely that the first disc will contain the first 2/3rds of the campaign, and the second would have the last third and multiplayer. But it's a non-issue as we'll be able to install the game and not have to switch discs.

So many thread about this.

Why don't one of you send an email to Rockstar and ask them that? Say you need to know because your HDD broke or something and you need a new one and wanna know if it's better to buy one with more space or with less just to solve the problem. I don't think that is classified, unless they don't know it yet, but that would be too bad. "Ok start making the copies... oops we forgot about the space limitations".

Otherwise having multiplayer maps on a separate disc wouldn't have any point since the scripts hardly use any space at all, and GTA uses the exact same assests for multiplayer and single player.

Yes, but either way the map will still have to be on both discs. If you just split up the story, the map still has to be present.

Magic! orly.gif

OT: It would probably be 2 discs.. so half way through the storyline, it would require the second disc.

I'm hoping it's like Halo 4 where you have the main disc and the second disc for 'content' the contest disc gave you access to multiplayer from disc one when installed, and if you uninstalled it you couldn't go to multiplayer. Hopefully it's like that or else that's gunna suck

"Please insert disc 2" that's how. bored.gif

L.A Noire had 3 discs due to the motion capture stuff.

I don't mind having multiple discs but it might be a bit difficult to find a system that works with the gta story.

I think it could work much like Battlefield 3, released the game with low res textures and you download the high res textures for "optimal visuals." However, instead of doing it online, it could come with a second disk that was install only for the higher resolution textures. Texture detail takes up a sh*t load of space when using it on a space as big as GTAV, so doing an install whether from a second disk or by download on live would be the only work around having to swap disk. If all you have is a 20 gig Hard drive for the old 360, depending on what you already have installed on it, you will have to free up some space, play with less detailed textures or invest in a bigger hard drive to install what will prob be a pretty massive file.

This method is being used more and more, it is the evolution of delivering media. In time it will be standard especially with cloud storage on the rise and more games releasing simultaneous digital versions of games on the market place eventually pushing physical media to the side much like MP3s did to CDs. So an install is pretty much inevitable with GTAV.
