Hopefully they have three rap stations

2Chainzzzz!!!! Radio: 2Chainz is the radio host

Contains mainstream bullsh*t and other wack rappers including Tyler the Creator

Radio Los Santos:

Contains good modern rap music from Kendrick, Hopsin, Jay Rock, New Ice Cube songs ect.

The LS Classics:

Contains old school rap and gangsta rap with Eazy-E, Old Ice Cube, Old Snoop and Dre, Compton's Most Wanted songs ect.

Tyler isnt mainstream. You have to put Kendrick in the Mainstream category if you are talking about "mainstream". Trust me i love Kendrick, but he is mainstream now.

The question is does "mainstream" necessarily means bad ? I think people confuse commercial\politically correct rap with mainstream rap cause it doesn't mean bad if you hear the song on the radio IMO

Well if you're going off of substance mostly mainstream is contained with popping molly's, f*cking women, having tons of money, and overall just winning at life I guess. Kendrick sometimes drifts into there (minus the molly), but with most of his songs there's a message in there. Section.80 is a prime example. There's some songs off of GKMC that have a good message too.

Sometimes i really don't care about the lyrics i just want some feel good music bumping in the ride car-music if you prefer......Waka knows he's not the best lyricist but he has some of the best producers working with him......Anyways to each their own if everyone liked the same thing the music business would be boring AF

f*cking honkey ass suburban kids are all angry because their damn Neil Young-folk rock sh*t and model trains isn't going to be in it. People (honkies) see a rapper and think "yer iz deffanantly gon be a ni**er rappin bout money n gurliez! shhh! now b quiet, weel of fortune iz on! howdyy yyyeeeea!"

very racist.

So what? When it comes to jokes about black and latinos it's always, "HAHAHAHAA! AMERICA! DA USA!" or "hahaha! blasted c*nts! tea and crumpets!!! wheres da dentist? o wait! screw it!"

What do you call Australians in da US of A?

See but that's the problem. When kids hear music from their favorite artist and it's about that then it gets all messed up and they want to be like that. Having 50 half naked girls around them, driving fast cars, having tons of money. It poisons the youth into thinking they can live that life and some of them never hear the real music of struggle, living life just to get by, and always running into problems. It gives them a wrong perspective on life. Yes I understand sometimes you just wanna hear a catchy song but most people are struggling through the day and would rather listen to something they can relate to instead of hearing the mainstream party stuff.

Hey atleast it's not sexist jokes like when someone introduces themselves. You know, like when people join a forum, make a topic introducing themselves, and a bunch of mid-twenty or early-thirty year old honks and brits make sexist jokes about them.

Well he has some songs out there that actually do manage to get out a good message like "Answer". I wouldn't let a kid that has no idea what he's talking about listen to him but in the ears of a person that can think for himself. I know some kids can take the whole "f*ck and rape the bitch" and not really take it seriously. You have to dive deep into the lyrics and understand what it's about, the message is really up to you on how you receive it. There's a lot of opinions of a songs meaning.

So music where people rap about the non mainstream stuff (Pussy money & weed) is bad music? Their raps are actually about real things, about life, look at earl sweatshirt (one of them from odd future) his music is the realist, bout how bad his life was etc... there music is actually about real struggles.

Ok, first thing hotshot, did I ever say anything about the lyrical content in the rap I listen to, or what my preferences are? No, I didn't. I said I listen to a lot of everything. Some of it's great, some's tolerable, some of it sucks (most of the time I'm listening to music it's while I'm at work, and it's internet streams). What are your "real struggles?" The subjective things in your life? Cool, go listen to it yourself and don't fault other people for not relating to it.

Here's some excerpts from this lyrical genius (I grabbed the lyrics online, so not guaranteed accurate):

I'm a f*ckin' walkin' paradox, no I'm not

Threesomes with a f*ckin' triceratops, Reptar

I'll crash that f*ckin' airplane that fa**ot nigga B.o.B is in

And stab Bruno Mars in his goddamn esophagus

All I want, f*ck money, diamonds and bitches, don't need 'em

But where the fat ones at? I got somethin' to feed 'em

Oh, man! These things definitely reflect the struggles in my life!

Why is his music stupid crap? Just curious

See above, but I'll be more articulate with you since you don't come off as some pissy teenager. Most of his lyrics seem like randomly strung-together nonsensical pop culture references, aimed at relating to teenagers while also trying to prove he's more badass than the next person. If there's any "message" in his music, it's buried underneath so much of this nonsense that maybe I'm too old and jaded (by the way, I'm 24) to understand it.

For anyone else who wants to war with the people who don't like this kid, deal with it. We don't like his music.

Don't really like Tyler, but check this link out to show how the whole sing is a paradox.

If it's true, then they should've had Hopsin instead.

What? Cause they got Tyler the Creator means they should of had a completely different one instead?

For anyone else who wants to war with the people who don't like this kid, deal with it. We don't like his music.

Btw, his lyrics have more background than you think.

"I'm a f*cking walking paradox, no I'm not."

Since Tyler always wears dockers khaki shorts, this line could also mean pair of docks (like pair of pants) instead of paradox.

Tyler says that he is talking to his alter ego Wolf Haley. Wolf is the one claiming to be a walking paradox, Tyler is resisting.

A paradox is a contradicting but true statement, he claims to be a walking paradox, then he contradicts that statement, because he is not literally a walking paradox.

One of the face-value meanings is referring directly to Tyler’s personality, which is notoriously paradoxical. For example, some aspects of Tyler’s persona as alluded to in his lyrics play to gratuitous black stereotypes, so much so that ultra-P.C. journalists have pegged him with accusations of minstrelsy (it’s worth noting that most of these critics are white).

On the other hand, Tyler’s personality radically defies black stereotypes in many ways; for example, Tyler loves bands like Joy Division, Sonic Youth, Liar and other non-black music.

Also, contrasting his misanthropy, sadism, existential angst and ambiguous mental illness is the carefree, even optimistic attitude revealed in songs like Parade as well as his outspoken love of kitty cats, unicorns and Cartoon Network.

Further, he portrays himself as a venomous, homicidal misogynist, yet his romantic confessions revealed in songs like Her portray him as tender-hearted and loveshy, only putting up a hyper-masculine front to shield his vulnerability.

On another note, it’s interesting to note the philosophical implications of Tyler’s affinity for paradoxes, especially in light of Christian existentialist philosopher Soren Kierkegaard who asserted that only through realization of the essential paradox of human existence (that human rationality alone is not sufficient to apprehend the full scope of transcendental truth) can human beings live authentically.

Interestingly enough, in his work Philosophical Fragments he elaborated that the human subject becomes a paradox upon realizing that his/her inherent nature is in direct opposition to that of God, but does not (or hasn’t yet) made the Christian leap of faith by which religious transcendence may be attained.

As described in his prominent work Fear and Trembling, Kierkegaard’s religiously transformed man (or knight of faith) is still essentially paradoxical, but has overcome the state of literally being a paradox through the process of teleological suspension.

Because Tyler is an atheist and vehemently rejects (disses) Jesus but is painstakingly awarene of his own human frailty (sort of affirming noted atheist/nihilist Friedrich Nietzsche’s suspicion that human existence is cosmically superfluous in the wake of God’s death), Tyler is a f*cking walking paradox both in a literal and Kierkegaardian sense…

I’m a f*ck

King

Wall King

Pair of dice

—No, I’m “Not”

“I am less than what I am”

Apparently, this fact endows Tyler with the opportunity to be best, i.e. at your lowest, the idea of the king is immediate

Wall King I guess is an encapsulation of the crux of the idea of in/out. Specifically, an ideogrammatic exemplification of the dialogue “Phaedrus,” where the speakers (a young and old man) leaf the city. They are beyond the wall (and hilariously try to top one another to be top dog). In time, “Phaedrus” became a sorta of prophecy for Plato’s student Aristotle, a perrypatetic (someone who walks around and thinks).

Paradox can be broken down; “Pair o' dox,” which sounds like shoes (back to pt. 3), but its damn close to ‘pair of dice.’ The pair can be a number of historical writers in conversation (like Plato and Aristotle above mentioned). Perhaps it is Nietzsche and Kierkegaard. Who knows when it comes to Tyler. Even more, it can be a reference to Pavement’s “Summer Babe” (phonetiquettly, ‘Some Mer-babe’) by ‘ice.’

The above mentioned points are then commentated upon by Tyler in a classic paradoxical manner of Shakespeare. In this case, he call himself “Not” in the fashion of “Twelfth Night,” wherein the reader can, at their own discretion, cut up the dialogue to sound as if little notes are being sent to you. So at times, the reader can learn something about the base structure of the writer’s thought (i.e. ‘what is the logical grammar of one writer thinking for multiple characters?’). Should pt. 4 indeed be referring to Nietzsche, this gets even stranger, as he himself had taken advantage of this Shakespearian trope from “Twelfth Night.”

There’s a lot of stuff in his head, and he’s not talking about himself so much as the things he mistakes himself for.

No gang-signs where none intended.

For those who don't know...

Not my favorite, but better than 99% of modern sh*t people dare call "rap" now a days. Stick to the classics, people.

Agree.

Little OT: I hope they add a underground rap radio station, with some locals most of us have never heard of.

Anyways, it's pointless when you take lyrics out of context. You can do this with any rapper. Just name one and I'll break down some of their stupid lyrics.

I'm just quoting this post to respond to the people arguing about me taking lyrics out of context because I'm too lazy to string them all together and respond sequentially to each one (and I'm not specifically targeting BlackNoise).

I know I only inserted a few lines "out of context," and from only one song for that matter. The lyrics I quoted support my point; that is, I feel most of his words are nonsensical pop culture references smashed together as an attempt to look clever. The people who claim he has some higher "message" in his music are unable to provide me any of evidence of that beyond "you just need to look deeper, man" and some hackneyed philosophical BS. In my original post (which I'm questioning if some people challenging me even read the entire thing) I said that if people can relate to his "message," then that's cool and they can listen to it.

But don't try to convince me this kid is some lyrical genius superstar given the content of some of his lyrics. Telling me he doesn't get mixed up talking about the "typical" rap stuff (money, women, etc.), when he raps about "having something to feed" the "fat bitches" with and referring to other artists as "fa**ots"? Are you serious?

I intentionally avoided naming particular artists I like or quoting/linking their songs because I don't feel like getting into a "lol, you like X, what a fag" pissing contest. But I also didn't post about how any of them are "deep" or better than anyone else, and then getting all butthurt when someone disagrees.

In the end this is all subjective and I have no problem admitting that. But don't look down on me from your high horse and invalidate my opinion because I "just don't get it." Some people see the message in Tyler's music, and admit the nonsense around it is fun. That's OK. I see it as nonsensical garbage so thick I see no message. Agree to disagree.

EDIT: Also, I don't like him as a person, either (as if people needed more reason to challenge me). I've seen interviews and appearances on shows with him and his group (crew? friends? whatever) that reinforce my view of his music. Specifics? OK. He was on that Rob Dyrdek moneymaking adventure "Ridiculousness" with some kid who I think was named Taco. It was a re-run, after an episode where the guest was Pauly D (of Jersey Shore). Tyler and Taco made Pauly D look eloquent and sophisticated by comparison.

The thing is, you can't compare Tyler's lyrics which are much more comedic than most of the rappers who talk about money and bitches. Artists like Drake or lil Wayne talk about that sh*t because they honestly think it's cool.

Tyler just isn't being serious, similar to how Eminem was back when he started. They're not trying too hard to be different. They just honestly don't give a f*ck. People call them mainstream, yet their music is nowhere near as popular as any actual mainstream artist who gets constant radio plays.

I would never call him a lyrical genius, although Earl is as close as they come. I'm not saying his lyrics have deeper meanings, because I don't really care if they do. I just don't think he or any of Odd Future should be lumped in with mainstream artists who only care about being "cool" and talking about what they have. More than anything else I care about lyrical delivery, rhyme schemes, metaphors, and word play.

Lyrically OFWGKTA has some dope rappers and the content of their lyrics aren't revolutionary, but they're bizarre enough to keep me interested. Sometimes I like weird sh*t and some of their songs are just quality songs(content wise).

Stop acting like you're the most mature person of all the people in this world. Stop acting like you're a canny ass bitch using long words because you think you're grown up. I understand you don't like him, but you and more people in this forum are a bunch of f*cking wannabe aced brainiacs, when in reality, you're all rotters who sit around all day in a couch possibly smelling of ass from the time being sat on from a fat piece of sh*t who's only adventure is swimmingly moving their hands down their boxers to scratch that prickling itch on their balls. I understand why you don't like him, but seriously? His lyrics aren't EVEN supposed to be sending a blasted message, it's meant to be comical, and at times, sensible about his feeling towards pop culture and his own life. But message? Do you think kids now a days give a sh*t about messages in music? Here's my message to you; THEY DON'T. If they did, do you think they'll be listening to Yung Monneyyy!!1!! Or that Drake sh*t?!!! It's not f*cking 1986 or some old ass date, get over it! If you were alive during those times, well get with these times! No more permed hair-dos, no more leather pants, no more eyeliner wearing men! And if you weren't alive during those times, too bad, you weren't! Stop making yourself feel more mature to get that mellow feeling of you thinking, "im frum 1996 but im gunna mak myself mor mature by listenin 2 metallic n da beetels n hating mainstreem stuff cuz itz new nad im frum lik 1977 or 1912!".

Geez....

Those lyrics are actually quite clever. It doesn't help that you took the lyrics out of context but in the actual song, everything that is said is contradicted by the next line.

LOUD NOISES

Apparently I struck a nerve.

I was going to pick this apart, but I'm not going to waste my time. Either you didn't read my earlier posts thoroughly enough, or my words and manner infuriated you so much that you sh*t in your diaper, and instead of processing the information you decided to just start hurling 6th-grade insults. Well done. I'm certainly convinced of your intellect.

That last sentence was sarcasm, by the way. I didn't want to cause any more confusion by using "long words" and "acting mature." By the way, that's how I talk (and write). Not everybody needs to pepper their arguments with insults and profanity to be persuasive. For an example of someone who can refute me without acting like a child, BlackNoise has conveniently provided it for you in this very thread.

Unfortunately I expect more responses like yours.

What contradicts...

Threesomes with a f'g triceratops, Reptar.

?

Also, Patriot, you should stop using words with so many syllables. Might make things easier.

I top out at however many syllables triceratops has.
