Hello,

I was just wondering what tv/film characters Michael reminds you of. This could be his personality, looks, back story etc.

To me he reminds me most of Tony Soprano, he goes to a therapist and also has family issues. I think it terms of looks he reminds me of Michael Madsen.

So what do you think?

Michael reminds me a bit of Neil McCauley from Heat. In appearance as well, until the voice actor was confirmed anyway. Reminds me of how Robert Deniro's character Neil would've turned out if he got out before the bank heist and attempted to live a normal life with his girl. I say this because he had plans to go to New Zealand after the bank job, which kind of kills the LA setting. I don't really see him having the opportunity or the motivation to turn witness against his crew as Michael did against the mob, though. The lure of his criminal contacts and getting back into crime so easily while still living in LA would've been a constant reminder. Rockstar have been referencing Heat since Vice City with the hockey masks in the robbery. Most of my favourite 80's and 90's movies have been touched on at some point. Definitely major appeal for their games for me personally.

Never actually seen Heat but understand GTA 5 will be taking a lot of influence from it.

I was just about to say the same thing. Doesn't really have a the whole family issues on point because of how Neil thinks.

"Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner."
But in all the points you pointed out he reminds me of Neil from heat. Btw for those who haven't seen that movie def should there's a lot of comparison to the gta series.

I can sense a Walt and Jesse-esque relationship between Michael and Jimmy

Micheal is practically Robert De Niro.

There are so many parallels between them. To name a few off the top of my head, the screenshot with Micheal leaning against the car is just like a scene from Heat (I think) with Robert De Niro, and there is also another crime movie with Robert De Niro where he shares a striking resemblance to Micheal - and on top of that in the same film he has a therapist that looks just like Micheal's.

I can point out all characters from heat that relate to this gta v. Michael is Neil(Robert De niro). And Franklin is the black male who worked in the restaurant but was on parole because he use to be a getaway driver for Neil. And Trevor is that crazy f*cker who even though resembles lynch from video game Kane and lynch. The fact that he didn't care or had remorse for human life, Trevor reminds me of the long hair guy who kills that armored security in the beginning.

I agree, a lot of movies that Robert De Niro is in seem to have a resemblance to Michael.

Wouldn't really work putting Neil in Michael's shoes given his philosophy on life and crime, can still see some parallels though. Would've made for an interesting sequel to the movie given his rules he had in place and how he would've handled them if he had a family. He most likely would've done as Chris (Val Kilmer) did in Heat and made it all about them. Easy to assume given how he saved Chris in the street shoot out. He's clearly capable of loyalty at the risk of losing his own life.

Analyze This. De Niro acts as a mon member who has psychologic problems and has to go to a therapist...

You should see it before you play the game. Not only does it appear to influence GTAV's story and characters like Michael but also it's fantastic movie as well.

I think it's on Netflix but I guess you could buy the Blu-Ray/DVD.

Maybe family wise but I don't think Michael is a mobster. I think he was a bank robber. And he with the witness protection program b c he probably ratted out others who were in his crew, prob. those who left him for dead and Trevor was the one who saved him which is why there friends. But only way I can connect Tony with Michael is b. C of there family issues. But I seriously don't think Michael is a mobster. And I think the villains in this gta v will be those he ratted out or his old drew members who left him for dead. Imo
