jamieleng
Is Far Cry 3 better than Just Cause 2? Haven't played either and heard great things about both. Depends what you're looking for. I'm only halfway through FC3 & it is great, but JC2 has a much greater variety of vehicles & terrain. If I had to pick one to just mess around in, causing havoc & not replay the story, then I'd go for JC2.

I have saints row 2, which some people love, but the shooting and driving mechanics are absolutely awful, infact the whole game is sh*te.
StepY0gameUP
All of rockstar games should do it. But you have prototype2, mass effect trilogy, bioshock trilogy, infamous 1 and 2, skyrim, far cry 3, and the assassins creeds (not the first one). Any of these would probably last you until release and are well worth the money. And are game with high replay value. You also got saints row trilogy, I'm not to big on get bored quickly. Jedi Master Tom
All I know is that you should definitely NOT waste your time on Saints Row The Third. It's just awful. I would rather play GTA IV over that unpolished turd, any day. And that game is five years old... But Skyrim, Far Cry 3, RDR, Arkham City, Hit Man: Absolution. While they may not all be a crime simulators, they are still amazing games that will eat up hundreds of hours of your time. Then before you know it, GTA V will be out. SkylineGTRFreak
RDR... Just... RDR... The atmosphere is simply amazing, it has stunned me so damn many times. I wasn't really a fan of that setting, but I was like "Oh well, just buy it and try it". It's like one of my favourite games of all time now

Druffmaul
Red Dead Redemption-Calling it GTA in the West doesn't do the game justice, but it is kinda that but it's the most amazing game I will never understand why anyone has an issue with calling RDR "GTA in the old west." That's exactly what it is. OP, if you're looking for a GTA-ish game to hold you over, I would recommend Saints Row 2 or Sleeping Dogs. Neither are as good as GTA, but they're pretty good in their own right. I wrote off SR after the first one, I thought it was terrible. But a couple of years ago I finally decided to try SR2 and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.

wwinterj
I'm currently playing Saints Row the Third: The Full package to scratch that open world itch. I've also made a pre order for The Last of Us for my more serious game fix. Not much else that interests me until September when Kingdom Hearts HD Remix comes out(13th) and of course GTA V(17th). LittleBlueTroll
and the assassins creeds (not the first one). Say whaaaaaat? The first one is awesome. The only downside is if you didn't play the first one first, some of the features that were introduced in later games make the first one feel a bit more awkward. But if you have never touched an Assassins Creed game, always start with the first one! And good to see LA Noire getting a lot of mentions here, i loved that game. Only 3 achievements short of completing it, but i just hate "Collection" achievements.

Durden
I don't doubt that this has been mentioned yet, but The Last of Us. Beautiful PS3 exclusive, but the real attraction is the gameplay. Very unique and satisfying from my experience with the demo. The game's a must-buy for any PS3 owner.
I<3GTAV
I don't know if you're into the strategy genre or history or anything like that, but I would give Civilization V a go. It has to be the most addicting game I've ever played, it makes time fly by really fast.

John The Grudge
I don't own a PS3 (I own an XBox 360) so I can't speak for the exclusive titles but these are games that I'd consider to be either essential or absolutely worth buying at their current price: Arkham Asylum Arkham City Red Dead Redemption Bioshock Infinite LA Noire Mirrors Edge Mafia II (You have to get the Platinum edition which includes the DLC) Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition (It's still popular online and heaps of fun, though incredibly competetive) Mortal Kombat - Komplete Edition (may also be listed as 'Game Of The Year Edition') Driver San Francisco Call Of Juarez Bound In Blood Max Payne

Well FC3 is fps, so it's a bit difficult to compare the shooting mechanics. I suppose FC3 has the tighter gunplay, but you can fire your weapons while parachuting in JC2 & the grappling hook is a joy to play around with. If you're looking for a game closer to GTA, then JC2 is your best bet. JC2 has free aiming like SR, but it's a much better game overall. In fact, the only thing that lets JC2 down, is the copy/paste map (which is huge), poor car handling and terrible story & voice acting. There are some seriously OTT & fun missions in JC2. Like one set on a space rocket launch site, where you grapple onto the side of a launching rocket, plant C4 & jump off, deploy parachute & detonate. Beats anything I experienced in SRTT.
