GTA 4 won't do anything after social club.

The title pretty much says it. GTA won't start after the social club, whether I click Play on or offline. It'll have the spinning disk, then the hourglass, after that it won't do anything. (I'm running Windows XP and I got service pack 3) I have the original disk copy.

In that case try to un-install Games for Windows Live and install this - don't update it, try first without update. In case that doesn't work try to install the Rockstar Games Social Club Update. In case it still won't work, try to run the game in Windows 98 or Windows 2000 Compatibility modes, and also as administrator.

Im pretty sure the social club is already updated, and I did the first link you told me to, then tried the game and I got the msg: GTAIV.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

And I don't know how to do the compatibility modes.

You left out A LOT of information that is helpful in determining a solution to your problem, and they are:

What is your Processor?

What is the Processor Speed?

What is the Video card?

What is the Total Vram?

What is the Dedicated vram?

Any Mods or Trainers?

Any Daemon tools or the like installed on PC?-These can cause problems with games..

Any Screenshots OR Videos to prove the error/problem?

Please answer ALL the above questions, so we can better help you..

Why can't people at least post the required information, so it will be quicker and easier to help them?

Right click on the launching file, Properties -> Compatibility -> Run this game in compatibility mode for: and select Windows 98 or Windows 2000. Do you happen to have the game from Steam? If yes, this solution may help you. If you don't have the game from Steam you could still try it, though I'm not sure if some stuff applies. Go for it, anyway.

Also, please DO take your time to re-install the game. You may never know, just image how glad you'll be if that fixes it!

Go to start, go to Run(IF XP)/Search(If Vista or 7) and type in DXDIAG and press enter. The first screen shows the processor, ram, OS information, then the Display tab will show the Video card information...

To post the specifications of your computer, simply go to Start, Run / Search (depending on your Operating System, I suppose you know this one at least) and type in dxdiag, then post all the information from the System (Operating System, Processor, Memory) & Display (Device Name, Approx. Total Memory) Panels.

Also, to post a picture on this forum, you need first to save it on your desktop since that's the best place. Now go to imgur, click Computer, browse and select your picture which should be located on the desktop, then click on the green Start Upload. Wait until it's being uploaded and then copy paste the link from the Direct Link field on the forums. Make use of the IMG tags to make it show as an actual picture and not a link. Use the code below (make sure that it's not too big):

[img=< imgur Direct Link URL goes here>]

And tells me if this works:

Right click on the launching file, Properties -> Compatibility -> Run this game in compatibility mode for: and select Windows 98 or Windows 2000. Do you happen to have the game from Steam? If yes, this solution may help you. If you don't have the game from Steam you could still try it, though I'm not sure if some stuff applies. Go for it, anyway.

Heres the error msg: user posted image

I checked the specs, and judging by what it says, it's not fast enough to play it. But how come it didn't say that it was incompatible, and not install like my laptop?

And sorry but, no, that didn't work either.
