GTA 5 PS3 & Xbox 360 Version Will Be Just As Good

We have some months to wait before we can get our hands on GTA 5, but the competition is already red hot between the PS3 and Xbox 360 fans. If you check out the screen shots along with the trailers for GTA 5 you can see graphics that look impressive and we for one cannot wait to get our hands on the game.

But what we were wondering is which of the consoles did Rockstar give preference to when it came to development of the game. So let’s take a look at the specs of the current generation consoles:

Xbox 360

CPU:Custom IBM Power-PC Based

Three symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each

GPU:Custom ATI GPU 500MHz

512 MB GDDR3 RAM

PS3

CPU:PowerPC-base Core @3.2GHz

GPU: RSX @550MHz

256MB XDR Main RAM @3.2GHz(main system RAM)

256MB GDDR3 VRAM @700MHz(for graphics)

Rockstar played GTA 5 at the NYC demo and the consoles they chose to play it on was the PS3 and not the Xbox 360. When they revealed Eight Days the PS3 was also the chosen console. Apparently one of the animators who worked on this also worked on GTA 5.

The games boss of Rockstar, Dan Houser did not make things better when he said that there was a larger audience on the PS3, when talking to IGN. He had the following to say.

Some other people talk about the limitations of the [current] hardware. We don’t feel there are that many limitations. We feel we can do some very impressive stuff and do it for a large audience. This felt like the way… There’ll be a much larger audience on PS3 than there will be on PS4. At a creative level, which is the most important for us, we could say everything we wanted to say and do everything we wanted to do on these machines. We didn’t sit there saying, “We’d like to do this in the game, but we can’t.” There’s plenty of power in these machines.

So would you prefer to play GTA 5 on the PS3 or the Xbox 360?

I'll be buying it on both though, since my misses can't play the 360 on a 360 Control "I know..."

I literally laughed outloud. They are saying a direct xbox 360 port for their ps3 looks great when its even running under 1280x720. Rofl.

Vanilla GTAIV run like sh*t in PS3 but since then they tweaked a lot the game engine and GTAIV: The Complete Edition (BOGT) ran perfectly fine in PS3, looked better too. (sharper, better textures etc)

of course in Ps3/360 it looks like a pile of crap compared to PC.

Because it wasnt a direct sloppy 360 port that time. This holds true with every multiplatform game vs xbox and ps3.... people get mad when its brought up but its the truth. They give the ps3 version a xbox port as its easier to code for xbox than the sony Cell nonsence. But i think for V rockstar will be developing for each console seperate.

IV Ran smoother on the 360. Google it.

I have it for PS3 and it runs and looks perfect! and don't forget Microsoft paid R*

They paid for DLC not performance increase. Dumb sh*t.

I never said that Dumb F*ck go back to school, they paid R* for there DLC and For it to be the lead platform! and GTA 4 on ps3 runs the same as the xbox.

Hurr durr, lead platform = better performance. They only paid for DLC.

That is why every other GTA game's lead Platform is a PS, so i think they did pay R* for it to be there lead. And it is clear that the PS3 version of GTA 5 is a little better on PS3 thats why they are showing the demos on PS3.

I bloody hope so. They did an equally poor job with RDR for the ps3 and if the same sh*t happens again i will be fackin pissed.

Thank god Xbox fanboys are a dying breed... can't wait until Xbox One comes out so the whole Xbox thing can take a fall off a cliff.

PS3 crept up and took power over Xbox. Dan Houser preferred the PS3 version of IV he stated in an interview that he preferred how the anti-aliasing looked on the PS3 and the slightly warmer look or something along those lines...

I'll bet that Dan & Sam Houser are both Playstation fanboys, and they've been showing V on almost nothing but Playstation, so it's safe to say that GTA V will run smooth on both consoles but they use the PS3 as their "default" console.

I have a ps3 and there was a noticable difference with the 360. Ive played it enough times on my friends 360 to see the reso was definetly higher than the ps3 version.

The only difference were details like grass and minor lighting differences. I think he was exaggerating.
