Why is "Wasp" one of the poll choices? I find this derogatory and racist.

no! he's definetly NOT irish!

and you know this how???

its very possible he is of irish descent,we dnt know as of yet but its possible.

hes not german that's for sure!

because to have a heritage you must have genetic information stored in dna.

pixels dont have dna

very good, 10/10 for observation monocle.gif

I will rephrase what I said, just for you wink.gif

It is very possible that the character of Michael in GTA V will be portrayed as a real human being who then in turn could be portrayed as of coming from some sort of family background or heritage, quite possibly Irish, among a few others.

ya know, how niko was portrayed as an eastern European,CJ was portrayed as an African American and so on... suicidal.gif

why be a douche, contribute to the thread or dont post

Mcreary is a Irish name so I'm leaning that way.. I cant understand why people are voting Italian confused.gif  biggrin.gif

Michael's surname is not McCreary as far as we know, so I don't how you came to that conclusion.

Hey mate, read my post again I did not mention Michael being a mcreary, I just said mcreary is a Irish name not italian dontgetit.gif I just think he is Irish not Italian angry.gif

I think that because you put two seemingly related sentences in one post, it was only natural for people to conclude that one followed the other instead of them being two random and unconnected notions.

As for your comment about African-Americans ? Unlike many other Americans, who can trace their ancestry as individuals to other countries outside of the USA, most African-Americans have not been able to do that, and for many years up until that few decades, they have been given derogatory names by non-blacks like "Negro", not too mention the more potent n*gger and all sorts of other slurs. To be called just Black is fine, but that just denotes a race of people, not their whole history and culture. Bear in mind Blacks in America for many, many years have been conditioned to believe that their history started with slavery, which of course is not true.

Many black people in America have a desire to connect with something that represents their heritage as whole, not just the something associated with their immediate slave history in the South. From that desire, comes the the term African-American which is basically a reaffirmation of Black's biological and cultural ties to Africa.

That is my take on it.

Ah fair enough, i wasn't aware that it was a term that black people actually used. I never hear black people use the phrase at all. I figured it was just one of those disguised comments that white people use to sound politically correct, when all they are really saying is, 'not real Americans'

Either way, i might start calling myself an African Englishman. It has a certain ring to it. It would probably raise a few eyebrows though...

WelcomeToLibertyCity

If they are basing Michael entirely off of Neil McCauley (which personally I don't think they are, although they share obvious similarities) he might turn out to be an Irish-American, but I doubt he'd be a McReary.

It used much more as a formal and generic term to describe Black people that are citizens of the United States as a whole, single group. The irony is that the term African-American generally refers to Black Americans whose ancestors have lived in the United States for several generations and descended from slaves imported from Africa during the Trans-Atlantic slave trade over a 300-year period, and they make up the overwhelming majority of U.S. blacks - they are as American as you can get. When most people think of a typical African-American, they think of a Black American with deep slavery-era roots in the Southern United States that go back hundreds of years, NOT a Black American that has parents from Africa or the Caribbean. However any U.S. citizen of Black African ancestry, direct or indirect can claim to be an African-American.

But most 'typical' African-Americans will not call each other 'African-American' in casual, everyday conversation or dialogue. They will just call each other Black for nearly all the time. Like I said before, it's more of a formal term.

You say you are an African Englishman ? What background ?

Nah i'm not really.. well unless we go back around 120,000 years or so. I'm a pasty white guy, so that's why it would raise some eyebrows haha. My immediate ancestry is Irish on one side and English on the other for as far back as i'm aware. Past that i have no idea. But i always wanted to get one of those DNA tests just to see where my family tree goes. Would be pretty fascinating. but i hear they're expensive.

Im 99,9% sure that atleast 1 of the McReary's from GTA:IV will be in the game.

Packie is confirmed to not be in the game. Derrick, Kate, and Francis have the possibility of dying. Gerry is in jail for a very long time. Looks like we are doing dirty work for Ma.
