(proceeds to ignore this anyway) Ok when I said that Michael might be Claude I didn't mean half way through the story he suddenly blurts out "I'm Claude!!!!", no I mean that maybe there are some hints like "I used to Ron banks in Liberty City" etc . I posted this thread as it was an idea I had and saw a lot of reasons for it. Most of the responses have either been a person attack on me (drink bleach op, are you autistic, troll detected) or simply are comments mocking (Michael is CJ, Michael is Trevor, thread of the year) I don't really understand the negativity on this thread. I have listed many reasons that many people have not even referred to (Both used to rob banks, reasons for Claude to be in witness protection) I realise the 3D-HD different universe thing but as I have posted before there will just be little hints. It is has been said by many in the past that Micheal could be Tommy Vercetti, however this clearly didn't work as Micheal is only around 5-10 years older than Tommy was in 1986 meaning that it would be impossible for that to be so. However Claude is only 28 in GTA3 meaning he would be 40 as of 2013, him and Michael also have some other similarities such as they both rob banks shown by numerous previews and by the start of GTA3. This fits with Michael's past as Claude was robbing banks in Liberty City from 1992 with Catalina meaning he is somewhat of an expert. Other similarities include similar appearance, both white, brown haired etc. It also fits with what Michael says in 1st trailer "Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather?" As Liberty City is based on New York which has quite a chilly climate. Also Claude did used to live in San Andreas so it would make sense that he might return. Michael is in the witness protection programme, which most probably gave him a new identity. Claude after the events of GTA 3 could quite easily have gone into the witness protection as he could have given information to the FIB about SPANK in exchange for his safety from just about every gang in Liberty City. Both Michael and Claude are clearly addicted to chaos. So there it is, every reason I can think of for why Michael is Claude. The only flaw I see in this is the fact that Michael has kids, but this could easily be fixed by Rockstar by saying Claude got his future wife pregnant in the 90s during a break from Catalina before getting back with his wife a few years after GTA3. I never said they could be the same person because of brown hair, white skin it was just an observation that have some similar features. Michael is not. /thread Claude is never confirmed to be mute, I know CJ calls him mute but he only meets him briefly twice so Claude didn't have a reason to talk. Using 3 characters in one game is a game-changer for Rockstar and was potentially quite a big risk to take, if you read some of the comments on multiple characters back when it wasn't confirmed. Sure, they are all different personalities with one goal, and may provide some with a blast to the past with their similarities to previous characters. However, using the same protagonist from another game would just change the world of GTA. Side characters returning is always fun, but Claude (in your example) belongs to GTA III, and should be left there to keep that status. This format allows the GTA series as a whole to stay fresh. If you include Claude, or any other protag, you'd have to keep them the same and pay homage to their past otherwise it risks ruining the old game. Much like re-making an old movie, or something. Not only this, the collectors edition will have the bonus of 'classic GTA characters' to use to play online; this has to include all the past protagonists IMO, so using Claude twice makes no sense. Thank you for posting an actual constructive post. I agree with your reasons but still don't see why it just can be hinted i.e left to players interpretation. Well you go much into detail about claude's story. As for Claude being Michael: no. They're two different persons. But yes, the spiritual successor most definitely. And the age is really not confirmed. He could be 29 in GTA 3, he could be 35. Who knows. Who cares? People really read too much into him. He is just some mass appealing model w/o personality. We, the players give him personailty. And while Rockstar dedicated some easter eggs including him, people read too much into him. As if there was more. Well, go ahead. I do strongly believe Rockstar based Michael on Claude whether or not he is him or not. In regards to your Claude not talking, in GTASa he is only in it briefly never really had the chance to talk. And in GTA3 he is so set on revenge he is just completely focused and does whatever he is told with no arguments just to get to revenge quicker. It could be quite possible therapy cured Claude.
