macca82
Okay so I've been looking at the fall out of this map tease release and been concerned like others about how small GTA V appears to be in comparison to what we were expecting. I decided to look at the Red Dead Redemption map that was provided on the limited edition version. The dimensions were approximately 22" x 21" in comparison to V's 21.5" x 26.75" Thinking about it, if rockstar have claimed the map to be 3.5 times bigger than rdr then surely that means the map is much bigger than we think it is (i.e. Scale wise). I personally think there are two or three possibilities Maybe what we are seeing is from a zoomed out view of the map which is not the true representation of the ENORMOUS scale? or.. the map is indeed average, however the number of accessible buildings is so vast that it has been added to the scale in terms of explorable areas. (this is something I would personally like as well). or the final possibility which is probably the most plausible is that the RDR map dimension was true but the explorable area was only a fraction. Maybe rockstar are saying the new V map is like the RDR map but bigger and has more landmass to explore. What are your thoughts Edited June 2, 2013 by macca82
Official General
That is actually a possibility, but looking at the screenshots and the map, it seems like they match and the city's map is pretty much what is displayed on the blue map.
AceHigh11
Misleading title Better title: "Let's guess the scale of the blueprint map".
LennonNL
We haven't seen the whole map, so what are you panicking about? The blueprints were just the city, obviously
wwinterj
What are your thoughts Some people think the city is small not the map. I agree though clearly the map is zoomed out thus the scale is way off.
Kiffster
Well I still believe what R* says on their website: The biggest, most dynamic and most diverse open world ever created
.Emmi
I think the map will be 3.5 times the size of RDRs map. 5 times if you include the explorable ocean floor.
zainzombie
I still dont understand why R* would reveal the map of entire city 4 months before release date. Its not even like people had to work on thousands of pieces, just had to put 3 pieces to solve the puzzle. I am probably wrong but I think there is more to it. (this is something I would personally like as well). I am diggin this too. With more building interiors to explore it would open up space, instead of jus being able to access a stairwell and the roof. also have to add in the surfaces of the lake, rivers, and ocean. Cant see Rock* stressing the size of the world without them delivering in some respect. Im not really worried.

I dont remember that but its understandable as it was a new game (new as in, most of the people didnt even know about Red Dead Revolver) and maybe they did it to attract more people and with IV, I believe the outline was unintentionally given away. Giving away the map of entire city 4 months before release... is weird.
