Rockstargames691
Wait Xbox 360 Gets to 1080p? (not the "real" 1080 I know) I'm buying a cable right fu*king now No like I said UP there xbox360 tops out at 720p the NEXT generation of consoles ie Xbox1/PS4 WILL be able to reach 1080p and 1080i but the CURRENT GEN ie Xbox360/PS3 are MAXED OUT at 720p. groveSTREETfamily4LIFE
I dunno, I don't see a difference switching from 720p to 1080p on my XMB... to me it all looks the same. If it's 1080p then sweet, but who cares. HD is HD if you ask me. It's gonna look great no matter what.
twistedweather
dont think it will in be in 1080 like infamous 2 or dead space 2 720 for GTAV prolly be the max Graphics will look better. improvements upon the problems in IV thats a step in right direction. Sockpuppet
this about sums it up The top one could be the next gen version if R* do plan on doing a makeup for the next gen console GTA 5 Honestly, these look pretty similar to me. The level of texture detail, smoothness of the models, etc are the same. The only big difference is that the promo pic has strong directional lighting on Trevor. If they'd stuck a spotlight on him in the trailer you'd probably have a much closer match.
d3ex2
The current gen consoles max out at 720p there bud. So unless they decide to release it for PC or the PS4/Xbox1 this is not going to be a possibility unfortunately. PS3/360 certainly do not max out at 720p. There are loads of games (mainly exclusives) that run at 1080p. GTA V might run at 720p on 360. On PS3 it will probably be 640p upscaled to 720p just like IV and RDR. They lower the rendering resolution to increase performance and the up scaling provides a blur effect which slightly reduces aliasing. I believe 360 has it's own anti aliasing but PS3 doesn't. cholesterol
XBOX 360 does support 1080p natively it doesn't just upscale from 720p, though not that many games support it. Source:http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2006/10/8108/ PS3 also supports native 1080p according to wikipedia. The amount of disinformation in this thread is palpable. SuperDuperGta
Holy f*cking sh*t this message board is full of freaking retards. Firstly, both the 360 and PS3 support 1080p, though few games take advantage of it. Secondly, if you think GTA V will run in anything near 1080p on today´s consoles, you´re in for a bad surprise. Yea f*ck all of you dumbass pricks. f*ck you. On Another Note Has it been confirmed that GTA V will be in 1080?
gtamann123
I really don't care if it is upscaled. My TV is native 1080p so I have to have my ps3 display in 1080 or else the picture doesn't fit the whole screen and it looks retarded. And the graphics are perfectly fine for for GTA IV and RDR. So even if GTA V is "upscaled garbage" then I don't care because its fine by me and I have no problem with the graphics. I don't sit and analyze every single pixel of the graphics like a PC player does. So GTA V can go ahead and display in 720p and I will upscale to 1080p without complaints

GTAGuy
Neither the PS3 with its 256mb of GDDR3 nor the 360 with its 10mb EDRAM framebuffer have enough memory to handle a full 1080p framebuffer with anything but the most simple of games. The 360 can upscale 720p games to 1080p, but generally look best on a 720p TV around 30" or so. The PS3 can't even upscale, so 720p games will run at actual 720p on the system. The reason why most PS3 games run at a lower resolution than the 360 is because the RSX gpu is technically inferior to the 360's Xenos GPU, so most developers cut the resolution and/or graphics quality to make up for some performance loss. Developers that really know how to get all they can out of the PS3 can compensate for this by tasking the Cell's SPEs to assist the RSX in geometry shader calculations. This frees the RSX up to do pixel and vertex shader calculations. The whole balancing of threads and tasks between the RSX and Cell and its SPEs are the main reason why the PS3 is so hard to develop for, because without any optimizations and without using the SPEs you basically have a single core version of the 360 CPU and a GPU that is weaker than what the 360 has. If you look at the more recent RAGE games on PS3, you can definitely see Rockstar has a better handle on how to get the most out of the PS3. I have no doubt the PS3 version of GTAV will run at 720p alongside the 360 version. Edited June 1, 2013 by GTAGuy

kudoboi
It dont matter if it isnt true 1080, its still gonna be a great looking game and it will be one of the best looking games on this generation's consoles haha no. maybe one of the best looking open world games but deff not one of the best looking games. xbox 360 and PS3 shouldn't even have lasted this long imho because of how it stopped gaming from advancing. even smartphones have games that run on 1080P native resolution now. hopefully next gen only lasts for 4 to 5 years or even lesser unless we want to have similar graphics for the next 10 years Edited June 2, 2013 by kudoboi
iceman4555
Well I'm going to play GTA V on a 4k resolution (4000p).. Jk but anyways I bet GTA V will run at 720p but will have a good refresh rate and FPS compared to current sandbox games, and compared to GTA IV. According to you it doesn't even upscale If the game is 720p and an option to upscale is turned on in the settings, it will upscale. That option is off in my settings, the game I'm talking of (MGS4) is a true 1080p game that is not upscaled. There are very few games that are 1080p, like 95% is 720p, but the point is that there are 1080p games and that the PS3 can display 1080p without upscaling.
