Murad96
If you play on a 1080p TV, then it will be slightly better quality than 720p. Not "the tiniest difference" but it isn't a big difference. I have a HD Ready TV, which is probably 720p, but I changed the Xbox settings to 1080i and it works. 1080p doesn't though. By default the Xbox settings were on 480p for me. Not sure why, because when I changed it to 1080i there was a huge difference. Remember to change the Xbox or PS3 settings guys. By the way, how did this person take a screenshot on a console? Edited June 1, 2013 by Murad96 kuusko
Owedem Wingy
Not sure about PS3 but I know 360 can only have 720p as it's highest output. I think only PC (if and when the version comes) will be the only real 1080p version. I was playing Battlefield, COD , and GTA IV in 1080p on my 360 yesterday . lazloisdavrock
no it cant, lol. most games are 720p for a reason, because the hardware cant handle to render it any higher
Murad96
Then how come when I go to the options I can change it to 1080p? Yes it can, just not with games.
iNero
Most Games arent even 720p. BF3 only has 702p. So current Gen isnt an HD Console actually. At least for many games. Upscalling from Sub HD to 1080p sometimes looks even worse than playing in 720p. RDR on the 360 had native 720p so I expect V to do the same. Btw, you can really see that RDR looks sharper then most other games tbis generation. Next Gen in 1080p native will be a gamechanger for most console players. With 60fps in addition it will be crazy. Because your console upscaled the pixels from 720p to 1080p, Current gen Consoles don't support 1080p, 720p Is the native resolution of the current GEN consoles, It looks better that 720p but it doesn't look as good as native 1080p

When you're in the xbox resolution options you're changing what the xbox upscales the graphics to fit your native resolution your TV does. it does not actually render the game IN that resolution. K.Walters
Those are great news. I was expecting 720p, but 1080p? Wow. I play on 26xx-14xx TV so that`s great for me, but the question is: How will that affect the FPS? Surely we won`t have 60. When I play on PC I can`t play games with less than 60 FPS, it feels slow and chewing gum like. Though games like Saints Row and Assassins Creed runs great with 30 FPS, probably because you don`t need twitch reflexes like you do in First person shooters. If it will run as smooth or even smoother than GTA4 and with better graphics on the same console that thats awesome. Though I`m not a graphics guy, I prefer gameplay over graphics, but good graphics is cool, like an eyecandy.

Yes, that's why I'm so excited for this next generation because we're going to play in native 1080p, and at 60 Frames per second Which is very nice since last games only ran at 30 or 15 frames per second, Except for call of duty

Maglev
After so many years and people still believe the ps3/xbox360 play games in 1080p HD. Menu's and prerendered cutscenes maybe. Or the playback in GT5. But most games run at 720p or lower UPSCALED to 1080p.

At best you will either get 1080p @ 30fps or you will get 720p @ 60fps. So you might want to "moderate" your expectations for the next gen. As for GTA 5 being 1080p not a cats chance in hell, you will be lucky if it manages 720p. As others have stated the Xbox and PS3 CAN NOT run a game like GTA 5 at 1080p. The best those consoles can do is render the game at 720p and then stretch the image to 1080p that is NOT the same as a natively rendered 1080p image. The quality is like night and day. Here is a quick screenshot of the PC version of GTA 4 running at 1080p :- Click the image to see full size, I added it as a thumbnail because Happyness is a big baby with a sh*tty monitor. Compare that with the screenshot of the same area on page 2 of this topic. The 1080p image is sharper Edited June 1, 2013 by CharmingCharlie
kj2022
if you play on a pc then 1080p is certain, but on a 360/ps3, not a chance, don't count upscaling on consoles as HD because it's not, it's just displaying it at the size of the tv, that's all. Happyness
Will we actually get great graphics and 60 fps for next gen, or will we get great graphics but 30 fps? I doubt next gen gets 60fps. In order to run 60fps and whatnot you need a really powerful rig, more than 8GB ram and whatnot, that's my opinion at least.
epicluca
Sorry to burst your bubble but V won't be the best looking game tihs generation. The graphics will be on the level of or slightly better than RDR, which is good but not as good as some games that aren't as huge (in terms of data and how much needs to be processed) as V. TwistedMedia
Basically.. (not sure about the Xbox) ps3 can be set to display 1080p, but very few games are native to this as it puts too much strain on the hardware. If you get IV running on 1080p, its not true 1080, it is stretched. Its the same as trying to run a ps2 game with a hdmi cable, it will not change the graphics, and if anything, make them appear worse due to stretching. I cant wait to see 4k resolution on ps4.. That will be incredible

redx165
So for all the people with hdtv's and hdmi cables, are you excited for gta v in 1080p? I think that it might be one of the best looking games on the 360/ps3. The point of this thread is to see if anyone is excoted to see this masterpiece in its true potential. Feedback Appreciated, Your GTA Buddy Niick99 P.S. Call The Thread Police if you like Very few games are native to 1080p. This generation isn't ready for 1080p games. Lets try next gen.
