trip
Source One of gaming’s greatest mysteries might soon be uncovered. You’ve likely heard the tale before: Millions of unsold copies of the disastrous ET: The Extraterrestrial game for the Atari 2600 lie buried in a New Mexico landfill. Despite a slew of believers and evidence supporting the story, doubters remain. But in the next few months, we'll have the answer once and for all. The Alamogordo City Commission has approved a deal that will allow for the excavation of the landfill to see what, exactly, is buried there. I'm going to be really bummed out if it turns out that there isn't a stash of old E.T. cartridges. Crokey
Big problem with this, they'll find all the games but no Atari 2600 to play them on, we need someone who has a load of old crap to play this on ...Slamman?!?

na89340qv0n34b09q340
Here's something I read a month or so ago. The person explains what exactly made E.T. so bad, and then they fix it. Honestly, the game isn't so bad on its own, the only problem I had when I played it was that it got boring after a while and was pretty hard, but that's almost all Atari 2600 games in a nutshell. I'm hoping you mean you thought the topic was about finding Extraterrestrials, and not that you thought someone had actually found E.T from the movie. Tracksuit Hitman
This would be the highlight of 2013 for Slamman, no doubt. On a serious note, I'm quite intrigued by the article. It'll be worth the wait to see whether the 'conspiracy' is true. aka geobst

epicluca
What if they uncover loads of GTA Vs for the PC, R* had PC version planned all along but scrapped it without any trace No. Just no. I wasn't aware of your knowledge of the excavation, what did they actually uncover. OT - I find it wierd that we've gone from excavating dinosaur bones to now excavating old videogame cartridges, it might boost sales for Atari if they send them back to stores
lol232
What if they uncover loads of GTA Vs for the PC, R* had PC version planned all along but scrapped it without any trace http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/203/685/conspiracy-keanu.jpg?1321901003 Or maybe completely finished GTA V for PC set in Vice City which was made in ultra rush in a moth and the game is bugless and awesome, which was meant to be a PC Exclusive but Rockstar Scrapped it and decided to put V in Los Santos? Anyway, my cousin does have Atari 2600 and he doesn't use it so I might as well ask him if he can gift it to me. Either way, it would be cool to have that, really, if I got to Los Angeles in California this year, I will walk all the way to New Mexico with a shovel to get that sh*t and get 101 of those copies and sell 100$'s each so I'll earn 10000$ Profit (I'll keep the 101st for myself). Lock n' Stock
I wonder why Atari decided to bury copies of a landfill (of all places) in the first place, though I guess they had to do something with them if they weren't selling.

GTA_stu
I always found E.T. scary when I was younger. Especially when he dressed up as a woman. Looked like one of grandma's friends. His name was so unoriginal as well, you can't name a character so literally. Finding Nemo would have been a whole lot different if it was called "Finding Fish". Lazy writing. trip
Keep that sh*t exactly what it should be - a mystery. I'm torn. I want to know...but then again do I really want to know. I sense a revisit of Geraldo and Al Capone's vault. I'll be sorely bummed out if James(AVGN) turns out to be the Geraldo in all of this. Honestly, the game isn't so bad on its own, the only problem I had when I played it was that it got boring after a while and was pretty hard, but that's almost all Atari 2600 games in a nutshell. TheGodDamnMaster
Am I the only one here who legitimately owns an Atari 2600 and a physical copy of ET? It's a bad game for sure, but there's much worse out there.
