T0X1C
Now I'm no expert of golf, I don't watch it, I know nothing about it and the only version I've ever played is the miniature one. However, I do know that they have to be pretty large, especially a full 18 hole course. As most of us here at GTAF know, an 18 hole golf course was confirmed as far back as November last year. Many people on the forum, as well as those CVG map-makers who've actually seen the demo of the game, have speculated that the location circled in red below is the golf course: It looked rather small to be an 18 hole golf course to me so I decided to overlay it onto a map of GTA IV to get an idea of it's size. Here it is in red over Middle Park: As you can see it is almost exactly the size of half of Middle Park. Is it just me or is this MUCH too small to be an 18 hole golf course? There is no evidence for another possible golf course in the city. We do know, however, that there will be a golf course in the city from trailer 1: So what do you think? Is this golf course just a 9 hole course, with the full course out in the countryside somewhere? Is this not the golf course at all, with the real course being located somewhere in a part of the city that isn't shown on the segment of the map that has been revealed? Perhaps I know nothing and this is the 18 hole course and half of Middle Park is an adequate size for a full golf course? Or maybe it is actually large, Rockstar may have drastically increased the lengths of runways for GTA V making the scaling above incorrect. Golfers, get in here. If you're concerned that I may be an idiot who messed up the scaling between the 2 cities and want to know how I did it, here you go: I measured the length of one of the runways in the Los Santos airport. I then used some simple trigonometry to calculate the x and y components for the LC runway using the required length of the hypotenuse (the angle of the runway on the LC map is 42.3 degrees from the horizontal). Then by using ratios and proportions I scaled the whole LC map using these x and y components. This made the scale of the 2 cities equal. Since you can't see the whole LS runway, I took it as being slightly longer than it probably is, meaning that the size of the golf course is probably even smaller than it is as shown above, compared to Middle Park. Remember this was done under the assumption that the runways in Los Santos are the same length as the runways in Liberty City. Kiffster
That looks like a park or something, and too small for a golf course. WAY too small!! I always thought that white part to the right was the golf course until someone told me it's to the north west.. We'll see....
T0X1C
It's a 9 hole I think it's been confirmed 18 hole course was confirmed in November. @Werebot 85 Yeah I also suspect it may be a par, however CVG stated that it was the golf course. There's no way to know whether it was confirmed to them, they saw it or they're just guessing.

In the previews I remember a lot of them stating it's a 9 hole course, unless what we see on the blueprint map isn't the golf course, it's going to be a 9. That's not nearly big enough for an 18 hole course
Quackerz Gamerz
I'm no expert on golf courses, but that area definitely looks too small for a full 18 hole course. I'd expect that due to the angle in Trailer 1, it may be further north of LS, outside the area we have been shown in the blueprint.
Argon
I don't know if it's the big golf course, but the red area you circled is definitely a golf course. It has been shown on many screenshots and it's very close to Michaels home. It's a golfcourse, and its location is known. The size thing does bother me, though, and I think 10+ holes does not seem to fit in that area, although the area could possible extend a bit to the other side of the road. It would still be to small, I guess.

Argon
Just to clarify that the area the OP has marked IS a golf course (if you're a bit familiar with the map and screens, you can work it out ): Bigger version
T0X1C
In Trevor's trailer you can see him flying over what appears to be a series of bunkers in the countryside, but the area doesn't seem to look like typical golf course.

73duster
A Golf course is quite large, and it's a bit too much to expect a full sized one that is a 1:1 scale. Who cares? It's going to be fun anyway. People just don't understand that these maps are not designed to be an exact replica of anything. People are already complaining about the city being too small, so imagine a massive full sized golf course in the middle of this so called "small" city? It would look ridiculous. Nobody cared how puny Vice City was, or even GTAIII. While we can expect open world games to increase in size and content, there is way too much in terms of expectations on current gen consoles, as well as what you are going to get for $60. Sure games like JC2 had massive maps, but they are repetitive cut and paste environments. Nothing stands out other than the size of the map. Rockstar however, gives us a blend of everything, with a twist. Every single open world game has been memorable because of the FEEL of their environments. So if you are expecting to play a realistic golf game, go buy a console golf game.
Tracksuit Hitman
A tad bit off topic but it seems like they've inherited the pedestrian skin of the golfer in the pink shirt and cream shorts from one of the golfer pedestrian skins from San Andreas. Seen as though I use that skin regularly when roleplaying in a SA:MP roleplaying server, that's something I'm glad to see. aka geobst

Graven
18-hole golf course takes about 0.25 squaremiles (0.6 square km) of space. Would have thought they are much bigger. Maybe the lanes in game are not as long as in real life? If You zoom closer, You can see the individual lanes. It does look like there would be 18. I don't know what is the track (inside red stroke), but it has to be quite huge. If You knew what track it is could compare the size. Still not convinced how accurate any of these map comparisons by forum members are.

The runway in GTA IV is about 4000ft shorter than an international airports runway in real life. Some people might try to compare the size of that racetrack to some real world track, but you simply can't do that for such a reason. You can't have a 1:1 ratio between objects in a game and their real life counterparts, obviously. The best anyone can do is try and relate the size of an object in a game to the size of a similar object in a previous game. It'll never be accurate, though. Vex_Doppel
9 hole courses are common and can be played twice for a full game of 18. A nine hole course in real life can take anywhere from an hour to 3 hours depending on the size of the course and the skill of the player. I don't know if it will be like other golf games where you skip right to where your ball has landed or if you have to drive the cart. The average hole is is around 400 yards. A par 4. The average non-pro player hits on average 200 yards. For those who don't know what par 4 means. Basically it shouldn't take you more than 4 hits to sink the ball. Less is better. Now, a respectable sized golf course can be around a 160 acres. that's 1/4 miles sqaured. Now you map experts should be able to measure that with what we've got to give us an estimated size of the course. *edit* oh, and by the way, thats the size of an 18 hole course, so a 9 hole course would be half that. AuSsIeThUnDeR36
Well I do play golf and the average 18 hole course is about 7000 yards long. In a gta game, I'd expect a course to be 2 Middle Parks in size. Maybe 2.5x in size actually if you include a big clubhouse with a terrace, parking area and a driving range. Yes, when going from the T-box to the hole its about 7000 yards, that doesn't include the areas of rough, trees, water, and out-of-play areas. your measuring from a straight line from t-box to hole. But acres is the best way to measure and get an idea on the amount of area it takes up. An urban course is anywhere from 110 acres to 120, and a resort goes up to 170 to 190 acres. TheWetPartoftheArm
Golf courses in my opinion are a huge waste of good land, knowing that they'll also be a waste of good land in GTA V is disconcerting, but accurate nonetheless.
