You felt that everything be OK as long as Rockstar were around. WAKE UP. Rockstar (owned by TakeTwo) is at the end of the day a company (commercial business). Do you know what that means? They are here to make money. So yeah they will sell multiple editions of the game, give pre order bonuses, and make all digital content available for release later on. Why? Makes more money! Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the people who work at Rockstar creating games LOVE to do what they do and they care about the fans but this is a business and their marketing/PR is what fools you into thinking they care about you. They only care about you if you GIVE THEM MONEY. You can start calling them EA when we get a GTA every year. When the game is released even though it's no finished. When we get a GTA: PREMIUM service or when they implement Online Passes, Always on DRM and release loads of sh*tty DLC that unlocks stuff that should be in the game. The digital content isn't really cutting anything out. Alright the blimp is but the rest isn't. I'm pretty sure we'll still have access to cars/bikes/guns/ tattoos and clothes even if we don't buy the SE/CE. The digital content is only an add on. 2 cars, a bike, 3 weapons, some tattoos/clothes and ADDITIONAL stunt trials. All those will be in the game...you're just getting some more. Why is everyone throwing a sh*t fit? because it's GTA? You think Rockstar wouldn't DARE do this to GTA? It's their biggest money maker and they are gonna milk it out. They did this for max Payne 3 and redemption. Get over it. It's just small content you won't even notice it's not there. It doesn't ruin the game in anyway. I dont have live at the moment and ive been waiting a year to get it because when gta v releases, xbox live will be worth buying. I might just get the special edition though.. It's called tiered pricing; with each tier the price will increase exponentially, but with little real difference in the actual product. It's pretty standard in sales. You'll see it in anything from sneakers to toothbrushes. I think it's hilarious how some people make out that the gaming industry is full of exceptionally greedy companies. It's not. Businesses exist to make a profit & with big budget productions, like AAA games, they'll want to ring out as much profit as they can for it to be worth their while. waikzguy8998 Posted June 1, 2013 Share Posted June 1, 2013 Normally I'd join in with you and say "yes, only the regular version" but as big a GTA fan as I am / have been for years it's one where I wouldn't mind spending the extra cash to get the little perks and bonuses. The bag, hat, and stuff like that are alright but I just really want the blimp, extra weapons, etc. Just wish that you could get the old GTA characters with the special edition too instead of just the collectors. That being said I really think the SE is worth it for the extra $30. I mean any of us probably spends/wasters more than $30 a month on unnecessary crap or things that we end up no needing later so why not put it to good use and add some fun to GTA? If you could get things like the added weapons, blimp, etc later on then I'd say yeah just the regular version. However since it's only at the beginning, I'd say splurge a lil man and get the $79.99 version! The different price thing for me is greedy and distasteful but the clincher is the extra (25%?) special ability and free guns? I love these games, I want the challenge, why would I want to make them easier? A hardcore mode for extra £££ would be much more tempting. ...and no I'm not naive, I understand that tiered pricing is common practice, a businesses purpose is to make money etc...thats still greed in my book.
