Squidgyone
Hi all, I have the collectors edition ordered and was beginning to wonder whether its worth also ordering the SE aswell and keeping the CE unopened just in case Rockstar keep everything in the CE exclusive to it. Thus making it worth alot more in the future. Thoughts Please
platinumlexus
Thats why I ordered two collectors editions just incase Got one for xbox and one for ps3
straxi1234
IMO it definitely is. I have ordered two for the PS3. Obviously one is to play and one is to just sit there and collect dust like my Claude figurine etc etc Hence collectors!!!
Squidgyone
I wish I could get two, the store I've ordered from only has 5 allocated to it. Might have to order it from a different store aswell.
Pleasure_Pier
Why not buy 10? Or even 20? Just in case. Just in case.
Ben73
Do you people every watch TV shows like Pawn Stars and all them. Often things that were labeled 'collectors edition' when new are worthless these days because many people kept them in great condition. The things that are worth a lot are the things most people got rid of because they thought it was nothing special. Now these says with only limited amounts available they are worth a lot more. THEMANatwar
Why not? Its only $150. That is chump change. I preoredered 3 collectors editions; one to play, one to never open, and another to marry.

Doesn't matter because to me it's worth something because I am an avid fan of this game and I think the unopened title only really applies to fans of the game. AuSsIeThUnDeR36
I didn't buy the CE just to look at it on my shelf. This game is going to be played. Oh yes. It shall be played. Then if I ever want to sell it, which I most likely won't, I'll keep everything pristine and put it all back in the box and seal it up with fresh shrink wrap. No one would ever know it had been opened and had the f*ck played out of it.

Maybe £10 more or something Unless you've got all the GTA's unopened from GTA I, so you have a proper collection, there's no point.

Wrong. 25 years from now it will be considered 'vintage' and will be worth a small fortune. Just have the console in good working order and store it in a sealed box to keep the dust out. Look at other things that are 25 years or more older. For example Star Wars figures, Pac Man Arcade machines, all of these increase in value, whether you have the full set or not. Back in 1995 I sold my entire Star Wars collection for $1,000 and I didn't even have the full set. One day I plan on packing my Ps2 away with all the games. It will be worth heaps sometime in the future.

UltimateVenom
Doubt it will be worth anything... Just because it is called "Collectors Edition" doesn't mean it will ever be worth money... Maybe if it was signed?... but its hardly rare... nor Collectable. You have to think, if its costing you $150 now, how much do you think it will be worth when you cannot play it? (wont play on that gen console, nor will TV's have connectors for old consoles, likely even HDMI will be redundant by then.) Would you like to buy a collectors edition light globe? $3,000 Actually why not buy 2? one to use, and one to store for 20 years.

Kuunkulta
The collector's edition's value will most likely peak just after release date when all reviews are out and people know it's a big hit. Late comers will want it then. In further future, it might be worth something but I doubt it being opened or not really matters as long you have everything that originally came with it. Pre-ordered one and I will open mine. All the stuff I will spread on a shelf to show off. Same as I do for all my collector's editions. They're good decorations. Value in collectables is all about rarity, quality and demand. I cannot see this, being rare nor in demand... its GTA V... it's not as if it is a break through in gaming technology or history... in 10 years it will be nothing special. The CE will be a big right around the game's release date. The CE is already rather hard to come by as evident by all the threads we've seen here complaining that their stores only have 5 CE's available etc...I'm sure that some people who are excited about GTA, but haven't been following it every second will want one. One thing I disagree with, is it being opened or closed when you sell it. If you want to make money off of selling the CE, then you'll have to sell it for more than $150. If you typed in the CE on ebay and saw 10 listings for example, all priced at $250, you're going to buy the one that wasn't opened because you're paying $250. Buyers will automatically skip to the listing that has starred *never opened*. To the nay sayers, this actually works. I remember my friend who bought a "Star Wars: The Old Republic" CE and sold it for twice it's original value one week after release. Today the game is no longer as popular, and the value for CE is approximately 1/4 its original value. Edited June 1, 2013 by Apxidia

zeppelincheetah
I can't afford to. I want to wear the hat anyways. I opened GTA IV's special edition. I have used the hell out of that duffel bag. That alone has gotten more than $30 worth of use. The old characters make me want to play online. I can't though because I would have to spend $60 more on Live and even then, my Xbox is old and doesn't come with built in wifi. i only have one tv and would have to move it to my room (where my internet connection is) in order to play online. That's just too much imo. Why can't we have old characters in single player as like a cheat or something?
