Anyone get a Heat vibe from this picture?

I really get a Heat vibe from this photo because at the end of Heat, Al Pacino's character and Robert De Niro's character square off at an airport at night and also has a similar vibe like that. Am I the only one who picked up on this?

With Michael's obsession of Hollywood films, I wouldn't be suprised if that, and a ton of other missions/scenes are based on Heat and other movies.

That's exactly what I thought. I thought he looked like a traitor there as well.

Lol, what is with this obsession that the characters are going to turn on each other? I've seen so many threads where people over analyze vague screenshots and come up with some off the wall scenario where they stab each other in the back. It's getting ridiculous.

Yep, it's getting overbearing. Such script and plot twists are cheap, easy, reliable ways to generate new drama, conflict and tension in a story. I hope that Rockstar will rise above that, but unfortunately, I don't have confidence that they will.

OT: While Heat is one of my favorite movies, I am hoping that GTAV actually has some story lines -in addition to- Heat; otherwise it is starting to look like a video game remake of the movie.

Actually, the real lesson learned in Heat was, "it's hard to find good help these days." De Niro's crew had their act totally together, but hiring that Waingro f*ck destroyed everything. That was the cheap plot device in Heat that was used to drive the story.

It doesn't necessarily mean he's turning on Michael or Franklin but it could mean that he's turning on a close acquaintance like Lamar. Sometimes you just have to wonder if the screenshot correlates to a story moment.

I think if anyone turns or becomes a problem for one of the protagonists, it's going to be someone who isn't a playable character, maybe someone they're close to, but not a playable character. The main story will end with Michael, Trevor, and Franklin still friends and going on with their lives. None of them will die, and none are going to stab one another in the back.

I could be wrong on this, I just don't see it happening, with the way the game is going to be played.

Yeah I mean it is going to be hard to get rid of a character especially since we now know they have special abilities. If you remove one, you remove that special ability.

I'm pretty sure Rockstar has outright said one of the Protagonists will also be an Antagonist.

Franklin looks badass in this screenshot, and yes I get an "airport showdown from Heat" vibe from it.

Doesn't help that some of the recent previews describe him as "comfortable working on either side of the law."

Well if Michael tries to kill Franklin and Franklin escapes he would indeed try to screw everything up. But we all know that's not gonna happen. What I do see happening is Lamar double crossing Franklin because he ditches his homies at some point. Maybe we'll see a bunch of cops waiting outside when we made a score? Regarding Heat, yes the screen reminds me of Heat. That scene was so awesome! I'd really like to see a cop be the main antagonist again. I want some cool criminal enemies as well, but the main antagonist must be a cop that's always on top of Michael and his crew. An actual good cop, who's always real close to catching Michael, but Michael outsmarts him with his experience time and time again. And finally, a Heat style show off between the two. We should almost feel bad for killing the cop, he should be the first main antagonist in GTA to not be a crooked man, the first antagonist that doesn't deserve to die if you get what I mean. There must be this competitive relationship between the two, not really hostile (you'd almost feel as if they're friends) but more of a challenge to eachother. Just the best of the best of both sides going toe-to-toe, no hard feelings towards eachother. Really hoping to see an antagonist that is actually an awesome guy you don't want to kill but have to. He should be like Axel Foley or those two detectives in Bad Boys (their names have gone by me). That would bring some epic scenarios.

I don't remember which one it was, it was the one where they said Michael was one of the most wanted men America.

As soon as i seen this screen that's the first thing that popped into my head was Heat, Pacino chasing De Niro through the airport. Along with that night screenshot with Michael on the phone having a dead serious look on his face like some serious sh*ts going to go down.

Before & even during, me playing Max Payne 3, I thought it was a rip-off of Tony Scott's 'Man on Fire'. Even the visual editing techniques were similar. By the end of the game though, I thought it had sufficiently distanced itself from that movie. So while Heat & The Soprano's may be a jumping off point for the story, it will have its own flavour & plot twists.

It'd be something if the final showdown of the game was Michael vs. Trevor vs. Franklin and you can pick whoever you want to play. If one goes down, it's one on one and if you are shot and killed first, the other character survives and ends with them. Probably a stupid theory yes, but it's not something I'm opposed to.

I too knew immediately it was a rip on Man on Fire. The visual flares, the writing on the screen, the story itself, etc. it all added up to Man on Fire with Max Payne. However, by the end it was definitely a completely different story. I can definitely see Heat and The Sopranos being the central basis for GTA V but going its own way.

I too like the idea of having an unstoppable, principled cop or FIB guy that is the real, lasting antagonist for Michael and crew. Kind of like Lt Gerard chasing down The Fugitive, Richard Kimball (both the original TV show and the movie).

As the GTAV story progresses, sometimes their paths may actually be in sync as Michael and crew have to take down some other amoral asshole crooks who are screwing things up for everybody, and they actually end up helping the lead cop prevent a greater evil, and over time it may evolve that both the lead cop antagonist and Michael realize a larger truth, and realize the value of their mutual respect, and can avoid the need for a final big boss battle where the lead cop must die.

Ever since the first GTAV previews, with the highrise rappelling mission, wasn't Michael working with one government agency to rescue one of their guys from another more corrupt government agency, or something of the sort? So from square one, it sounds like Michael and the government don't have to be diametrically opposed throughout the story. In the real world, there can be both good guys and bad guys in any given agency -- only in TV and movies is the entire organization one big monolithic conspiracy, with each boss in turn suddenly flipping and betraying trust and showing his true corrupt colors.

Regarding Heat, the reason that Neil McCauley (De Niro) tried to kill Waingro is because the psycho f*ckup Waingro turned his well-planned armored car heist into a murder scene. That was where it all went wrong. Waingro was an intrinsic psycho and presumably if McCauley (who fully planned and controlled his heists) knew what kind of unpredictable f*ckup Waingro was, Waingro never would have been on that job and never would have gotten involved with McCauley's crew.

I think it should even be a familiar face to Michael, an old rival. Like the cop in Gone in 60 seconds, maybe. And I really like what you're saying icon14.gif
