rjmthe2nd
so lets say that your playing as Michael,a little low on health, you walk into a 24-7 shop, get greeted by an Indian shop keeper, but instead of just going by a machine and randomly drinking a can of soda for 2.5 seconds, you should be able to pick it up by going near it and pressing L2 (to pick up items) with your hand when going over to where the food item is placed and bring it to the front, and then step into a Arrow pointing down adn to begin purchasing it. and if you pick the item up and just proceed to run out the store owner will pull out a shotgun and bust your ass, ideas? suggestions? Ex Hellraiser
Dude, this is just a game. It should not, and never will be, that in-depth just to regain health. Realism in video games is only good until it begins to take away from the fun and gameplay value. It is much more preferred for 99% of players to simply go to a soda machine, press a button, and get more health, rather than actually picking it up from the shelf, going to the register, then buying it... [sarcasm]Do you also want a quick time event where you button mash to twist off the cap of your bottle of Sprunk?[/sarcasm] If it were a good idea, it would've been implemented already at some point in the 30+ years of video gaming. Alas, no (good) game has ever had realistic shopping in it, so that must be a big f*cking clue that people don't want it...
woggleman
I don't want it that realistic but why not a shoplifting option? If you have no money risk a wanted level to get it.
wwinterj
suggestions? This all sounds amazing! Maybe we can also use the bathroom facilities, get asked for I'D when buying liqueur and pay with a credit card! This would be fun because you would have to put in a 4 digit code every time you buy something and the queue building would be very fun. You also have to play a mini-game of trying to fit your goods into bags quickly as we all do when shopping! The fun doesn't end once you leave the store either as assuming you have your dog with you you will have to untie him from a post outside and clean up any mess he/she has made on the street! BEST GAME EVER! ......
SocalsZHP
RDR had it good. Different stores for general items, guns, and health items. Walk up to the clerk and purchase everything you want. I don't want to walk around the store and hand pick every item I want to purchase...

Yes, we should also need to swipe the card 11 times until it scans. While entering your 4-digit PIN, the buttons should randomly not work so you have to press it multiple times and then f*ck up the code by entering 3 twice. And then the transaction fails and you have to do it again. Using Michael's special ability might allow us to overcome this, however.

I don't want to walk around the store and hand pick every item I want to purchase... DING DING DING! We have a winner!!! Rockstar recently (in the SE/CE reveal) referred to store clerks as "merchants" and "shopkeepers," which makes me think very much of RDR, and the system we had in that. It would work great in V, but what I would like, is that instead of it just being in the menu when you approach the clerk, you should also be able to see the clerk pull out from under the counter whatever it is that you currently have selected. In RDR, you bought a load of crap from a shop, but all it is is the menu, while the shopkeeper just sits there with his arm resting on the counter, not moving. That little detail needs fixed. If I go to Ammunation, and I am purchasing a shotgun, it would look so much better asthetically if you saw the cherk pull out a shotgun and set it on the table, rather than RDR-style where you buy it, and it magically appears in the holster on your back, with the shopkeeper not budging the entire timme you buy something. Guest
f*ck what these dudes above me are talking about. They're lame and have no creativity other than trolling. You idiots can still buy soda from the machines outside, go to vendors, burger places, etc. He didn't say this would replace that so f*ck off. He's talking about stuff inside a store which truthfully wouldn't take any longer than walking into burgershot to buy a burger. I like it. Not for the sole purpose of buying things realistically but for the option to run out of the store with sh*t causing the store clerk to shoot or call the police. MMG
It's confirmed you can rob stores. Shoplifting could play out like the pizza store robbery mission in GTA SA

DODI3OG
clean up any mess he/she has made on the street! BEST GAME EVER! ...... This made your great idea sh*tty. Why'd you clean after it when it's optional? I'd rather run away instead of doing optional things.

Yeah I hope it's like RDR in that way. I don't understand why people want ultra boring, insignificant realism. If you want to hand a drink over to a shopkeeper, go to f*cking Tescos. GTA SA had that ammunation thing you're talking about. When he produced the AK, he always went 'Good, for clearing a crowded area' I hope he's still running ammunation, he was BADASS!!!! Racecarlock
Watch that whole video. Now, imagine if that game actually made you sign the traffic tickets and exchange insurance information. Or made you do police paperwork. That's what this suggestion is like. At least with fuel you could have a menu option to turn it off. What would this add to the game other than unnecessary extra time for buying things?
Patriot_Action
What would this add to the game other than unnecessary extra time for buying things? People are going to respond with "immersion," or saying that the NFS player in that clip is a terrible driver and it wouldn't be bad if you were a good driver. I'm not agreeing with either; just saying.

Sirpepperoni
How about purchasing heroin and needles and what not? Would that work the same, so you could pay for it or hit the legs and get into a shoot out with the dealer, go smack out in an alley and when he comes to we could do it all again.
