Im a big fan of breakdancing and would like to see more of it in modern hip hop. ___________ I believe many rappers don't go back to the hood because the they don't wanna get shot Tupac had an unrivaled amount of respect in the west coast, where a daughter could take Pac to see her father and the family would welcome him into their home; even though he was a "gangster" He was even a father figure to many slum children who had no dad. Going to war against Pac would be like going against the west coast. The man could walk around watts and be safe. Crips or bloods, it didn't matter. No one would dare shoot Tupac, or you would be marked for death. Another man who could walk the gang turf was Eazy-E. That respect is what gave Tupac a permanent hoodpass. He could go back anytime without fearing for his life, and that's one of the reasons he could become revolutionary. Remember in the ghetto that criminals kill people for $50 in a gas station cash register. Say a rapper worth $200 million lives in the hood, it wouldn't be long before he is robbed and shot dead. Only a few can do it. Unless you have the level of respect of that Pac had, you can't go back to the hood as a rich rapper. That's just how it is And rapping about the struggle wouldn't be "real hip hop" anymore because the rappers who made it don't live in the ghetto. But there are mainstream artists that still rep the struggle. 1 example is common from Chicago. Another is Talib Kwelli More? Lupe Fiasco Sometimes even Eminem, Yelawolf, or Mosdef. All artists mentioned are very successful ____________ You are absolutely right. The rich only care about the rich, that's why politicians will never fully exterminate gang violence. However, most rappers don't rap about the struggle anymore cuz they no longer live in hardship after they make it. Even Kendrick Lamar's style of flow is changing since he left the hood.
