The Milkman
Mafia II Forza Horizon Driver San Francisco GTA 4 All had very good driving physics in my eyes. What I liked about Mafia II was that you could choose between arcade and simulation handling. If Rockstar manages to combine the best of them all, then I would be really happy. jogy
Seriously if the driving is like midnight club, i wont be buying a collectors edition , i would buy a normal version as I just wouldnt enjoy the game much with stupid driving like that. infact I would even think about renting the game. How can you say that, the game is not even out yet.
Oynox Slider
Mafia 2 had the best handling as an "open-world" game imho.
Tonythomas180
The handling in GTA IV was perfect it was just the AI at points which ruined it. {ramming you when your stopped in front and changing lanes for no reason on two lane roads}. So the driving can stay as it is, hope heavy rain make more of a difference to your grip and i hope they keep the full beam option on your lights as driving down country lanes at night can be a ballache without decent lighting. MrP4nc4ke
As long as it's apparent that they have really tried to simulate real car weight/behavior. IV is a great foundation to improve upon. Never again to San Andreas physics (which were fine at the time for a non racing game). Most other open world games still have a lot to learn about what makes a basic thing like driving fun: consistent physics that resemble real life as much as possible. Of course, not everyone has such massive resources as Rockstar. Can't wait for GTAV. It is going to be thoroughly unbelievable, I just know it! UsernameNumber6
I would love a mix between GTA IV and Most Wanted. I adore how the cars react in IV, but I think they need to stick more to the ground, just a little bit. Maybe a bit more for the sports cars and super cars seeing as they would have race suspensions. Other than that, if you know throttle control and when to put on the brakes, IV's driving is amazing.

Ferocious Banger
@Mosquitosmasher I have no idea why you keep being anxious about the driving, inspite of countless previews stating that it was close to IV than anything else! Also, does this look anything like MCLA to you? As for what I prefer, I would like IV's handling with stiffer suspensions. Looks like we're getting exactly that. That part of that video is what made me a bit "nervous" about GTA V driving. I loved the driving in GTA IV. Infact the driving in GTA IV ruined every other open world game. It just felt so right and rewarding. Looking at the video, it looks arcady. I sure hope that it is because its in a scripted scene.. I hope Rockstar can still capture what was so good about GTA IV's driving and improve it.. rather than rehauling it into something that we had in midnight club. BUT THE BENZ
I remember seeing Micheal do a reverse u-turn, continues to drive backwards, and then spins back around all at full speed by the jet at the end of his trailer. I would like to know how that would handle considering that sequence of moves was pretty much impossible to do in GTAIV. But overall GtaIV's handling is great if you can get used to it (like any other game). That was a cutscene
twistedweather
I liked the physics in IV. Hope customization will allow us to tweak what we didnt like about particular cars in IV. Enjoyed driving in Sleeping Dogs jus hope the do any of that hijack mode in GTAV. Franklin will be slowing down cars to make corners? or slow down time for drivebys? etc

Cazzer14
GTA IV's would be perfect if they tightened the suspension and gave the cars a bit of grip so you didn't stick the back end out everytime you made a slight turn. They'll do this for V so I'm not worried.
Kaster
Movements on gta4 cars are like a two floor bus. I like it but not for racing. I hate online racing on gta4 but in tbogt is better, gta 5 should be like this
tapeear
less traction control please... thats all i want...cars did not drift nearly enough in gta4.. also personally the only difference i see between forza 4 and horizon....was the built in stability control in horizon. becides that the handleing felt the same.... that said i would love forza physics in gta
Hvitdverg
I'm also hoping for GTA IV like driving system. If it has to be similar to arcade games, please be like Burnout Paradise. GTA IV or Burnout paradise driving.
zainzombie
I agree with everything you said. I totally loved Horizon, I wish my xbox wasnt dead so I could play it again. IV + Horizon will be an epic combo if R* can pull it off, but I highly doubt it. I feel the game will be a good mix of MC:LA and IV (which isnt a bad thing) I just hope its done right. I wouldnt mind MC LA type handling when going on full speed but the game should feel more like IV when driving slow.

Pregnantplatypus
Iv driving all the way. I like my boatlike cars just the way they are. But I think in a powerful RWD car when you floor it from a stop your tires should spin and lose grip.

gta5freemode4eva
GTA 4s' driving + physics etc were pretty cool I thought. All that needs doing to it if it were just an edit of the handling file is the Suspension needs tightening, along with the weight of the vehicles... no vehicle should get 'air' when driving slowly up a curb lol. Apart from those 2 things the racing was awesome in GTA 4. If they make it like Forza Horizon or Need for Speed Most Wanted (original, not the piece of sh*t that came out recently) then that'll be pretty cool. I really hope they don't dumb down the handling or feck up the physics. If we get GTA 4 physics + handling in V then I'll be a very happy boy. If they make it too arcadey then it'll spoil the game IMO. I'm looking forward to tearing around the country on a quad bike GTA 4 style

BFR579
Definitely agree with the OP, the driving in gta IV is extremely fun, I still play it just for cruising around the city (and the fun car crashes as well), there's of course room for improvement (cars flip too much) , but I hope it stays mainly the same in V. The driving in the older gta's is also fun and better than any other sandbox game but it isn't nearly as fun as IV's.
