GTA V GPS

Has anyone posted anything about in game GPS? Well as gps goes, GTA IV had a pretty good system, but it needs one major improvement. In GTA IV you could set a destination point anywhere on the map. However, has anyone ever wanted to save a location on the map with a custom icon to remind you of anything? Like in some missions you saw an easter egg pigeon or some armor you didn't need at the time. But when you wanted to remember where it was you couldn't.......anyone. That's my one bit of opinion about how GTA V could improve on, custom icons that can be added, edited and deleted. Thanks.

With RDR and gta 4 and most of the r* games that come with maps. I take a pen and locate where I am in game and mark the spot. I really liked that. Because that's exactly what I think they left them for. It's very fun for me.

GTA has needed custom markers for a long time. Lament of Innocence on PS2 let you put different colored orbs on the map to mark significant locations, so it's not like it's unrealistic technology. With as big as V will be I hope we can mark stuff in-game, because my memory isn't perfect and even though writing on the packaged map is an option I like to keep mine in perfect condition. For now I will have a notebook with me and will try my best to write down where things are based on street names, but out in the wilderness it could get tricky. If nothing else a coordinate system would help a lot too.

GTA Chinatown Wars had a custom waypoint system (I believe that you were able create up to 4 or 5 custom waypoints, all in different colors)

Not trolling, just trying to be a little helpful ph34r.gif

I have just been marking position that I want to find again, on the screen with an indelible marker. It doesn't seem to be working too well... smile.gif

OT, Yes, this is a great idea for a feature, for all kinds of reasons. It would be equally useful for marking discoveries that we make underwater. Presumably we would / could have a waterproof GPS and even though GPS signals are not received underwater, it could mark the point that we entered the water and left the water, for a given swim.

With a map this big we need to be able to bookmark locations.

I hate to bring this up as a example but using Saints Row: The Thirds mission structure through the phone could be a good way to bookmark locations you like. Then when selected a route to the location is put on the map.

I learned a few glitches and I pin marked them with a pen on the map that comes with the cd. icon14.gif

Most cars should NOT have a built-in GPS system, as some of them are old models (i.e. from the 70's 80's or even the 90's or older) However, modern/recent cars--or those in the 2000's--would have GPS systems, as that does make sense seeing how odd it would be to have one on OLD cars. GTA IV had very old cars, yet they still had those. OR you could buy a GPS, either to put in your vehicle or a portable one. This should also apply to certain devices like phones, depending on the model itself. Also we should be able to use the in-game GPS (in your car or on foot).

You should have to set it every time. I think GPS takes away from the game because you spend more time watching the minimap to see where to turn then at the scenery going past.

I am glad I am not the only one who noticed this. It gets so easy to follow the minimap, that I just stare at it and it's like I am chasing the dots around in top-down view GTA 1, on a postage-stamp-sized screen on a Nintendo Gameboy. I can almost ignore the gorgeous 3D HD world flashing by.

However, I do like having GTA GPS, or I would get lost a lot.

Colonel Dre

I used the GPS like a total of five times when I first started playing and then I didn't need it because I learned the map

Such a simple idea but a really really good and useful 1. Nice thinking and if GTA China Wars had it then it shouldn't be a problem to implement. Would also be cool if we could save multiple locations/way-points WITHIN 1 sat-nav save/file...

Eg - Save 1 has 3 locations... it starts from Los Santos Bank, next is a mile up the road, last is along a dirt road... It'd be like a route saver. Would be cool for when you and the car become 1 along certain stretches of roads... (kinda like mapping a little scenic/race route).

I'll admit, I didn't really know LC map until I had completed twice and then played MP FM for about 6 months.

I want to change that this time around, I won't use GPS routes but will keep the minimap visible.

I will turn off GPS as soon as I get on, I'd like it if it was only on high end cars
