rayman617 Posted May 31, 2013 Share Posted May 31, 2013 GTA IV had two awesome expansions but they did not integrate with the main game. They were stand alone titles. This was an issue because it segmented the online community. TBOGT/LATD could only play with other TBOGT/LATD players. The majority of online games came from the main game. With the fan base split, users quickly waned off the expansion's online multiplayer and went back to the primary game of just GTA IV. As a result we loss out on a lot of cool features to use while playing online. If GTA V has any expansions or DLC, Rockstar should require a mandatory update for those who didn't purchase them before playing online. This way they can see the extra content and interact with it but not actually own it or be able to generate it. I think the developers are on the right track because GTA V online multiplayer is referenced as "GTA Online", meaning one huge interconnected sandbox. Really? Things like that are easy to miss. I thought what he said was pretty well thought out and a good point, it's something I often thought about personally. Considering the popularity of the games it wasn't really an issue in regard to the number of players in IV. Having one big community is always better though I agree. The DLC maps just led to empty rooms. @Happyness, I was necessarily calling you out, bud, just making a general statement. The DLC might include Zombies and be for multiplayer. I don't think this is a bad thing. I don't mind 3+ smaller DLC's instead of 2 big DLC. We need this to keep GTA Online alive and kicking for years, especially since it's so close to the next generation console releases. Just keep the world of GTA V a wholly integrated experience. When they made Liberty City Stories, they said it wouldn't come out for the PS2. It did. When they made Vice City Stories, they said, okay, unlike last time, this one definitely won't be coming out for the PS2. It did.
