wwinterj
I am all in for magic barbers as long as there isn't any bullsh*t ghetto ass hair available for Michael (Trevor, I don't care, he kinda fits for cornrows actually). What about a Mohawk?
Travís.
TBH I really hope it remains the same as in GTA SA, I don't want to wait 20 minutes for my characters haircut, I don't want to be stopped from getting an afro because my hairs not even long enough to have one, I like How you can suddenly switch the length of your hair, Something just don't need to be realistic. MessedUpPro
Why? For god's sake why? What does it add other than pointless ass restrictions? Just keep the magic SA barbers. So what if it isn't realistic?! Say what you will about SR games, at least on their forums I never see THIS BULLsh*t! Jesus Christ, you always have to complain about someone wanting a realistic feature. Every damn time. We get it dude. You don't want all the realism. You don't need to go bashing every little concept someone thinks would be cool, though. Jesus balls, man. OT: I think it should be like SA. We wouldn't get many options for customizing, if it was how you described.
DeafMetal
But in a realistic game like V The recoil would literally break his arm or send him flying. Among other obvious things... He'd get show down by the US military for unlawful use of a military-ready airplane. The eventual explosion would burn him alive from a distance that close. OP: I wanna see Trevor go from bald to Afro

Dope_0110
WHY? Why do you want STUPID options. It's like you want the game to fail. Fortunately Rockstar knows better that to listed to this stupidity. There will be ''magic'' barbers as they are in ANY GAME WITH HAIR CUSTOMIZATION. And if you don't like it you can make it ''immersive'' by going to the barber every day and choosing a haircut with slightly more hair and pretend it grows, while the rest of us enjoy the game. Miss Darko
There's two restrictions I imagine there will be for haircuts in GTA V (not necessarily what I want, but what I think will be in the game): 1. The haircuts will probably have to match the characters' personalities, so they won't have the same options and there won't be any "wild" haircuts like giving Trevor an afro (and if Franklin can get one, it's probably not a huge one). I'm sure that there will be some haircuts which push the boundaries, though. I mean, if Michael can only choose between different kinds of crew-cuts, that would be a little boring, wouldn't it? But I don't think we'll be able to give him a mohawk, either. 2. We might not be able to grow hair where there's already an established receding hairline. This is only really a problem for Trevor, who's balding. Note that this doesn't mean we won't be able to give hair back after we've made a character bald or made their hair shorter. But I also don't think any of Trevor's haircuts will give him hair where it can't grow for him. Think about this picture of his speculated voice actor, I think it's a good example of a much longer haircut than his default haircut that Trevor could possibly have as an option, which at the same time doesn't give him any hair where his hairline has receded. I agree with your perspective and reasoning, but it's a development choice between maintaining core character appearance/role (restricted haircut choices) vs. allowing more player freedom (allowing any hair cuts, even wild ones, for all characters). It's kind of rock vs. hard place, as either way is going to make some players cranky.

kesta195
Why? For god's sake why? What does it add other than pointless ass restrictions? Just keep the magic SA barbers. So what if it isn't realistic?! Say what you will about SR games, at least on their forums I never see THIS BULLsh*t! When a game is meant to be wacky and comical it can be unrealistic. But in a realistic game like V, it'd break the immersion. Also, the hair would grow realistically -- it would take about 30 in-game days to get to a point where you have to do something about it. What game going for realism adds in bullet time along with other special abilities? Speaking of which, what game going for realism lets you carry 12 weapons in your ass? I think you've got GTA confused with mafia here, buddy. There is a level between realism and entertainment games should not cross the line. Holding 12 weapons is there because it wouldn't work as a game otherwise. Take a look at RDR, that was a very realistic game aside from how you could use Deadeye and carry lots of weapons. But what does locking off haircuts until you wait for your hair to grow add? What does it add? Unneeded time between you and getting the haircut you want. That's it. That's all it does. It doesn't make the game better. It adds bullsh*t from real life that's not needed and nobody really wants. Shaving is not fun. I don't care what heavy rain told you. When you'd shave you could either see a short cutscene of the character shaving or you could just skip it. If you wanted to skip time, you could just constantly go to bed without saving. Inconvenient yes, but it'd improve the immersion. So would doing your taxes, but I don't see anyone suggesting that. It just doesn't fit in with GTA. It doesn't. I have things to do, I don't want to wait for my hair to grow out just to get the hairstyle I want. Even THE SIMS doesn't do that. The f*cking sims doesn't do that! Do you understand that you're going overboard on the realism yet when even the sims considers your idea too realistic? I like getting immersed in Batman Arkham City because it lets me be the batman. I don't get immersed in GTA so I can do the same damn chores I already do in real life. BlackNoise? Apixida? Help me out here! So is yoga. It doesn't fit in GTA at all but it's there for immersion. The haircut thing would just be there for immersion. R* could implement an option that disables "hair growth" and just lets you customize as you want anytime. Yoga is a side activity that I can avoid forever. Haircuts would be bullsh*t maintenance I would have to do just to keep a look I like. It doesn't matter how immersed I am in a tank rampage if I have to stop after 5 minutes to get another goddamn haircut. As I previously said, there could be an option to disable it and it'd take 30 in-game days to get your hair to a point where it had to be cut, and obviously 5 minutes isn't 30 days. Also, this is thread to state your own ideas, not argue against other people for their ideas. If you want magic barbers from SA, just say so. Don't start an argument. Honestly, it's pathetic we're arguing about hair in video games. I don't care how long it takes, it's still a chore. Just like refueling is. In fact, this is the same argument. And I did say I wanted to keep the magic SA barbers. On the first post I made in here. You called out the thunder by quoting me, so don't be surprised when I respond. You might now me as a lover of the IV level realism but I have to agree with you here, R* are never going to include dynamically growing hair, nor will they ever bring hunger back. Having said that, I doubt we will be able to give Trevor an afro. I just can't see them going that far in the HD era.

AdmiralAmmunation
This is RIDICULOUS. All this would add is restrictions to what we can do in the game, and make our characters look bad. If I wanna give Trevor an afro, I'm not running around for 30 days in the game waiting for it to grow out (Looking different and worse all the way.) Guys, WE DON'T NEED EVERYTHING TO BE REALISTIC. That's the POINT OF VIDEO GAMES! This is the jail discussion all over again. If I wanted to wait a month for my hair to grow out I can just DO THAT. The point of video games IS TO ESCAPE REALITY! We do NOT NEED RANDOM RESTRICTIONS THAT WOULD MAKE THE GAME LESS FUN! What is wrong with you people!? I don't want my $500 awesome haircut for Michael to be ruined because I'm not visiting the barber. If you want stuff like this, GO PLAY THE SIMS.
