Getting haircuts in V

In SA, when you'd get a haircut you could turn it from no hair to an afro, which made no sense but then again SA is a very comical game.

V obviously, will be MUCH more realistic. So how do you think haircuts would work? IMO, what should happen is each of the protagonists' gain more facial hair and their hair starts to become more messy and less groomed if the player decides to not do anything about it. Eventually, peds would insult the player for having a bad haircut and some side missions would be unavailable as the NPC would want to hire someone who looks professional. You could revert back to the default haircut and get rid of your facial hair by shaving them both, or you could go to a barber to have your hair styled. More styles would be available as the protagonists get more hair. While having it cut, you could talk with barbers about rumors they've heard (such as locations of treasure chests underwater) and afterwards, it would get marked on your map along with the other treasures you've found. When you'd get your hair cut one way, it'd be permanently unlocked for the player to shave themselves without having to go to the barber.

EDIT: Editing this post as I didn't make it obvious enough, this thread is supposed to be humorous and a jab at players who care more for realism than having a fun game.

I agree i don't think it will be like SA this time around, i think their hair will grow overtime ( Not to much though.) and you can cut how low and style you want.

Well if its realistic you won't have much choice, unless it grows during the game. None of them have a lot of hair to cut.

Why? For god's sake why? What does it add other than pointless ass restrictions? Just keep the magic SA barbers. So what if it isn't realistic?! Say what you will about SR games, at least on their forums I never see THIS BULLsh*t!

When a game is meant to be wacky and comical it can be unrealistic.

But in a realistic game like V, it'd break the immersion. Also, the hair would grow realistically -- it would take about 30 in-game days to get to a point where you have to do something about it.

What game going for realism adds in bullet time along with other special abilities?

Speaking of which, what game going for realism lets you carry 12 weapons in your ass?

I think you've got GTA confused with mafia here, buddy.

There is a level between realism and entertainment games should not cross the line. Holding 12 weapons is there because it wouldn't work as a game otherwise. Take a look at RDR, that was a very realistic game aside from how you could use Deadeye and carry lots of weapons.

But what does locking off haircuts until you wait for your hair to grow add? What does it add? Unneeded time between you and getting the haircut you want. That's it. That's all it does. It doesn't make the game better. It adds bullsh*t from real life that's not needed and nobody really wants.

Shaving is not fun. I don't care what heavy rain told you.

When you'd shave you could either see a short cutscene of the character shaving or you could just skip it. If you wanted to skip time, you could just constantly go to bed without saving. Inconvenient yes, but it'd improve the immersion.

im with this guy. who cares if barbers are ''magical''? the alternative (real hair growth) has 2 possible negatives. 1) you have to wait for the characters hair to grow out before you can cut it. 2) get the haircut you want, and your hair keeps growing and have to get it cut again. both are a pain in the ass

So would doing your taxes, but I don't see anyone suggesting that.

It just doesn't fit in with GTA. It doesn't. I have things to do, I don't want to wait for my hair to grow out just to get the hairstyle I want.

Even THE SIMS doesn't do that. The f*cking sims doesn't do that! Do you understand that you're going overboard on the realism yet when even the sims considers your idea too realistic?

I like getting immersed in Batman Arkham City because it lets me be the batman. I don't get immersed in GTA so I can do the same damn chores I already do in real life.

So is yoga. It doesn't fit in GTA at all but it's there for immersion.

The haircut thing would just be there for immersion. R* could implement an option that disables "hair growth" and just lets you customize as you want anytime.

f*ck your realism and immersion, I want my magical barbers. If I want Franklin's clean cut hair to turn into a 'fro with a goatee, then I'll pay the man to make it so. I couldn't ever get into the whole realism=immersion deal, and I think I need someone to explain why they're so into it to me.

Also, this is thread to state your own ideas, not argue against other people for their ideas. If you want magic barbers from SA, just say so. Don't start an argument.

Honestly, it's pathetic we're arguing about hair in video games.

I agree with this. Next you people will be asking to take each of them for a sh*t because "it's realistic". The point in having crazy hair styles is so you can make the character look how you want them to look. Don't want a crazy hair style? Pick something else that would make "sense". I really hope there are a large variety when it comes to hair cuts. Hair troth is a feature that would take way to long to implement and isn't needed.

Don't get me wrong, I think "realistic" hair growth would be neat, but I don't see it happening, mostly because people would bitch about losing instant haircut choices.

i think their hair will grow overtime

Ha. Keep thinking.

I would bet on "magic barbers" making a return.

Keep thinking? Whatever bro. lol.gif You never know with rockstar, but you're probably right.

Dick Justice

Dumbest idea since petrol. It serves literally no purpose. Immersion? Ridiculous! If you complain about magical barbers, why aren't you also complaining about waking up in a hospital moments after a grenade explodes in your face?

magic barbers .

it would suck having the hairstyle you like then after a few ingame days it starts to look messy ,then you have to go back and get it cut again ... +1 for magic barbers .

I hope it is like SA! It was amazing fun to change it to and fro without any limits, being as described in the OP would only hinder the gameplay IMO

Screw realism, we are playing a game. If you want realism go outside

Remember that realism that limits gameplay experience is bad, and having to limit my haircut style if I change my mind would ruin it

Sorry to bring this question up in the middle of a full blown argument (which btw, I am all for magic barbers... hair growth... it's a game!)...

but have customisable hair styles been confirmed? And if so can someone point me in the direction of the info/source.

Thanks

Teh Edgiest Man on Earth

I am all in for magic barbers as long as there isn't any bullsh*t ghetto ass hair available for Michael (Trevor, I don't care, he kinda fits for cornrows actually).
