Nemesis2252
i dont get why this is even such a big deal. people get so worried about the map size, when its fan made maps. just wait until R* shows it (or you get the game, they might not reveal it) to judge the size. until then sit back, relax, and read the other pointless threads lol
IDredMan
So basically GTAF did all the work and they just put it on YouTube. Agreed. It looks exactly like one of the maps in the mapping los santos thread So... Only the first person on that thread made it and everyone else copied it. It's official now. TheGodDamnMaster
So, if this is accurate, we can assume that the landmass (cited to be 5 RDR maps, 2 of which are interiors/underwater) is about 36 square miles. In other words, 2 San Andreas maps and a Liberty City. In addition there are two more RDRs for underwater and interior areas. Don't expect more than 20 square miles of land. The landmass is actually 21sq miles. Source? zombie elvis
One thing I find pretty retarded about this map, is how the water behind the dam leads straight to the coast. So is the ocean just going to slope down the east side of the map to the south like a ramp? And these guys are supposed to be professionals? The whole city is actually under the ocean. Mamunda
To all who say it's small That map is UNOFFICIAL, and just a guess. No one actually knows if it's going to look like that, it's just an educated guess. Of course it can be smaller than we thought, or it can be big, we will see. Fraizer
Has the top left corner of the map been shown in any pictures yet? Not too sure, but they are def. hiding something to the east of Los Santos, there are no screenshots of the land in that direction, and in the Michael Trailer during the heli chase/shooting scene there is a convienient wall of white fog right at the edge of the city covering that directions line of site, and its not the draw distance. icandothisallday
How is that 1/6 of the map. My immediate thoughts. That map is small, too small. And now it's not just the city but the whole map that's small. dude its a guessed at map... its not the actual map. itll be ok... its not the real thing... deep breaths... deeeeeeep breaths!lol

LotusRIP
Some of you seriously set yourself up for disappointment by believing they were recreating an accurate to scale LA... they always said their cities are just caricatures of the real life city. Los Santos doesn't need to be any bigger, there's enough variety of places here to explore and big enough as it is.
saintmarks
nah I mean I jus don't think itll look like this.i suppose they have los santos basically right but R8*gave us that.I personally dnt think the map will look like this.not in terms of size/scale but the details. For a start I dnt think the countryside will look like that apart from maybe the Alamo sea location. They have zancudo river in there but no other rivers? im sure there will be a few more and maybe even one or two more small lakes dotted around there.Jus one airstrip in the countryside/desert? there will probably even be another airport.wheres the chiliad mountain area and im hoping R* throws a coastal town in there.I think the countryside/desert will have a lot more variety in it than this fanmade map and be a bit bigger, not quite asia but at least a BIT bigger. The truth is we don't know what the map looks like.there could be another planet north of LS for all we know but well have to wait till sept 17th.im not trying to belittle any have a go map makers on these forums because the truth is there are some impressive ones out there but its all speculation and guess work(for the most part) and im not taking any map of the countryside/desert area made on these forums seriously because honestly, the mere thought of the map of GTA V looking like any ive seen on here is actually depressing
Input
I think the map is good enough. It's also cool to see how close the user made maps were to this one, weren't that far off.
RichyB
You're all f*cking retards. They say there's a ton of guesswork, what do you people expect? They don't have insider knowledge, they're fans like us trying their best with mapping. And yes they took a lot from our mapping project but they clearly give massive props for that and basically said that it was an amalgamation of what they had seen around the web. Bitches acting like they should know more than us, they don't, they're working with exactly what we are. Give them a break.
CalgaryJay
I only read the first page so I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but I like how much props - right off the start too - they gave gtaforums for something similar, which they fully admitted to using as a source for this. I really like those guys. On a side note, GTA V O'clock is also where I learned that this place isn't the only major traffic GTA forum. I don't know why I always thought it was, but I did. EDIT: Just read more, so much complaining. Typical... if you guys hate it so much, then DL it, and "fix" it with where you think - complete with references - of where things go, and send it back to them. That was, you know, the whole point of them doing it. They want that to happen. Hence why they called this one v1.
canadian_wakenbacon
Wow, I think you guys underestimated R*. They specifically mentioned how the huge the map is. They release a little map and you guys think you have the whole map figured out? If that's the map, then why have planes? Why have such a long delay? Why have fast cars? R* put an emphasize on transportation. Whats the point of having a map like that with all these planes, helicopters, trucks, trains, boats, cars.....I think the map you just created is of Los Santos, but I can guarantee you there will be another city. I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE IT. If R* says somethings big other then they're cocks, it's because it is. Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches in the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created. He didn't say were not going to any other cities....mark my words Billy boy. Great job though; man that must of been a lot of work and caffeine. Mr Makaveli
Far too many long roads imo, but i think they have a rough idea of the size. I think the structure of the map will be a lot different than that
TheGodDamnMaster
I finally finished it. I think they did a great job with the "tour", it was very believable and accurate. iNero
Someone has to tell me how this is San Andreas, IV and RDR combined with space left. Imo it looks even smaller than SA. 3.5 times RDR ( only land) would even mean that LS alone is as big as RDR which defenitly isnt the case Edited May 31, 2013 by iNero

Los Santos doesn't need to be any bigger, there's enough variety of places here to explore and big enough as it is. I think Dan Statement in G.I did it He said Doing One city a Proper Version of L.A which is Area Wise the Largest City in the world, the game has to give you a sense of that sprawl - if not completely replicate it. To Split that into tow , You would loose what L.A is . So people complaints about a small city would be justified as Dan set us up for a big City expectation .
