flyboy7
They may have seen the map, but the GTA fans here had over a year to extrapolate and triangulate and calculate locations based on a complicated system of data gathering techniques rivaled only by the NSA. So unless they have parts of the official map, it's no better than our own maps. They've seen very little and the rest is actually our work. Red XIII
Why is everyone waiting on this unproven, unprestigious group of guys to make a map? They have no special pedigree and have no special info over anybody else. As a matter of fact, they are just a bunch of guys (fans like us) who happened to make a youtube channel that someone started to follow, as well as several others? So why are so many so excited about them? They have no special information, EVER. Nice work on their map, but it is grossly inaccurate based off of information we know. The GTA V Forums community of mappers is eons better then what they produced in terms of accuracy. ...they've seen the game in action. They were invited to see the live demo together with IGN and a bunch of other gaming websites and magazines. GTAForums is also an "unproven, unprestigious group of guys and no special pedigree with no special info". ...and even IF they had not seen the game in action, why not freaking let them make their map predictions aswell? Their map predictions? They used xrcore's map that he made about a week ago. If they saw the map why didn't they make a new one? If I saw the map for a split second the one thing I would have remembered is the shape of it. But as I said their map has exact same shape as xrcores map. They took inspiration and used part of the layout from his map, yes, but they didn't copy it straight of, also the general layout of that map should be fairly close to the real deal, so it's not "his" map... the level designers at Rockstar North made the map. What are you guys going to do when the game comes out... say that Rockstar North just copied your fan made maps, and that yours are better? Lol. Look at them again. The Alamo Sea layout isn't identical, and neither is the entire outskirts of the map. Sure some of the roads are very similiar, but who gives. There's not enough screens from out in the countryside to map the roads and towns there perfectly. If someone makes a good layout that fits with the overall assumption of the area And it looks like what they saw when they viewed the live demo of the game, it's better to use it. They credited everybody in the GTAForums mapping thread. If anybody else would've made a reply in that thread and change or make a map similiar to "xrcore's map" would you still have said that they ripped his map of? Knowing theese forums alot of guys problably would have, lol. I never said they ripped his map off. you said "why not freaking let them make their map predictions aswell?" And all I said is that its not their predictions, its mainly people's off this forum. Yeah they credited it I'm not saying they stole it or whatever. "so it's not "his" map... the level designers at Rockstar North made the map. What are you guys going to do when the game comes out... say that Rockstar North just copied your fan made maps, and that yours are better?" what a retarded thing to say... The whole point of these fan made maps is to try and accurately map los Santos and Blaine county so why would we say are maps are better than rockstars? I know its a joke but it was a stupid thing to say
Ryan_Hull
Reading some people's reaction in the size of the map is ridiculous, imagine pressing the start button and going on the map, how small is your character compared to this?! Was just wondering if anybody thought that the scroll for CE/SE could be too big for a map like this, I could be wrong but it looks like more map would fit om there than what is being shown in everyone's maps, not saying they aren't good because they're awesome! MosquitoSmasher
In a way i'm actually glad that we don;t know the full scale, cause i can't imagine the shock of people, if it turns out LS is only the size of Algonquin and maybe a bit of Alderney. I sure would be a bit disappointed. It really doesn't look big, LS that is, and LC DOES look very big on the map, but the scale is what's of importance here. Mafioso86
Who was is exactly that started with the SA, IV and RDR combined stuff? Is that a quote from R*? If it is I'm sure this map is way too small or the scales are just very messed up. If not maybe we all got our hopes up and will end up quite disappointed. Still, I can't help but think they're hiding something... For one there's got to be a military base somewhere on the map (where else do you get the military vehicles?). Secondly I still think the real map will be bigger than RDR (this certainly is not). If that is the case and given that a map has not been shown yet I can't help but think "What else is out there?" Will they surprise us with San Fierro and Las Venturas? Or maybe Mexico?

Game2048
In a way i'm actually glad that we don;t know the full scale, cause i can't imagine the shock of people, if it turns out LS is only the size of Algonquin and maybe a bit of Alderney. It can't be the size of Algonquin and maybe a bit of Alderney. I'm sure that Rockstar simply can't do it. At this moment I'm inclined to think that LS may be as big as LC, however it's still not enough for me. It was not enough for me in GTA IV, to be fair. And especially it's not enough for me after all those talks about how big Los Santos is, how diverse Los Santos is, how amazing this city is. Besides, it's not 2008. It's 2013, it's new, the biggest and most ambitious game from Rockstar, in which we're expecting to see "the size of San Andreas" and "well conceived, realistic world from GTA IV" at the new, higher levels. Now, after watching this video, I really feel how small this city is, how everything is close to each other. Of course I knew it before, but these were just screens. In this video everything is just presented in more visible and obvious way. Edited May 30, 2013 by Game2048
MosquitoSmasher
I can really understand people's fears for this though. They want a big sprawling city, a city where you can just drive full speed and not have to worry that you'll reach the end of the city too soon. A nice big city with enough to see and do in. I liked that a lot about GTA IV's LC, even though it did lack a lot of enterable buildings and GTA V could and should definitely correct this. @Game2048 Same size as LC or a bit bigger would be fine with me, but i'm sad to say that so far it doesn't look like that to me at all. ~INDIO~
Nobody knows the scale of this map, for all we know it might be huge even though it looks "smal"l. That's what people constantly seem to forget. Scale Seems like people are forgetting the fact that most maps looks small, before you start zooming into the detail. The map is small even when you zoom in. It ain't like google maps all, all the roads are visible. Just take a gander at the blueprint. They've said it's their biggest game by far so stop f*cking whining you spoilt little brat. jokerJG
Ok guys. I'm looking hard at this stuff. It's overwhelming to read all these posts (That arguing...YEESH!) . However, as a current resident of Los Angeles, CA (South Central, born and raised, 30yrs) the one thing I noticed is that this view is very far away from ground level. I never assumed that it was gonna be as close to a depiction of Los Angeles as many people on these boards thought it would be. But you guys got me looking at it that way. I don't post. Cuz i'm afraid my head would explode from reading all this jibber-jabber, However judging by you guys' input I'm gonna check out this mapping thread yall keep talking about. Maybe i can tack on some "native expertise" For example: I see Malibu even though it's undefined, I think what they (CVG maybe R* too) call Vespucci beach (NW of Del Parro pier) is the start of Malibu and if the map were zoomed in closer you'd be able to easily notice. I also notice that everything southeast of Hollywood seems to be cut out excluding USC/Coliseum area, Compton and Long Beach. Similar to what you see in Midnight Club:Los Angeles (MCLA) or even True Crime: Streets of L.A. Which to me is rather dissapointing and based on that. There's so much more I noticed but it's hard to explain. (Exhaustin' homie)

FurryPhilosifer
I literally just signed up to this forum for this post because Jesus Christ. It's a fan-made map. In the GTA O Clock videos, they've stated that they never saw the map during the demo. All fan-made map makers agree that they can't devise scale, and if fan-made maps worry you, just remember that Rockstar have said that the game is bigger than San Andreas, Red Dead Redemption, and GTAIV combined. So unless people think that Rockstar flat out lied, I can't imagine where these angry cries of a small game are coming from.
Choco Taco
Sizing the city to the blueprint map and using the 21.5" x 26.75" measurement of the blueprint would mean there is still room for more land in all 4 directions. I didn't include the border of the blueprint in the box above, so the map could extend to the edges depending on how much water they leave between the land and edge. TheGodDamnMaster
So, if this is accurate, we can assume that the landmass (cited to be 5 RDR maps, 2 of which are interiors/underwater) is about 36 square miles. In other words, 2 San Andreas maps and a Liberty City. In addition there are two more RDRs for underwater and interior areas. Not exactly, since many people claim that RDR map is bigger than San Andreas map. Plus you're wrong on this one. Area over the ground(including interiors) = 3,5 RDR maps. Underwater area = 1.5 RDR maps Edited May 31, 2013 by Game2048
