What are your fears for the game?

As much as we all look forward to this game, and how it could possibly be THE game of this console generation and probably beyond...but no game is perfect, and this one won't be either. I'm curious what are the things you are worried about or what are your fears for the game? I think that's the right word. I'll start with mine:

1- Camera views. GTA IV as we all know had multiple camera views for when on-foot and in vehicles. Then RDR came out and gone were the multiple cameras, for god knows what reason. Now RDR was a R* San Diego game, but still...they all help eachother out. MP3 also didn't have multiple camera views. It wouldn't destroy the game for me, but a more closer camera to the character brings more immersion for me and i'm sure i'm not the only one. It's clear that they looked at RDR and MP3 when it comes to mechanics, but hopefully they looked at GTA IV for the multiple camera options.

2- Framerate. Some sources say that the framerate is smooth, about 30 frames constantly. But they said that about GTA IV too, and it's no secret that the framerate didn't hold up all too well neither. Plenty of times it went into the 20's or lower. Look at how old the consoles now are and look at full of content V will be, and they managed to get that running at 30fps constantly? Hard time belieivng it, will believe it when i see it. Not gonna be a game breaker if it drops down into the 20's or worse at times, cause i enjoyed IV a great deal, but it's definitely a fear/worry of mine for the game.

3- The variety in missions. It seems quite clear that there will be more variety than GTA IV's missions, thanks to the character switching, but exactly how much variety will there be? The big picture in V seems to be heists, heists, heists. And as awesome as Three Leaf Clover was, i don't need all the missions like that. I truly wonder how more depth there will be to missions and what not. A great idea would be to have several missions taking place in the countryside as well. Imagine what the wildlife will/can do to some enemies that are chasing you or vice versa, lol. But this remains a bit of a fear...that this could be something that is still not totally nailed, so to speak.

4- Car handling. There has been plenty of talk on this one and i wasn't really 'worried' when Dan Houser said in the Game Informer article that the handling would be different and more like high-level racing games. The cars would hold to the ground better and what not. But then this Reddit preview guy came and said he thought the handling looked better and almost as good as MCLA. I'm sorry, but i don't consider MCLA's handling good at all, and HELL NO for a GTA game. This previewer probably got me worried about nothing, but still. If a true GTA fan was to see a demo or play it and told us that the driving is like IV but much more improved..that's enough for me. But until then, or until i get to play it myself...this remains a worry.

I really don't worry too much about the game, Rockstar very rarely lets the fans down, I just don't want Chop (Franklin's dog) to die, other then that I don't have any worries about the game.

I'm worried about the car handling too. Seriously, for me, IV is the best driving I've had in a game which isn't a driving simulator. I don't understand why anyone had major complains about it, would anyone care to explain?

I agree with statement 4. I have confidence in R*, but the handling worries me. The framerate isn't an issue, it seems, from the other previews as they all mention that the game ran smooth and there was no lagging.

In a way, though, I'm worried about the gore. The Reddit guy said it was IV level of gore, and I really hope that's not true. I wanted gore like MP3 or RDR. Even if it is IV level of gore, I hope it's not IV level of AI when you shoot the sons'a'bitches. In IV you shoot someone in both legs and they keep getting up and limping away holding their stomachs. I think the RDR system was great, if you shot someone in both legs they didn't get back up. If you shot someone right above their waist, they would be paralyzed from the waist down and crawl away. It could be improved, though, because I've had people die from me shooting them in the arm. tounge.gif

Don't worry about the gore my friend. Someone asked him how that was possible when the Franklin trailer clearly shows MP3 style bulletholes in bodies. The Reddit guy then said he actually couldn't remember the gore in IV and that the gore during the demo was no different from the trailers. And what you said about RDR, i want all of that in GTA V yes. That stuff is awesome.

It's unfortunete not a whole lot of previews have spoken about how the car handling looks, as if its not even important or something. If we look at the trailers of GTA V, the physics seem quite alright and the cars lean when turning corners, much more than in MCLA, but i wish the Reddit guy never mentioned MCLA like that. I messaged CVG about it on both youtube and twitter, but....no reply.

I'm a f*cking MAN. HOORAH.

Fears over video games is ludicrously ludicrous.

As for the fps problem in GTAIV, that's highly exaggerated, yea it dipped a little but it didn't hinder gameplay for me at all.

Think more about the right things - mindless fun will occur.

They were too boatlike. Do you drive cars in reallife as well? Does the handling feel like in GTA IV? Nope, not at all.

I'm worried (if it'll come to PC) I'll be needing Games for Windows Live again, I'm worried there's too much focus on multiplayer

and I'm worried I'll be too much guided and forced storywise.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough. It's the most FUN I've had driving in a game which isn't a driving simulator. I don't necessarily care for realism, just as long as it's not like SR (it wouldn't ever be THAT bad) or Midnight Club. I'm sure they'll just end up improving though

I have no doubt that there will be crazy amounts of non stop fun, oh for sure. But it's not a bad thing to also discuss the lesser things in this game...or well..potentially lesser.

Oh it definitely wasn't realistic how crazy some cars leaned in GTA IV, but it was a great deal better in TBOGT already, the Bufallo for example was fantastic. But if we're talking realistic, MCLA is far far from realistic, so it really shouldn't even be remotely similar. I just don't like that the dude said it though. It will remain something i will 'worry' about until i have the game myself and try it out.

Yeah it shouldn't be that realistic either.. I just hope that it will won't feel like I drive on sand or on a very wet road. But apparently it alraedy has been take care of according to the previews.

My excitability tanks shall be upheld at the highest caliber, and I will ensure that an optimistic disposition reigns until that glorious and historic day of untamed fun / exploration approaches. smile.gif My affirmed trust / support lies with Rockstar North, as they have effortlessly superseded my expectations, given the unprecedented nature of the previous trailer. Therefore, I will sell the full disclosure of my smile to Rockstar, enclosed with my highest gratitude. biggrin.gif

About the missions being too linear like

'Get into the van'

Ok what if I don't want to do that when there's a heli up on the roof to take?

We need more options and ways to complete missions. I would like to think there's at least 3 different methods to do missions. By having this, gta 5 will never be boring.

I'm not that worried about the mission variety.

If the mission variety is like:

Red Dead Redemption.

L.A. Noire.

Max Payne 3.

Grand Theft Auto IV Episodes From Liberty City.

Red Dead and L.A. Noire made such normal shootouts, firefights and chases so much more exciting than anyone could have thought, they never got old if you ask me.

Max Payne 3 richly rewarded you for doing courageous, risky and outright stupidly insane and awesome things and get away with them.

TBoGT and TLaD, you can't deny that the missions were varied, that sh*t had you stealing trains, blowing up planes and cranes and trains and rhyme all the time.

3- The variety in missions.

4- Car handling.

These two really. The missions save for three leaf clover in IV were boring to me. I never had any desire to play through the story more than once for this reason. V seems to improve the story missions at least to me with the heist system and the heists themselves. Having to do the big heists perfect shows things can and possibly will go wrong. I'd like the story to reflect if you fail or succeed in a heist and not have one set outcome. I also hope R* use all the map in missions(none story) as you rightfully said. No point having this big map if most the missions are in the city.

The car handling took some getting used to in GTA IV. I was not a big fan of it and preferred the style of past GTA games. Yes I like the arcade feel more. By the sound of it R* have moved more forward to the arcade feel.

I also have concerns about the population. Again going back to a big map I'd hate for there to be not many cars on the road, peds walking the streets, animals and so on. The world needs to feel alive.

1. Did you really expect different views on rdr? Tell me a view that would be actually good.. None and the same with MP3.

They have always had camera views in GTA, it's not going to be any different. It's actually silly to think they'll miss this out.

2. Not bothered. Whether it drops or not, it's still playable and doesn't hinder me (at least).

3. There will be more variety than any other GTA has. THIS IS GOOD. SA had a few countryside missions.. They won't miss it out simply due to the size that they have made it.

Once again, silly to think they'll do nothing with it.

4. We all want different things for the handling. It's a personal worry but however it is, it will be still fun as heck.

---

My only "fear" is that I'll get bored after a year.
