BoMBeRMeN
Hey y'all, I'm aware of the fact that none of you know what the actual process is going to be, but I'm very curious about what you guys think. The blimp is a pre-order item. The question is, how is Rockstar going to know exactly who pre-ordered it? They have to ship the game all around the world. My first thought was they're only going to be giving out blimps to the people who pre-order it in the Rockstar Warehouse. I'd hate ending up pre-ordering a CE without a blimp. Do you reckon that stores will have seperate 'code cards' for the people who did pre-order? I'm puzzled. Ideas?
d3ex2
They will include a code inside the case which unlocks access to the blimp. These codes will only be included in copies that are sold as preorders. Some stores might sell these copies to anyone who hasnt pre ordered if someone doesn't pick up their pre order. For example, I pre ordered so I'll get a code but I only have 24 hours to pick the copy up then it will be made available for purchase for anyone who just strolls in and buys a copy. Raynos
I think I know what you mean OP. Like the previous poster has said. The blimp will actually be in everyone's copy of the game. You get your code and then you unlock access to the blimp.. I'm rather disgusted at Rockstar for doing such a thing.. They've never put day one DLC in their GTA games before. The blimp has become iconic from the first time we saw the GTA V trailer and then the screenshots. To hinder such a blimp behind a pay wall, bah.. very disappointed. Ofcourse, I'll be pre-ordering, so it won't be an issue for me, however, The principle is what matters.

If it's the former, it's something I never thought I'd see from R*. They are lowering themselves to Capcom & Volition level practices and is just a slippery slope, one which they've managed to avoid until recently. I don't need a blimp to make me pre-order a game. Edit: If it's just a special version of the blimp, then fine. They shouldn't be so misleading with their words. epicluca
There will be a code in the case, but the code will probably come with anyplace you pre-order from so basically no one misses out on the blimp because you can even just buy the codes on e-bay or something Also on a sidenote has anyone noticed that the Atomic Blimp is based off of the Goodyear blimp? You get a code, You download a 100KB unlock file and boom, you've got access. Now, I've only seen one blimp in the game, which is the Atomic blimp. Does anyone know if there's more than one type of blimp in GTA V? From screenshots and trailers? If so, then that's Ok, Its only cosmetic. However, if standard users or users who have not pre-ordered GTA V get no access, or access via pay wall... Its a sad day for Rockstar.
bfett21
The fact of the matter is this may be coming from Take 2, rather than Rockstar itself. Remember, Rockstar is a wholly owned subsidiary of Take 2 Interactive, the Housers get their orders from Zelnick. Not that it's a good thing, but a lot of Take 2 games lately have been going with the 150 dollar special edition route, namely Bioshock Infinite. Not defending it, just pointing it out. I actually thought the Atomic blimp would be your own personal blimp that will be standing at the airport or something. And that you won't get a wanted level if you take it for a ride... While, if you take other blimbs, you get a wanted level. Don't know why I thought this...

TBH, you not paying extra to get the blimp, its just to get more people to pre order the game. Rockstar hav done far worse. Charging money for maps in red dead redemption, maps that were on the disc already because its an open world game. That is far worse than what they are doing here but no one cared back then. Fisha695
If you read the actual description of the thing it's not "exclusive" or a "special blimp" it's that you get access to it right away & always. What that means is in addition to the blimp that's randomly flying over the map there will always be one docked for the player to use if you pre-order, whereas those that don't pre-order or get the game later will have to try and find the blimp when it's docked which won't be all the time. Also chances are it's not something that is restricted specifically to pre-orders, however it's something that is placed in the case of every first-run copy of the game. kurvenflo
Do you reckon that stores will have seperate 'code cards' for the people who did pre-order? I thought about that, too. Since I didn't pre-order online, but instead bought that poster at my local MediaMarkt, I asked them, how the access to the blimp will work for me. They answered, that I actually didn't pre-order by buying the poster. I just made a reservation for a copy of V. So, now I'm really confused. I guess I'll have to transcribe the 5€ I paid for the poster and make an additional online pre-order for being able to fly the blimp. I just don't want to risk not being able to fly any kind of a blimp if there won't be a normal version of it...

But, for anyone who has played a Rockstar game on current generation consoles, we all know that it will 1) be available later on in the game or 2) Be available on the marketplace after release. My thoughts, though, is that the pre order gives you immediate access, where a standard edition buyer will have to work to access the blimp. OliRow
They say it's a pre-order bonus, but usually what happens with these pre-order bonuses is that the first batches of the game sent to every shop will have the code, like the Nuketown 2025 pre-order for Black Ops 2, as long as you bought the game within the first few days you would've got the code, even without pre-ordering. Bantri
Or Rockstar would send you an email if you bought the game from them. Any retail stores may print the code on the receipt. I know Bestbuy and Gamestop have done that before.

Alec Skorpio
Dollars to donuts, every new copy of the game is going to have some sort of code you use to unlock the blimp. Companies have been doing this for a year or two now, where they claim if you have to pre-order to get something special, but it really ends up being with every copy of the game. Hell, I got Army of Two a few months ago, and they said that if you preordered you got the "over kill edition" with special weapons and such. Turns out, the over kill stuff was the online pass, so every new copy got those weapons.
