johnny_zoo
Something that really adds to the immersion of an open-world game or even linear game is wind and its effects. So many games neglect this feature and it costs them i think. If this were implemented well it would increases the realism a hundred-fold! Wind breathes life into an environment. I am now playing Max Payne 3 and while it has some excellently textured environments. It could have more life if I could see evidence of wind on the environment. It would ground the scence in reality like chimes clangling quietly. I watched a Watch Dogs preview and they have trees that sway violently in strong gusts. Litter sweeps and swirls across the roads and in alleyways. This is amazing stuff. Rockstar need to take note. I am fully wanting to see some really cool wind effects. Especially since there are storms now: -trees blow and sway like real life -litter sweeps across more pronounced and obvious with varying patterns -smoke & car fumes blow strongly in one direction -helicopters and jets face turbulence when we fly higher into the sky -peds can be seen bracing against a windswept day (similar to peds carrying umbrellas in IV) -rain spray can be seen blowing in the direction of the wind -importantly characters clothing should clearly be blown about when walking around (I remember seeing this in VC and thinking it was beautiful) There are already huge storms confirmed. Look at this cool shot. And this one. These are clearly some serious storms. Rockstar would not include this in a half-assed fashion. What comes with lighting storms but wind speeds of 100mph. I am expecting to see a significant effect of wind on the city/countryside around us when its really bad weather. Like: -palm trees in the desert should bend under the force -our character can even be blown off his feet if the gusts are strong enough - and would be funny to see Wind although easily forgotten is really important to a believable and lifelike city. Rockstar have only done this in a small way up until now but if other games have this done now I'm expecting Rockstar to go one better. Maglev
I thought about this recently and I agree. Standing on the pier with a strong seawind! Or maybe even sailing, but that probably won't happen. I also noted that the sky and clouds look really nice in the game. But at trailer 1 the clouds move extremely quick lol.
Scampi
In trailer 1 with the hikers on the mountain you could see the tree branches rustling. Afterward I put in RDR and noticed the trees actually move there too, which I never noticed before. It's funny all the minor details you still learn about years later. MikeyBelic
It's been confirmed somewhat. Watch dogs will have it later this year. Do you realise how insanely difficult it is to add any elements, let alone wind?
DMan304
RDR had this. Flags and cloth awning and your own coattails all blew in the wind, and in the right direction too. Also in storms it blew harder and the trees rocked and swayed harder.

Red XIII
I don't think there will actually be wind but certain objects are programed to move so it looks like there is wind. You would need millions of digital transparent particles flying around in order for their to be wind and that's a tall order for ps3 and xbox 360. Murad96
In Michael's trailer in the red car scene, the bushes and leaves do move about. And the flags move about a lot.
BlackNoise
I like most of the list, but none of the stuff that affects the player. -trees blow and sway like real life -litter sweeps across more pronounced and obvious with varying patterns -smoke & car fumes blow strongly in one direction -helicopters and jets face turbulence when we fly higher into the sky -peds can be seen bracing against a windswept day (similar to peds carrying umbrellas in IV) -rain spray can be seen blowing in the direction of the wind -importantly characters clothing should clearly be blown about when walking around (I remember seeing this in VC and thinking it was beautiful) -palm trees in the desert should bend under the force -our character can even be blown off his feet if the gusts are strong enough - and would be funny to see
TheKrigeron
What I'm really looking forward to is Big storms, and even Hurricanes if we're lucky. If there is a strong wind at the oposite direction of your car The controller must vibrate violently as you increase sped, but if it is in the same direction and you go down a hill your car Is lifted a bit and you will have a huge crash, even better just imagine the already mentioned hurricane so much possibilities A boy can dream, right? This, it seems they've made it bit of a point to show things moving with the wind.
Darth_Starkiller
Didn't anyone notice palms slowly shaking in the wind during the intro of trailer 1? Also, there are in the same trailer lots of other examples of wind. Also, in trailer 2, even the potted plants by the pool moved. Porbably there are also many other examples too. Niick99
Baffles me how there are so many threads on this, but people keep insisting on making more than once a week. We all know the weather will be realistic, that is all THREAD DESTROYED

Hurricanes in San Andreas(California)? We've gotten a Tornado warning once or twice in the past couple of years, but we've never had a hurricane, water is too cold. ALeSsAnDrO
WD is set in Chicago, hence the emphasis on the wind stuff. There will be enough signs of wind in GTA, nothing major, but then again, who cares if the gameplay doesnt depend on it.
