Bantri
Just reding the IGN preview by Keza Macdonald on google and she says " the world looks more open reactive and detailed than before, both within the CITIES and the countryside". Maybe this is a spelling mistake but on the other hand surely Rockstar must check what the press have written before they publish their previews so wouldn't they have told IGN to correct this if it's a mistake ? Hmmm. It's referring to the smaller areas outside Los Santos, there will be other small towns, which can be considered cities.
Choco Taco
I still believe there is a 2nd smaller city in the game based on several things seen in screenshots or written about, guess we'll have to wait and see. Highly Doubt it because all of these people e.g. CVG Game Informer would have told us as they have seen the Map. I don't think they saw the northern part of the map. I read that CVG said they only saw around a 280 degree view. With the size that Los Santos looks, a second smaller city wouldn't have to be too big. Hollywood4Life
I would like to believe Las Venturas will be in it because I bet Michael has Oceans 11 in his dvd collection. We will see 17th September yall It would be an AWESOME surprise if they at least included the Las Vegas/Las Ventures strip somewhere in the desert. Rockstar would blow our minds with this, and it would allow them to give us a casino heist!

Making a Strip exploding in neon in the middle of nothing without the rest of the city sounds too post-apocalyptic for me. But it's only me... BUT THE BENZ
Wait ... didn't we get some wrong infos by IGN some months ago? I don't remember about which they wrote, but I only know it was something completely wrong just for getting more visitors and attention. they said that CJ couldn't swin in GTA SA. They're dead to me
bwasroy
This appears to be nothing more than mere semantics. "Cities" could be large recreations of other major US metropolitan cities, but "cities" could (and probably) just as easily means the other small towns in the area that Trevor resides. I don't ever remember Rockstar pulling out an enormous surprise like that? RDR was by the books and so was La Noire. Have they made significant last minute reveals in the past? seVensantos
You must really have been fighting the urge to make "San Fierro and Las Venturas confirmed!" the topic title. this line alone should have ended this thread. mucho
bwasroy
^ Besides when they decided the Xbox exclusive wasn't exclusive anymore? Never. I don't think a last minute decision to go multi-platform rises to the level of surprise that a last minute reveal there is actually another major large playable city in the game does. (This would be akin to not disclosing information about Mexico in RDR until the very last minute.) It's simply not characteristic of Rockstar. (From the LA Noire, Red Dead and Max Payne releases you could essentially guess with some certainty the entirety of the narrative laid out before even holding the game in your hands.) In my first post, I tried to guess at the narrative structure as we know it so far and there's simply not any clue or indication that such a major elements exists, assuming of course that Rockstar is keeping this element out of the game entirely and being very selective about what information they're releasing. (Also, of course Rockstar did make that announcement they were being very methodical and selective as to what they release so maybe they are playing us a bit. I certainly hope so, I'd love to see modern satirical visions of the surrounding communities.)
saintsrow
I think the other "city" in GTAV is a sprawling, squalid Burning Man / Occupy tent city out in the desert, teeming with disease and open sewers, drugs, alternately raging and stoned unemployed meth-heads, juggalos, and Epsilonists. KrushLTx10
This got me wondering. In the GTA V demo shown to press I don't recall them seeing the map from end to end when Franklin was free-falling. They did say the person playing only focused on what was in front of Franklin which was LS and some of Blaine County. Maybe there's something lurking out there in the countryside? If you think R* has shown their entire hand regarding the map of GTA V you may be right but this is R* after all. Were the specific details of where GTA IV was set (as in all of the playable area) revealed this early before release? They have surprised us in the past and my money is that they will surprise us in the near future. There just has to be at least a couple more tricks up R*'s sleeve regarding this game because it is their biggest and most ambitious according to them. If the trick regards the map I don't know. But I will predict R* will reveal something groundbreaking within these last 4 months of the wait. I myself think that it's something involving multiplayer but it could be something regarding the map.. notice how they've only restricted us to some specific areas in what they've shown us in screenshots and in trailers. zuckmeslow
I have a feeling there is another city. But not san fierro or las veturas. Im thinking something based off anaheim with the glory hole theme park parodying disneyland. Maybe they will call it analheim.

EvilFuture
I remember seeing in the 1st trailer, the scene with the electric fans turning and the Bobcat kicking dust up...way in the distance you can just make out a tall red bridge. Which reminded me of Golden Gate bridge > San Fierro maybe? Not calling you a liar, as I pointed the San Fierro Bridge looking thing out in one of my older Youtube videos, but I don't see it. All I see is a mountaintop covered in snow to the far left. I even changed the brightness and contrast, and still... nothing Here is the San Fierro thing I pointed out Looks red and doesn't look like the bridge we've seen. I'm expecting there's only gonna be one city, and if there is more than one I'll be surprised. Otherwise I'm fine with it. GrahfTheEmperor
This is very suspect. I wouldn't be surprised if there were another great city in the game after we play it for the first time. It's a secret they are keeping locked under 7 layers.
_StackS_
This is ign were talking about here. I've encountered so many things wrong in their analysis and what not its sad. If you want something accurate then go to cvg. Greg miller from ign tried to say that the vinewood sign in the first trailer was new to the series amongst many of other mistakes. If someone is going to be doing an analysis on something gta then I actually want somebody who played them not some so called journalist who jumped the band wagon and played gta iv so he feels qualified to do it... sorry my wholw point is that if your looking for good ign news then just go to cvg and stay away from ign
ainsz
I the only thing that supports another city so far to me is how heists and the central theme of money could lead into Casino jobs in LV. Maybe it's just because I love the idea so much. Edited May 30, 2013 by ainsz
The Hate
IF there is another major city I highly doubt it will be based on San Diego, as San Diego is 111 miles(179km) southeast of LA and from what we have seen of the map there is nothing south of Los Santos. Furthermore, I do not think they will put a San Diego based city north of Los Santos as that would not make sense geographically. FelipeVinhao
^ I highly doubt (even more now that part of the map was revealed) that a San Diego look-alike will be added, considering how the south part of the map was designed. But it was the only "other" city that I imagined it'd be added to game before all these news. Also, like I said on the other topic, maybe the term "cities" (plural) was correctly used, considering Santa Monica and Compton aren't actually part of Los Angeles City... dyspoid
This isnt the kind of suprise Rockstar would leave till now. I believe it is just a casual way of speaking. I would be ecstatic if LV was included, but i am not getting my hopes up. However, given the pattern rockstar has used, i think we have one semi important suprise left that we will see close to release to cause hype to explode and stimulate sales. Something. They wouldn't just casually mention cities in the plural hoping some eagle-eyed fan would decipher a grand implication. Ok, just to avoid any misunderstanding, let's just ignore what I said on some topics about Los Santos being actually multiple cities, just like it's real life counterpart (LA, Santa Monica, Compton...). Isn't this plural refering to the other towns on countryside? I mean, even in GTASA we had relatively big towns besides the 3 main ones. Don't you remember Palomino Creek? Maybe we'll have even bigger towns this time.
