GTASuspectOnFoot
I like to kill gang members when I see them. So I got in a gun fight with a Russian mobster near Hove Beach. Before I finally killed him, he said something along the lines of, "You won't get away with this." or "You haven't seen the end of this." I left the general area without anyone chasing me. About 5 minutes later, Russian mobsters ambush me with two vehicles, guns blazing... Has anyone else experience this apparently half scripted event? It was different from the typical gang fight where, upon attacking one member, other members on the same street start shooting at you. This was seperate attack... epicluca
It sort of happens when you ram cars like they start chasing you and if the occupants are armed they shoot you, are you sure you didn't ram a russian mobster car by accident
GTASuspectOnFoot
I am not 100% sure...I might have hit a Russian car. I just remember it seeming really sudden and out of seemingly nowhere.

albanyave
I just startred a 4th play through of of GTA IV and have noticed a few things that I didn't before. I'm still in Hove Beach and a lot of the Russians are talk to me. They are saying things like "leave, what are you doing here, you don't belong here". I have killed more Russians or gotten into more fights this time around. Someone attacked me in that area behind the street vendor near Comrades Bar and I shot and killed him. A little while later I was walking on Crockett Ave and a couple of Russians attacked me for no reason.

This happens when you stumble or run into one or when you listen to their conversation for too long or when you stand near one for too long. Almost every gang gets pissed when you do one of these things. Only ones who don't get mad are the Jamaicans. Go to Little Italy, Chinatown or Acter and you are guaranteed to be attacked when you stand around for too long.
Gnocchi Flip Flops
I just got ambushed for no reason by the Russian Mafia: I hailed a cab near the Sex Shop in Hove Beach and got in. The cab guy was about head for Dukes/Broker Expressway but we got stuck in traffic whilst trying to make a U-turn. Well some Russian thug pulled out a knife on a pedestrian in front of us and starting slicing him up until he was dead. What puzzled me was that this thug ran towards me -- just spectating in the rear cabin of the cab -- but luckily the cab hit him and then he could not get to me due to a wagon rear ending the cab I was in. But then the guy in the wagon got out with a mini machine gun and starting spraying and praying at me killing the cab driver. Another mobster got out a shotgun! I didn't even disturb these mobsters I just wanted a cab ride!
RoadRunner71
^ no country for cab riders lol Only ones who don't get mad are the Jamaicans. Well, maybe they don't get annoyed if you're messing around them but just one shot and the whole hood will be after you with micro-uzis. I took a brick in a backyard at some squares of the Homebrew Café, where I headed to right after. Once I was there I hit a Jamaican guy with the brick and few seconds later I had tons of Jamaicans shooting at me, getting out the cafe and coming from other parts of the neighborhood with uzis

D- Ice
Free-roam gangs fascinate me in GTA 4, with how detailed an varied they are. I am just wondering how you guys manage to get into so much shootouts with the gangs? In my experience, the cops always show up as soon as you kill one member, and ruin the entire fun, so I never managed to explore this. How do you guys deal with this, do you use cheats to remove wanted level. I would really love to try some of those things out, but keep getting disturbed by the cops. PS: Or do you guys do that stuff during missions where the cops don't get called up?

They're protecting their neighborhood in this case. @D-Ice I use Simple Native trainer which allows never wanted and god mode options.
