UK preorder

In light of the announcement about the Atomic Blimp, I am definitely planning to preorder GTAV. I was planning to preorder from Tesco online, but I saw a post on here the other day saying that a preorder from Tesco was two weeks late.

 

So I just wondered what experience people have of preordering in the UK. Who is best/worst? Who is most likely to send it early ( )?

 

Also, another point that has been bugging me is what exactly is meant by "preorder". Does preordering explicitly imply paying the full price for the game in advance and having it delivered, or does the £5 deposit you can put down in some shops count (in terms of access to the blimp?

I pre-ordered at GAME. The GAME in Sunderland still has CE's left, too.

GAME. Pre-ordering is either free(certain shops) or you pay a small deposit.

 

When you go to pick your game up you pay the rest. Ordering online with GAME, i believe you pay full whack at once. Not sure though, usually just walk in the shop and pick mine up.

Pre-order with Amazon or Game.

 

Game state that their free delivery will ensure pre-orders are released in time for release date dispatch. Nearly all pre-orders from Game will arrive on release date. This does apply to the special and collectors edition pre-orders however they state that with special editions, they cannot 100% guarantee release date delivery. So select the first class £4.95 shipping. This is what I did. That will ensure you get it on release date or perhaps before. If you order the collectors edition it will arrive by courier anyway. They state that orders will Royal Mail cannot be guaranteed for release date shipping as royal mail cannot make this guarantee (even though most royal mail orders arrive on release date anyway).

 

Amazon I think also require you to select a premium shipping to have it on release date.

 

I'd go with game.

Although, if I remember correctly, weren't Game in financial trouble recently? I don't think they went the way of HMV, but I seem to remember reading that their sales were dropping badly. There'd be nothing worse than Game going bankrupt on us (although maybe I am being too cautious..?)

I ordered mine at a website called gamestophut or something the last time & have sinced preordered all the call of duty's from there, every single game i get it either a day or two days earlier.

in that case, pre-order with both and then cancel one a week before release date

 

Not sure if you will get your £20 deposit back from Game if you cancel though.

I think, on the balance of it all, I'll just go for Game, and pay a bit extra for a faster delivery. If this choice backfires on me, you may all laugh at me. Cheers again everyone!

 

EDIT: I notice on the Game website, under game description, they explicitly mention Mt Chiliad. I didn't think the name had been confirmed? Though it's of course in no way official and is probably just some Game employee assuming the name.

I pre-ordered from my local GAME store because I'm getting the CE, I was going to pre-order with Amazon or another online shop but the post service round where I live is shocking, it wouldn't come till like 4-5PM on the release day, easier to just go into town and get it at 9am.
