they should just remove the digital content from special and digital versions and put them in the regular game. that way i can change my preorder from collectors to standard. yes, im that stupid to pay $90 bucks just for in game content. ive waited for this game so long, and followed it every day since announce looking for new info.... to miss out on any in-game content is inexcuseable. that map, hat, bag, and ''collectors'' box will just get thrown in my closet to rot. f*cking R* ''cutting'' content from the game to add to the ''holy sh*t'' package. but bitching wont change it....

Some people save money to buy the extra content. And I cannot blame them. GTA is a franchise that is strong, hardcore and you'll always get what you pay for.

 

Im in for the SP experience. The extra content is fun, but doesn't contribute to the story in any way.

I am pretty sure they will release it further down the line mate, it always happens but if your a true colector like myself you'll get the Coll ED for the physical items and not just for the dlc! Just get the SE it that's all your arsed about!

I rather have exclusive access to said content than have it release later down the pipeline, at a lower price point for everyone. I'm rather fond of exclusive items really, the resale value of them alone often times justifies investing the extra bucks. Now from a business perspective It'd be better to make them exclusive or at least for the foreseeable future, as that would add a lot incentive to the purchase of the premium edition. Resulting in more revenue.

First of all you do get "exclusive rights" been as you get the content several months before others. You are also paying for the DLC given the price of these editions just as others will pay for the DLC once it's avaible to everyone.

 

Collectors editions and the special edition won't be on sale months after the game comes out and that's the thing here. Come to think of it the collectors edition is sold out in many places and "limited" meaning once they are sold that's it. The same can be said for the special edition. Due to this the DLC will be sat there doing nothing so in order to get more revenue developers release the content to everyone. This isn't the first time R* have done this. The only exclusive thing people who buy these editions get is the swag. I mean that Max Payne 3 statue looks awesome. Kinda wish I'd bought that edition now.

I agree and disagree with the OP. It is annoying that you can't truly get something exclusive for paying extra. R* should at least say "early access", because it seems a bit shady how they handle the SE and CE in-game bonuses.

 

But I also think people would go nuts if they couldn't get that sh*t later. I don't really care about those people(no offence ), but they would be pretty vexed and R* would have to deal with it. On the other hand, less people will buy the CE next time since they would know everybody will get a chance to get it later.

 

 

And to people who are still debating in their head, R* has confirmed the digital bonuses will be available later with their deliberate wording in this statement...

I can't believe I just now noticed that. They're protecting themselves so people don't go after them for selling "exclusive" digital content to non-exclusive customers. Special can mean anything. Only the physical items are actually exclusive.

It's called the collectors edition not the collect some and everyone can have the rest edition, also no one wants to pay alot of money for something then see everyone have it later on, like you feel good playing as Claude online then every f*cking person in the match is Claude rendering the whole exclusivity pointless, that's all i'm trying to say.

Just think of it like this.

 

If R* are going to release the DLC at a later date for regular users to PURCHASE, then people who buy the collectors edition are simply purchasing it early.

 

edit: Your not just buying the 'hat and bag' your still buying the DLC it's just you'll buy it early.

 

So whatever happens people will have to buy the DLC. And the price of the DLC will be included in the overall price of the collectors edition. It's when the DLC is released on it's own at a later date when we will find out how much that hat, bag and deluxe box really cost us.

 

So I suppose us Collectors Edition buyers are really paying for the ability to have something 'early' before everyone else. That may seem pretty s*ite when you fork out £120 for a game however it's GTA, so it's worth it

 

However if R* release the DLC at a later date for FREE, then I can see why people who bought the collectors edition would be pissed.

Yep, you're right. I didn't buy RDR until early 2012 and I got those things for FREE! I got the GOTY edition. The standard version was actually dearer for some reason...

 

Same will happen with GTA V. You think you're paying for exclusive digital content but in two years time somebody will go out and buy the COMPLETE edition and get all this "exclusive" stuff pretty much for free.

 

Don't kid yourselves on. Rockstar/TakeTwo is a business and businesses make money. That's why they aren't saying they will release it later on because if they do less people will pay £65/120 and just get the standard version. Also, they'd be idiots not to make it available for everyone. They could make even more money and what kind of business turns down an opportunity to make money?

 

Rockstar only care about you because they get your money. Sure they make great games and it's full of people who love making and playing games. They want to make amazing games for you...so you'll give them your money.

I'm sorry, maybe I want it but I can't afford it. It is quite unfair if all you rich bastards just want the good stuff to yourselves. I think they will give it to everyone either by with Microsoft points, or Sony points (w/e they are called) for about 800, or game of the year edition. (or both)

I buy a new rare Ferrari with 100 000 $. After six months everybody can buy a new Ferrari with 100 $, but without cap & bag in the trunk. Collector's Edition is A COLLECTOR'S Edition. Not Everybody's Edition.

 

And that's why I think - nobody wants Collector's Edition, because it is not COLLECTOR'S edition. The name should be "Early Bird's Edition".

I see nothing but hilarity in the OP. First of all, I am pretty certain that R*, by days end, will completely forget that they received that email. Shit they probably forgot a couple of minutes after they responded to you. And that line about "only those who truly love the game.." is just flat out stupid. Last time I checked, the people that love the game are the ones who will end up buying it, this coming from someone who will get the CE. One measly person from a forum sending them an email, basically telling them how to operate the flow of their product, means nothing to them, simply because they know what the hell they are doing. You begging them to not make their specific product available to consumers is just laughable and pathetic. A business is not going to miss out on money.

 

I pose a question to all the geniuses that are saying things like "the CE and SE are only for the hardcore fans". Say if R* never announced, and thus, was never going to release a Complete Edition or Special Edition. If the standard edition were to be the ONLY one released, what would be your definition of a "hardcore fan" then?

This thread makes me laugh. The only reason you are wanting to keep the digital content of the CE from becoming available to others at some point is because you don't want to feel stupid for laying down almost 3 times the amount as the regular version.

 

If you want the CE for the random junk it comes with, then go for it. But keep in mind that you are still getting ripped off. I can go get a locking security bag on EBAY for $16 and a cap for $10. Sure, it may not have the GTA V logo, but who cares? Besides, I'm not going to buy those either. I mean, when am I ever going to need a locking cash bag? Oh yeah... never. I wouldn't really consider it secure as somebody could just steal the bag, which you're basically begging for if you actually plan on using it. The map is neat but worthless. The steel book with artwork is in the same boat as the map.

 

The only thing about the CE that interests me at all is the digital stuff, but not enough for me to drop $150 of my hard-earned money. The "exclusive" digital content is undoubtedly going to end up being a timed exclusive that I can get for a few bucks in several months.
