Durden
I find Nerf to be incredibly childish. The guns are just designed so poorly. Airsoft is more my style
Oddsock
Haha, calling Nerf childish and trying to boast about Airsoft. Oh please. One time my buddies and I bought $60 worth of foam dart gun equipment (it wasn't Nerf but a knockoff company that was cheaper). We turned off the lights in the basement, turned on some weird ass music, and just started stalking and shooting until about 4AM. Dart guns are hella fun. GTAforthe21thcentury
I don't neccesarily like nerf or airsoft. The only airsoft guns in have are just my favorite models of guns. My favorite type of toy guns are steel BB guns.

Its just such a pain in the ass. You run outta bullets, you dont know if you hit the person, reloading usually sucks balls, etc... Btw I dont own any airsoft guns. Instead, I own an AirHawk 490 FPS Pellet gun. But, you know, I guess Nerf is pretty badass too.

Harley
Seriously what is Nerf actually? Is it like Airsoft as well? It's a small yellow South American rodent. The bullets are made from the newborn Nerf babies.

For the record, I used to play in Airsoft matches (just pickup games, never professionally or anything) and really enjoyed it. I would in fact like to get back into it, but I never had any illusions that it was a "badass" hobby. Same with Nerf guns. ExtremeLimitations, you can just Google what Nerf is, but basically it's a company that manufactures plastic toy guns that shoot foam, broad-head darts. They have all kinds of models from basic pistols to sniper rifles, even to battery-operated belt-fed tripod-mounted machine guns. It's pretty crazy. There are similar brands that are cheaper and less fancy, but Nerf has such a grip on the toy dart gun industry that it's become the catch-all term for those kinds of toy guns, kind of like how people refer to iPod as a term for almost any MP3 player (as in they will ask "what songs do you have on your iPod?" instead of "on your MP3 player?") I think the best thing about foam dart guns is that pretty much everyone enjoys them. They are great for pranks, casual goofing around, and even competitive play. Kids love them, adults love them, and you could hand a dart gun to a stranger on the street and they would probably start shooting back for fun just as much as a best friend in your house would. Of course, downsides are they can easily break and you lose the darts SO easily... But who cares, dart guns are fun.
gtamann123
Seriously what is Nerf actually? Is it like Airsoft as well? It's kind of like a little kids version of airsoft. The guns shoot a foam dart type thing. Usually with a suction cup at the end. It's not marketed as a sporting thing like airsoft is but as just a regular child's toy. But there are people who use it for casual sporting. E: That new Nerf gun seems awesome!! Edited May 29, 2013 by gtamann123

But remember, don't try and be all mature just because you think that's what society wants or whatever. You only get one childhood, enjoy it. Master of San Andreas
@Ochy - I'm not trying to be mature, I only lost interest a year ago and at that time I wasn't really into gaming, 2012 however for some reason I became interested in games and computers and thus lost interest in things like Nerf. I've also really enjoyed my childhood days and when I think of them it feels very nostalgic.

LittleBlueTroll
Nerf guns are awesome. Created a many a fun hour for me at work (When i am actually meant to be working) Found one upstairs once along with a plastic bow and arrow, apparently the had them for the customers to play with during the Olympics, then when the Olympics ended they was "hidden" upstairs. I found them though. Used to target practice with empty cans of coke, manager wasn't best please when he caught me and my mate. And even though we're English and live in England, he told me I'm meant to be an adult at work, and this isn't kindergarten. Strange guy. Anyway here is me getting my stealth on. Although not that stealthily as someone took a photo
Kwabs
I've never really owned a nerf gun, but they're quite awesome. I remember going to London a few weeks ago, and I was walking in Regent St with a few mates, and we saw Hamley's. So we just entered the store and it was really the most incredible store I've ever seen tbh. But anyway, on the 2nd floor they have some kind of nerf-playground where lil' kids were shooting with nerf guns. So we stood there for a minute and I had something like 'f*ck it, I'm going in.' So I just took the biggest gun I found and started shooting at the target, between other 7-year-olds. And then my friends came and we just started shooting at each other. Ahh great nerf times... Airsoft is more my style I guess you're the kind of guy that finds laserquest boring and childish too. No idea how you came up with that conclusion after my post. -Lasertag does not require annoying reloading. -Lasers beams do not get lost or broken. -Laserquest is actually fun in the darkness -Laserquest takes place in professionally designed architectural areas. Not small basements or open backyards. I'm always down for a game of Lasertag. @Moonshield: Nerf Flails are non-existent
Moonshield
Right - it was a mace. But if that's the only puny argument you can muster, then I feel really sorry for you. You're really missing out on nerf wars - even in uni I had a fantastic time modifying nerf guns to shoot faster and further, not to mention all-out firefights popping up in studio space and random parties. You're really missing out on nerf wars - even in uni I had a fantastic time modifying nerf guns to shoot faster and further, not to mention all-out firefights popping up in studio space and random parties. I'd hardly consider my remark as an argument. It was simply in response to your comment regarding the Nerf melee weapons. I had no idea they even existed, so I searched up all 3 to only find the first 2. As for arguments against nerf guns, I indirectly listed 4 of them in my last post when I compared Nerf to Lasertag. I have had some moderately fun times with them, but it seems like there's never really any appropriate times to use them. When I play Nerf, we play(ed) seriously, with S&D rules. Nobody ever admits to being shot, though, so the whole thing turns to sh*t.
