Saints Row IV won't even get 1/8 of GTA sales and awards. The person who wrote it just doesn't like Rockstar Games or GTA. So they wanted to make GTA look bad.

You know, I enjoy saint row for the stupid game it is...but they literally just cut and pasted 80% of saints row 3 and slapped a Saints row 4 sticker on it. GTA 5 is ENTIRELY new and fresh. GTA wins in every category.

Honestly if Saints Row 3 had been a sequel to Saints Row 2 and if Saints Row 4 was then a sequel to that....they may well have been able to be a more carefree alternative to GTA...

 

The route they've taken though has made them just incomparable to the GTA series. It's not even on the same wavelength.

 

You've got one dramatic beautifully crafted series that comes out WHEN IT'S DONE, then you've got an absurd crass rushed out series that turns DLC into a full game.

I enjoyed Saints Row 2 for what it was. An alternative experience to GTA. Not saying it was better than GTA but it was a different experience. Haven't played Saints Row 3 and now Saints Row 4 looks to up the ante with differentiating Saints Row from GTA for better or for worse. My money is people will ignore Saints Row IV and wait for GTA V while the few people who do go out and buy SR will go onto every social media outpost they can and voice how insane, crazy and fun the game is. They'll be gone within a month and GTA V will swoop in hauling in what could possibly be record breaking sales. Ugh, September can't come soon enough.

 

Also Mafia 2 had potential.. until you realize there isn't anything productive to do outside of the main story except 1 or 2 activites. Anyone know when Mafia 3 comes out? Because they can't just ignore the fact that it was completely bland outside of the story if they are making Mafia 3.

When I first played Saints Row 2 I hated it. Couldn't stand, thought the graphics were ****. Just put it down (bought it used for a nice savings) and ignored it.

 

Picked it up a month or two down the line. Played through the first gangs missions. After that I liked it pretty damn good. Not as much as SA but still fun as hell. Had my Avatar pretty much set up the same I had CJ for SA. Big, cornrows, vandyke, biker. Good stuff.

I actually hope that Volition is mad about that article and about what Deep Silver said. Because remember when Volition said that they don't want Saints Row to compete with GTA anymore because it's at a totally different approach now? They can't be happy about that statement. Or wait a minute, DID THEY TELL THEM TO SAY THAT? Anyways what Deep Silver is doing is completely childish. So what if GTA V doesn't have that so called American VTOL, it still has two fighter jets. And even though Saints Row 4 has the VTOL, it's rarely going to be used because the game now has superpowers, so what's the point of that argument? I hope that there are YouTube videos about this.

Games that give you the best weapons 2 missions into the game don't really give me enough challenge. Not much to work towards IMO.

 

Also, every Saints Row has felt very disconnected to me. What I mean to say, is the control physics is so weak and the cars drive so unrealistically that I couldn't even really get into the game enough to keep playing it.

 

Saints Row always seemed like the game made for people with no patience.
