Sup, bitches. I discovered that there is an area similar to this not too far from where I live.

 

 

What is the proper name for this? What do you call a place like this? I was thinking "underpass" but that doesn't seem right. Anyone have a clue. Sort of at a dead end here... Haha...

Jk I think it is just called flood control. They have one in LA( obviously as seen above ) and they call it a river.

It's a ditch, a concrete lined ditch. They're everywhere in Socal since the region's so hilly they keep all of the runoff from flooding the valley areas.

I think it's called a canal. Canals are, by definition, man-made channels.

 

Ones made of concrete aren't called anything special.

 

I'd hate to be so anal, but here's a Wikipedia article for canal. It is pronounced like that, right?

A man made channel that is just for show. It rarely has water in it. And in real life I've heard that people sometimes put a boat in it and sail down it like with a Canoes. xD Which is funny since you can walk in that water. The water in it self is basically sewage...
