I just wonder why the hell does so many people get surpriced that GTAV will come for PC when they see some webstore that have GTAV for PC

Isn't it kinda obvious that it will release for PC?

Sorry for stupid ? but im just curious!

Red Dead never did so people are always going to be hesitant in believing things like website listings until it's confirmed.

Most of the PC gamers are too busy drowning in self-pity to know that every sign points to a PC version. GTAV will not be the outlier in the PC version trend - it'll just come a little later.

Some people are still going to buy it for the console first then the PC

Smart move made by Rockstar

No reason to believe so. The Red Dead series has always been console-exclusive. GTA, meanwhile, has always had PC releases. In fact, it did start out as a PC-centered game.

Comparing Red Dead to GTA with the PC Platform involved is rather irrelevant.

Red Dead is a console exclusive franchise while GTA has almost always been on PC.

I could use the same logic against you.

Max Payne 3 came to PC so what makes you think GTA V will not?

That's true. I based it more on the similarities with the production, though. Same kind of budget and development team size/development time. Either way I wouldn't be surprised. Personally I hope it's on pc as well.

It's not obvious, just like IV this is a 50/50 chance.

If Red Dead Redemption would have been ported to PC already then the possibility for V being ported would have been higher than it is now.

Because it hasn't been officially confirmed (to my knowledge), so there's no release date set. No reason for stores to be listing it.

I'm not sure why people are constantly comparing RDR to GTA with the PC platform involved.

How does a random website saying "PRE-ORDER GTA V FOR PC" confirm that there is a pc version? suicidal.gif

What surprices me is that you honestly think Rockstar would tell a handful of retailers that there will be a pc version and tell others the exact opposite, thats what really surprices me.

It was their last game of a large scale. Both took roughly the same time to finish production and both had a similar massive budget. I wouldn't go as far as saying Red Dead is console exclusive just yet considering they've had 2 games, the latter being only a spiritual successor at that. So it's safe to be hesitant as I said before rather than considering it a done deal, given the evidence.

So you're saying that RD is not a console exclusive franchise when none of the games have been released on PC?

Technically they are but it isn't saying as much as saying the same for a series with more than one sequel. Considering the run of this franchise I agree with you, chances are it'll hit pc as well. But given Rockstar's recent history I'm leaving room for doubt.

Also, R* San Diego has stopped making PC games, some Midnight Club games were on PC whereas the latter game didn't make it to PC.

I think S1LV3R_W0LF has provided the best evidence with this picture.

Store Picture

I love how people say they don't know then try and give odds of 50/50 anyway lol. RDR was a technical mess, it's been mentioned numerous times on here it really struggled during production..but meh, I don't have the energy to go through all that right now.

BUT THE BENZ

Red Dead never did so people are always going to be hesitant in believing things like website listings until it's confirmed.

No reason to believe so. The Red Dead series has always been console-exclusive. GTA, meanwhile, has always had PC releases. In fact, it did start out as a PC-centered game.

RDR being a console exclusive is an excuse. You can go further and see/say almost if not all games made by R* San Diego never made it to PC tut that ain't the reason for the missing PC version of RDR either. It's more about manpower, money and time and money and how time is money etc...and business is business etc.

Think of Max Payne 3. That game was in the making for quite a bit. More than 3 years for sure. Certainly it was in development already when RDR was released. Now there is a team already dedicated to a big project, MP3, and suddenly the "whole" world wants to see the PC version of RDR. A PC port maybe wasn't planned exactly, but nevertheless neither ruled out from the beginning I guess. R* knows that what they created is the sh*t and every platform should be able to play it. But then again they also said something like 'if there's a profitable market we could develop for that' or something so the business part is there aswell...it's part of the business I guess. I'm drifting away. What I'm trying to say:

There were/are other R* games in the making when RDR released. There was a decision made to not do a PC port for many reasons but not because it's a console exclusive. That's an excuse but not a reason. They had men dedicated to other projects (MP3, V etc..) and RDR sold incredibly well just on the consoles. Maybe that 1 billion bucks they would have earned from a RDR PC port wasn't worth it? Maybe they decided to just not do it, knowing they'd leave a lot people hang out to dry, but with knowledge in mind that the next game especially for PC, will be very pleasant to the customers aswell. I mean, who walks away from a billion dollars or something like that? Yeah the RDR code was maybe difficult to port and yes maybe that particular branch never developed games with PC in mind or whatever, but when you see the demand and possible gain in this then it's hard to believe that RDR didn't release to PC just because of that. Superior motives there. Max Payne 3 and V....and seriously, I was mad (as hell) with R* back then for not bringin RDR to PC....believe me. I was very doubtful to say the least about Max Payne 3 and the PC version etc...but then I played the game and all was forgiven almost instantly. MP3 has basically RDR's shooting mechanics combined with the max payne shootdodge bloodshed. It was/is a win/win and just big time epic. It srsly eased the pain of knowing I won't be able to play RDR on PC ever, because now I can just dualwield revolvers in bullet time with Max, and it's awesome.

That's what I mentioned earlier up there. R* knew people wanted RDR on PC but they knew they had Max already on the schedule and that the shooting aspect to the game would be very similar due to R.A.G.E. and that a bullet time feature would be included aswell. So knowing they're not gonna port RDR to PC, they also knew MP3 would be coming later and that it would bring the right gunplay aswell. At that time they had to make a decision, they had to set priorities and a RDR PC port wasn't high on the list. As I said they could have made a billion or so with a port selling like 2 million copies at 50 bucks, or let's say just 1 million copies so a gain of 50 million bucks. I don't know how much money and time would have been spent on manpower though, and they were busy with other games anyway, but walking away from that kind of money couldn't have been an easy decision and just made like ..."yeah wel it's a console exclusive anyway..."

and with all that in mind, besides the "trend" of GTA releasing late for PC, I'm not yet fully convinced V will be released to PC. Why? Because R* didn't say so. And believe me it pains me to say that. My heart is already scarred from the missing RDR port and was stitched up with MP3. No V on PC would break my heart for good, my achy breaky heart.

I just don't think it'd understand. So fingers crossed* for V on PC....every day....every goddamn day....

I figured English isn't his first language and let it be. Seemed to be brought up a lot though, haha. But yeah, it's funny you mention MP3 in relation to Red Dead. I was playing MP3 just recently for countless hours and went back to Red Dead and was so much better at it. Was like everything was moving slower after playing MP which is a lot more fast paced. If the fluidity in the control is anything in V as it is in MP3 I'll be more than happy.

It would be great for PC only gamers if it comes soon after the console versions, but you never know. Personally i think it will definitely come to PC. Lets not forget how much bigger GTA is in comparison to RDR, in popularity terms that is. But if not, so be it.Means Rockstar can start working on their next big project.

You used the wrong term, it's not surprise the people that say they don't believe it are most likely WISHING it doesn't come, so that they don't feel that they're playing something inferior.

I say this because after a long time writing and scavenging forums I noticed that most of the times who say that are console players that wish it doesn't come out and of course they use the RDR argument without anything else and not knowing why, forgetting that recently other games came out from Rockstar and got a special treatment for the first time in the PC platform. So ya they can wish much as they won't but that won't happen and it will happen faster then they expect.
