True however it's speculation based on fact. Red Dead Redemption, L.A Noire and Max Payne 3 all did what GTA V is doing. Naturally people are free to believe what they wish.

I'm aware of that but my point is everyone has a opinion. Are forums not there to voice said opinions? For the record I've no issue with how R* are doing these special editions and the like as I know I'll get the in-game items without buying these editions. It's no big deal to me.

I never said they would be and this furthers my point. People buy these editions for the swag nothing more as the in game items no doubt will be avaible to everyone further down the line.

Rockstar is a BUSINESS, the fact is rockstar has been working on this game for probably around 5 years in game development, they are giving us the things to do in san andreas in hd plus a hell of a lot more including multiple protagonists, heists, customization, and what i expect to be an amazing multiplayer experience. the fact is you do not have to buy the collectors or special edition, a base 2013 challenger is about 25k, a srt8(the fastest model) is about 43k i don't see anyone bitching to dodge about this. Rockstar must have spend a f*ck ton on this game and i am pretty sure i read somewhere the episodes from liberty city didn't do too great so they have to make up for that too. you are all acting like children, this is the real world people, i know some of the people on this forum are barely double digits and they expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter but that's not how the real world works. Nobodies putting a gun to your head and telling you to buy them if you want them buy them, and fyi the special edition is giving you most of the content at a decent price, collectors is obviously for the hardcore fan that wants to help rockstar out and cares enough to buy it.

 

you're all acting like you have a friend that is a mechanic and you're pissed that he won't give you a great deal and make you pay what everybody else does. call of duty probably doesn't have 1/10 of the content and honestly the base game is probably worth at least $150 when you think about how much you play it, how much fun it is, all there is to do, etc.

Wow I got to say first you compare this games price to a car Then you say everyone who doesn't throw blindly money to rockstar is a crybaby. Seriously I like all the R*'s games they've made. And I'm happily buying the game that costs 80 euros no problem. But that I should pay 150euros (now even more because I didn't blindly throw money at them) is ridicilous. I mean atleast R* could release the digital content as a day one DLC type of thing. You do realize that not everyone has 150e or more to spend on one game. For example being totally honest can you say the money you spend on gta v CE was your own money that you earned or just some "birth day cash" or your parents bought it ? I for one don't have that kind of money to dish out. Food rent and all that are expensive enough as it is. The Collectors Edition is very expensive. There's really not much in it that warrants such a high price. The hat isn't much use. If I wore that out I'd look like a twat and get mocked by people. I'm just going with the regular edition.

What I think many of you have not considered is the in game content. I fully applaud the extra stuff, like the cap and bag (the bag sounds cool, but i don't care about either). The in game content - the vehicles for example, is what people are sore about. This is Grand Theft Auto - AUTO. Meaning cars. People want that content. Regardless of anyone's opinions whether it's additional or cut content, the fact is Rockstar are holding this content back ONLY for those who will pay THREE TIMES the amount of the standard game. THAT is what the problem is - not rockstar being a business or trying to make extra money, but the fact they're effectively holding parts of the game hostage.

 

The blimp is a preorder "incentive" which i am firmly against. However, who here won't preorder gta? It's the way the market is, and we can not change that, but it doesnt mean we have to roll over and like it. Some of us don't, the rockstar worshipers need to pull their head out of their own asses and realize that, just as the bashers need to realise the game will still be good and rockstar are indeed a business in a recession time. The EFLC XBOX exclusive is an example; if microsoft offered YOU fifty million in return for not letting anyone else play the game, you would ALL take it. I would.

 

But it's my opinion that rockstar have caved to money and not considered their fanbase. They shafted us before, remember? Hot coffee ("It's the fan's fault. Nothing to do with us. A fan made it." - no, a fan unlocked it). Holding in game content back to sell (precisely what they're doing) is nothing short of extortion. We would not accept it with anything else. Films, TV shows, Music, groceries.

 

Would you buy a film when the "special" doubley expensive version has ten extra scenes in it? Imagine scarface without "Say good night to the bad guy" or "Say hello to my little friend". Sure the film would still be good, but it'd be missing something cool.

Say you buy a song. It's 3 minutes long. Say Down with the sickness by disturbed. You listen to it. Cool. Then you hear the "special" version - with the bridge in. Wow that wasn't in the original. That sucks.

Say you buy a pizza. Cool. You put it in the over. Oh sh*t, no pepperoni on it. It's just a cheese one. Oh well it'll still be nice, but where's the meat?!

 

THAT is what people are annoyed about, and people here i see talk of maturity, but i see little maturity coming from here. Instead people's opinions equal fact. No one can consider others - possibly because most are having the game bought for them, not paying for it for themselves. When you have little spare money, and have to save for such things, because of bills food etc, then attitudes will often change. It IS a shafting to the fans. It is a shameless money grab, with rockstar saying "we don't care about our pride anymore, just give us more money." and most will bow down and obey.

 

Sure if you like the £120 collectors edition, with a cheap hat and a (i'll admit) cool looking bag, and 2 in game cars, go for it. If you've got that much disposable income, great. Most don't however, so when they vent their frustration and disappointment for not being happy with such a move, instead of showing your true colours as a spoiled twelve year old brat who gets what they want from mummy and daddy, instead show some consideration, step in their shoes, and show some god damn respect.

 

I remember when these forums were like that. Before trolling, before haters. A community that rallied together to help eachother out, and to have mature discussions. Instead this place has become a bloody primary school, with kids who haven't even got their first pubic hairs yet whining about how their opinion is not the common consensus, because the have no concept of the world outside of their heads. I lament the downhill direction this has gone in, and realise that such days are long gone.

 

None of this is "additional content." We've seen screenshots already, so it's in the game. It's merely held back for the select few that are foolish enough to throw a stupid amount of money at it. Enjoy the 2 cars, I won't pay that ammount and you know what I'll do with the money? I'll go out for a steak, treat the girlfriend to dinner, rent a movie, get a blowjob in return, then buy a pair of goalkeeper gloves maybe or maybe another game.

 

 

Ironically, you all slate Saints Row 3, COD, Assassins Creed etc for it's extortionate DLC, yet when the same thing happens with LA Noire, Max Payne, GTA V, you ignore it.

I think your comparisons are way off. If everyone would apply your reasoning there would be no special editions ever. When I buy a special edition of a movie I get some deleted scenes, some commentary, maybe a nice figurine, some artwork and what not. If I buy a pizza I can either choose from the simplest option with only cheese and tomato or I can go balls out and order with kebab, sauce, onions, mozzarella and what not. If you want the cheapest option buy it. However, if you want the nice option prepare to pay the price. I could flip the coin and say that all of you people who do nothing but whine about the content you think you are in some way entitled to are nothing but cheapskates who do not know how things work in the real world. You are telling everyone how childish they are and then act in the same way yourself.

 

And one last thing, who says that you can´t both treat your girlfriend and buy the most expensive edition of GTA V? I am a student for f*ck sake, I live on the tighest budget there is in my country and I can still afford both. I think you need to make up a budget.
