poncratias
So i read in one of those previews that there are X's or crosses on your cursor when you hit someone. this would really bugger me. I don't want to magically know when somebody is hit! either i see it visually or i just can't be sure. like in reality! This is something i never understood why some games have this. btw.: does anyone remember reading that, too? because i can't find it, and right now there are a lot of previews out there... freedomworks96

KingJames37
MP3 has it... and I really like it, I don't think it negatively effects the game play at all.
d3ex2
You obviously haven't played Max Payne 3. It's in that and I like it. Much better than the stupid system IV had. Rockstar don't need to copy COD.
Don_Corleone
red x appears to indicate that your target is dead, not when you hit
Quackerz Gamerz
I really want them in. In IV, I swear the amount of times I thought I'd killed someone only to find out after they had got back up and killed me...
Cyfa
It's when someone dies. Exactly how it is in Max Payne 3.
d3ex2
I haven't played COD in years but doesn't it flash X's when you hit them? GTA V will only flash a small X for a split second when the target is DEAD.
StepY0gameUP
You see the X when the person is dead not when a bullet lands. It will be like in max Payne. A dot until death follow by x.
AllThatJuice
The X appears when you kill them, not when you hit them...So the X isnt a hit marker, rather a kill confirmation

MagzGTA
It's like Max Payne, a little hitmarker indicator pops up to show they're dead. I actually like it and think it works.
Grand Theft Savage
I don't think so. Leave that for Call of Duty.
Murad96
What X? I watched that Max Payne 3 video and there's no X. What's everyone saying? Oh now I see it that tiny X. Why is it white?
Mr Rabbit
nevermind I misread the post hit markers are not bad at all, they let you know when you hit someone, which given the state of some servers cannot be determined by the logic of you shooting when you were aiming right at the f*cker you are shooting. Mokrie Dela
Would this not be disable-able in the menus like most reticle options? The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. Click here to view my Poetry
stranger44
This is interesting. I don't have a problem with hit-markers at all but they have posed problems in other games. For example, some games allow the use of smoke grenades but don't program the hit-markers to not work through smoke, meaning you can tell if you're aiming at or have hit somebody through a wall of smoke, which is of course stupid. MaxPayne47
Not to worry! The hitmarkers that will most likely appear in GTA V are going to work similarly to Max Payne 3, they only show up for a split second as an indication that you've killed an enemy. Unlike CoD where you'll see a hitmarker for every bullet you put into someone
B_E_N_1992
you can probably change the aim reticle etc. like in IV/MP3.. so if you only want a white dot & nothing else then you can choose that

BUT THE BENZ
The X appears when you kill them, not when you hit them...So the X isnt a hit marker, rather a kill confirmation ^this. And it's awesome in Max Payne 3.
GR7
It only happens when they are dead, helps allot in MP3 because once you see that X you can move on to another enemy
Triple Vacuum Seal
1. That is not how the feature works. The "X" appears when you kill someone, not hit them. 2. Just because a feature is in COD doesn't automatically taint it as a "stupid feature". 3. This feature is actually more realistic, because from the shooter's perspective, you can visualize a person becomes non-responsive. While from a gamer's perspective, you are simply too removed from the experience to notice even at short distances. LennonNL
It's when someone dies. Exactly how it is in Max Payne 3. How did you do it so it starts at a certain time when you click on the link?! -- Hit markers are great, and would only work with an advanced shooting system - i.e GTA V's! matt_be
I think it is more like Max Payne 3, where the "X" pops up as the target instead of the circle when you kill the enemy. Hope this helped! EDIT: Already been mentioned, hence the addition of the spoiler tag, to hide my reply. Edited May 28, 2013 by matt_be
shifty66
Just got max payne 3 last night....( i know ) and the x markers work for it. But there is an option to turn it off if i recall correctly? So im sure that option will be in GTA5?
Bantri
I actually like hitmarkers. I think they're satisfying. I agree, it's very satisfying. I like it, and it won't be huge either, just a small x. If it's like Max Payne was, it will work very well.
