Liudeius Posted May 28, 2013 Share Posted May 28, 2013 I would just like to put a big f*ck YOU out to the makers of the GTA podcast, I don't care if I'm banned. Complaining about the collector's edition DLC is not "bitching and moaning" it is a legitimate complaint. You can argue that there is nothing wrong with having to pay $90 extra for what may or may not be exclusive DLC vehicles, or an extra $20 for the clearly cut content of stunt challenges, or that anyone who doesn't preorder and actually waits LIKE A RESPONSIBLE CONSUMER to find out if after release impressions of the game are good won't be able to fly the blimp (which has been advertised significantly in the game in every screenshot, even if we didn't know whether or not anyone could fly it). But that doesn't change the fact that anything cutting content from the game and marking it up absurdly as DLC MUST BE STOPPED. There is a difference between "paying for what you get" and having to pay an extra $20 for an hour of content. If R* were charging $80 for the game, it would be different, they are charging more for the full experience, but instead they are cutting content from the full experience, and marking it up to an absurd price. R* has been one of the slowest developers to head down the path of consumer-exploitation, but just because they have been the slowest and are a good developer does not mean they are exempt. Just because other developers are worse does not mean it is acceptable. Just because someone else steals $1000 does not make it right for you to steal $100. It's thanks to people like the producers of the GTA podcast that things like Metro: LL's real game difficulty being DLC will soon be common place. It's thanks to people like the producers of the GTA podcast that Xbox One's one player per game internet-requiring system will soon be the norm. It's thanks to people like the producers of the GTA podcast that invasive DRM like Origin that even admits in its ToS to be spyware and always on DRM is more and more prevalent. It does not matter if a single cut challenge and a few cut vehicles are only a minor infraction, if you allow minor infractions, they will slowly grow larger and larger. That's how all this anti-consumer stuff started in the first place, you accepted a tiny infraction, it became an every day occurence, then the worse infraction's didn't seem as bad anymore. I've done my part to stop this, I don't buy games with awful DRM, if I buy a game with DRM at all, and I only buy DLC as part of a complete edition. However, thanks to people like the producers of the GTA podcast, My only choice will soon be to pirate cracks of games I bought for $60 + $20 real difficulty + $30 complete ending if I don't want to have to download the publisher's Tojan onto my computer and maintain a constant internet connection. f*ck YOU GTA PODCAST Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I already planned on shelling out as much money as possible on it regardless, and I'm not going to make myself suffer by not getting the content to try and prove a point to Rockstar. Yes, when I am told that I do not have the right to even discuss something, when I am told my argument is nothing but "bitching and moaning" by someone who (I at least presume) is a leading voice in the community (and should know better), I am mad. Although I may agree with some of what you said, I have been waiting 5 f*cking years for this game. I already planned on shelling out as much money as possible on it regardless, and I'm not going to make myself suffer by not getting the content to try and prove a point to Rockstar. I understand, if I weren't a PC gamer, I would be on the fence about not buying it to prove a point, but my complaint is more with the fact that everyone is just accepting it, or even excited. Being a dissenter is apparently "bitching and moaning" rather than lamenting a final paragon of excellence turning to the dark side. (Yeah, I've heard the claim they did similar stuff with Max Payne, I have to admit I ignored that game after I heard opinions of it were mixed and it was only a few hours long.) Nemesis2252 Posted May 28, 2013 Share Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) I agree with him in many regards. seems like a few people, myself included, agree with the OP. me personally, think collectors editions should be limited to all the behind the scenes type of deal and physical items. in no way shape or form should one player have bonuses in game for shelling out extra cash. i dont care about any of the behind the scenes/physical items that come in either edition, i just want the in game content so i get the ''full'' GTA5 experience so to speak. but in order to get that full experience, i have to shell out $90 for the collectors edition? yeah MAYBE the digital content will be released on XBL or PSN, but 1) it may not ever come out at all and 2) even if it does, it would be months and months, maybe even past a year down the road when storymode will be mostly over and done with and we'll (mostly) be playing multiplayer. to have any amount of the game, wether its changing the color of a gun, exclusive weapons/vehicles, extra missions, etc. ''cut'' from the game and be exclusive to the collectors edition is bullsh*t. as for the podcast, i also was a little suprised that the ''voice of the community'' (so to speak) laughed at a good portion of the community for having their own opinions. some peopleare avid collectors and are willing to write a blank check for extra crap, but others just want the game itself, in full, with nothing ''cut'' from it. comparing it to other games release doesnt make the other argument worthless. yeah its nothing new to add content in special/collectors edition.... it doesnt make it any less bullsh*t in a lot of peoples eyes Edited May 28, 2013 by Nemesis2252 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
