When I read the CVG preview, during the Blitz Play shoot out the cops were using hand gestures and trying to flank Michael and Franklin. They were also communicating saying where the trio where most exposed.

Yea sounds and looks from the screens that the police AI is goning to be majorly better!

 

 

 

The chasing AI was put in by chance, I remember Houser saying that they were playing with the Police AI and all of a sudden the police went mental and were running peds over and getting into pile ups and they liked that, and its been like that since GTA III.

 

But, they practically do everything you have put, so the police AI to me is perfectly fine

Not exactly as some pther posters pointed out. They dont shoor from their car which is more realistic. However in some screens I see cops hanging from the steps of patriots so maybe these guys will do the shooting. The current AI is far from perfect.

 

 

Remember evading and fighting police is where a major percentage of the enjoyment comes from. If its not fun then the game is kinda boring.

Police should indeed use tactics, but that is two sided: The player should be able to use tactics against them too. Things like breaking line of sight and doubling back to flank them, laying traps or switching outfits/cars in an alley then walking away. As long as it's not one sided.

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

Good thing now is stealth helps evading cops. The police will now use a line of sight to see where you are. Break it they will come looking for in alleyways and sh*t. The police chopper will follow you around so blow it up before you escape.

 

IMO the police will play a major role cuz they ain't exactly going to be blind during major heists.

I think the AI in IV was prettyy good when you compare it to most games. The cops flank you or drop in from above making it harder for you to hold out forever. The only thing which annoys me about it, is the way they spawn out of nowhere, and the way it's practically impossible to hide from them. Apparently they have addressed the latter in V. so that will be cool. imagine being able to stealth your way out of the wanted radius.

 

I'd also like a bit more realism in how the cops respond to your crimes. the witness system from RDR was pretty good, and i hope they have that in IV.

 

Also they need to spawn much further away from your location, so you can hear the sirens from far away like in real life, also they need to come in waves, not just spawn the odd car next to you when they feel like it.

 

I would love it if they would set up more roadblocks with stinger strips, and if they would set up marksmen in adjacent buildings if you hangg around in there for too long. This would place mor emphasis on escape. The longer you hang around in a certain location, the more cops that will show up, and the more time they have to get riot police and tear gas and snipers etc

I still find myself having to go to the police when I have a star or 2, so I can go kill them cuz they can't even make a u turn sometimes
