PS2 Upscaling Option on PS3 version

I recently bought SA from the PSN store for my PS3. When I first loaded it up I was stunned by how blurry the graphics looked.. it was almost unplayable! Then I turned off the PS2 upscaling option on the PS3 and the graphics looked much sharper. WTF? I thought the upscaling option was supposed to make the graphics sharper or better? Is there a setting I am missing?

Remember San Andreas is an old game the graphics are old and the PSN version is not HD

The crapy look it's because your screen must be HD. There are some ways to improve a little bit but not to make it like a PS3 Game.

Just compare the PS2 games were made for a resolution of 720x576 or 720x480. Full HD is 1980x720 it's basically 4 times better.

My advice buy an old TV just to play PS2 games or get a capture device and play it through the computer on a windowed software, only then you will get a "better resolution".

Some of the new TV's have settings for VCR and Game consoles (at least mine does). So setting the TV might be an answer.

is the resolution set to a colour pallet of 32, some times it chages to 16?

Considering the PS3 version is just a porting of the PS2 version, it doesn't make sense for the wretched quality.

Thanks for the help everyone, Rockstar's website says

"For a PS2 classic on PS3, try experimenting with different output resolutions and settings to optimize the display for your particular TV:"

So I'll try some more tweaking of the settings.
