I've got a theory as to why that's so: He isn't their real dad. Think about it, neither Jimmy nor Tracy have any facial features similar to Michael, so either Amanda already had Tracy & Jimmy by the time she met Michael, or Michael and Amanda adopted them from a Southeast Asian country to become the talk of the neighborhood. Good point. You'd expect some dude who lets his adult son and (assuming) adult daughter live with him to be on good terms with their father. All Jimmy does is smoke weed and play video-games which Michael isn't interested in. I'm sure the mission in which Jimmy says "Why do I have to hold your hand through all this mid-life crisis bullsh*t?" is where his therapist or wife tells him to hang out with Jimmy more to understand him and connect with him so he takes his bikes for a ride to Vespucci Beach and race each other back. With Tracey on the other hand, all she does, it seems, is spend her Father's money through partying and spending time with her friends so she doesn't see Michael that often apart from when she is playing some Just Dance game and pokes fun at Michael's weight. I'd expect a storyline where Mike is just sick of his family and realizes he actually hates them so much it drives him back to crime. That'll happen way before anything as cheesy as family ties.. games in general don't do drama well, so that will always be cheesy. I think the family issues are gonna be purely for comedic effect.
