I finally finished King's Fall on NM for the first time. At 308 light :p worked my way to HM levels without so much as touching the raid. I have Iron Banner and SRL to thank for that. Xur too for 3oC and the exotic engram drops.

Screw Iron Banner.. lmao, I've played so much Trials and Skirmish that I forgot how insane a 6v6 game felt like. I want the helmets really bad, but with how screwed up Crucible is right now in regards to the current weapon preferences (Milti-Tool, Last Word, and Snipers ftw right now, fusion rifles and everything else go die), I don't know if I want to play IB this time around. I have a Multi-Tool and I use it every now and then, but I'm more of a legendary hand cannon person with my main gun being the Eyasluna in Trials, and it's just not fair to people that former hand cannon users had to change their play style to cater towards a weapon patch that, several months ago, decimated hand cannons altogether. I can adapt to these changes since I use every weapon class in crucible, but I'd rather use what I want instead of following the crucible crowd's standards.

How about those fusion rifles guys?? SO much for an "ADS accuracy increase," the damn things kick harder than Ice Breaker now.

Bungie needs to stop nerfing entire weapon classes is all I'm saying... HC's didn't deserve it, but Thorn, Hawkmoon, and TLW were too OP in Year 1. Chaperone got shafted this past update with the body shot nerf, and the part of the exotic perk that's supposed to boost precision damage doesn't even work!! I guess I need to go back to fast-shooting pulse rifles for 6v6, but the one gun that matches that category is the Grasp of Malok (knockoff Oversoul Edict), but only Omnigul knows when that gun is ever going to drop. ._.

I really should have practiced some Crucible (or even strikes/patrol) days in advance before Iron Banner.. I haven't touched this game since before the Raid Challenges were released and I'm EXTREMELY rusty.

Not to mention it would have given me time to practice with some of the weapons, considering they nerfed plenty of them; don't get me started on the fusion rifles, I used it once in a match and my aim went from the dude's feet to the roof of the building... pretty f*cking ridiculous.

Played 5 matches, lost 3 of them and 2 of them I was kicked from due to server issues (my fault for booting up IB minutes after it went live). Not sure if I have the motivation to even try it anymore.

My motivation is to complete my Iron Companion sets. Just need boots and helmets for my Titan and Warlock, and the boots (and that ugly class item) for my Hunter.

I take back what I said about Iron Banner.. Eyasluna is my baby right now! There's a whole mess of Multi-Tools and Last Words though (which I still feel is way too strong for how fast it shoots), but other than that, hand cannons are pretty impressive. The hunter helmet is amazing. <3

Golgoroth challenge is still a pain, but mehh, finally got my Hunter to 319. So close. D:

Completed my Iron Companion sets at the last minute, and have the Iron Marathon bounties still on my Hunter and Warlock. That will jumpstart me next time lol

Finished at an even rank 0 with 0% after doing 7 matches total :).

Even decided to just wait until yesterday to do a marathon of IB taking advantage of the boosts... and of course PSN goes down for the entire day, IB wasn't extended or anything either. There's always next time!

My eyes may or may not have been twitching writing that second line.

Just a heads up to play between January 7th to later tonight, any activity at all and you'll receive an exclusive emblem sometime later in the week.

Looks like there's actually a content update for this long-dormant game coming April 12. Some info I got from the twitch (it's still fuzzy right now, I'll update when I learn more):

  • 335 Light Level.
  • Old strikes, like Archon Priest, are back in rotation, and even the bosses can be Taken now.
  • New strike and quests.
  • Prison of Elders is relevant again, with 8 new bosses.
  • PoE has bounties, and a passage-like bounty like Trials of Osiris.
  • This ticket tracks your high score in a single run (30,000 for this challenge) and your accumulative for the week (90,000 total).
  • Finishing each of those challenges guarantees a 335 drop.
  • New gear, shaders, weapons, etc. (more info about that next week).

Dat Titan tho! :OHzHdOQ7.jpg

Bumping this up for tomorrow, finally a reason to turn my PS4 on again; and hopefully a reason for my old friends to get together again. None of us have touched Destiny since late October and then again for a couple of days when the SRL event was out.

And I'm not gonna lie, a couple of the new emotes actually look fun....to use...plus judging by the trailer released today you can actually get the taken emote for free once you collect every single part of the taken gear.

everything looks good for tomorrow. It'll be a nice refreshment. I've gotten so bored of my current games I went back to Minecraft and decided to clear the ocean around a water temple :p

Yeah, it's going to be nice to have an incentive to play again. I was on the same boat Maxxi, burned through this, Fallout 4, and every game I own that I ended up buying Forza Horizon 2 to fill in that driving void that GTA couldn't. Other than that, I'm wondering what's going to be the new go-to gun in the Crucible.. might be Suros Regime and that Omolon fusion rifle. Let's just hope the Crucible nerfs didn't hurt PvE too much. :(

Guys, help me understand something.

I got Destiny last week - the vanilla version, almost for free, figuring I can get the Legendary ver if I like it enough.

I don't care for PvP, so I just went for do the campaign, sometimes in coop if there were people around.

Turns out it's just 4 moderately large maps and the whole thing is like 10-15 hours long (and I tend to take my time). I got to the ending cinematic when I was level 16 or so I think. Then the strikes/raid for a few more hours/levels of the same stuff and... That's it?

I know some people found Destiny lacking and the mission packs provide more content, but is this really all this game had originally or did I encounter some bug that only shows me the blandest third of the game?

I'm not trolling or flaming. I just haven't paid much attention to this game before so I'm really not sure here. I get it people play for pvp and loot, I just still expected more despite the negative hype.

Edit: eeh okay, I just watched Angry Joe's review from the release... So that explains it.

Sir Michael

The story is really shallow, it was one of the biggest problems with Destiny when it came out. Unfortunately, all of the meaty stuff comes when you hit higher levels. The raids and the PvP is where the game really shines, but you need to use third-party websites in order to find people to join you for raids since there isn't matchmaking. Even then, like you said, you're doing the same stuff over and over again just to level up... It's a really repetitive grind that's only satisfying with friends, something like Division if you played that game.

Since you have vanilla Destiny, you're shut out of almost every endgame activity that isn't Vault of Glass, and the Crucible is going to be drastically limited since you can't play the other modes because "Taken King is required." Right now, your version of Destiny is an empty shell of what it is now with Taken King since the real meaty content is money-locked to you.

Gotcha. Yea, the moment to moment game is quite fun and I'll still play it some more for my sci-fi fix, but still, it feels like the game has less content than Warframe had back when it was in closed beta. And that one is an indie F2P game and randomized to boot, so it's not as repetitive. Not worth 30 € for the legendary edition. Maybe after 10 more mission packs.

Hey everyone I'm sure there is still a few destiny players on here so got a few questions.

Haven't played since August last year and I've just bought the game again including TTK, has much changed?

I'm level 34 how hard is it to reach 40?

Are all my old weapons pretty much redundant now?

weapons like

Thorn

Last word

Truth

Dragons breath

Icebreaker

Thanks

Sir Michael

Level 40 is easy to reach, ranking up your light level is going to be a bit slow at first.

As far as Year 1 weapons go, the short answer is yes. Everything you own from Year 1 is useless for the new strikes and end-game activities. Sorry, there's no way to boost them up to the current 335 Light max unless you get the Year 2 version of an exotic.

I'm assuming you want PvP, because Thorn. The First Curse or The Last Word seem to be the shining hand cannons of PvP right now, but if you cannot get either of those look out for good Eyesluna rolls (crucible drop), or do weapon testing for the Gunsmith to try and get a good roll/package for the Omolon hand cannons, the Uffern or the Kumahatok (however the f*ck that is spelt). At rank 3 with the Gunsmith Hunters get a quest to get the Ace of Spades, which is an incredibly good hand cannon with Firefly. Also, if you are fond of Fatebringer, the Undying Mind (and Restorative Mind on PS4) strike(s) have a chance to drop the Imago Loop, which has a chance (albeit slight) to roll with the same roll as Fatebringer itself, and even shares the gun's base design.

Anyone looking forward to the rise of iron reveal on Thursday ?

I wish I was, the last update didn't do much for me except having me log in for about an hour total. I just don't see the fun in the game anymore; at least not without my old crew who have moved onto other things.

If this next update does end up looking better than the previous one, I hope it encourages my old friends to come back; if not then I'll just have to wait for Destiny 2.

Sir Michael

Bungie accidentally leaked details about the new "Rise of Iron" expansion, which is coming out September 20.

Some small details. Source: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2016/06/08/destiny-website-confirms-rise-of-iron-for-september-20-on-xbox-one-and-ps4.aspx

EDIT: One more detail from the article, they're cutting off ties with Last-Gen.

Even more information has emerged via the Singapore version of the Xbox.com website. Rise of Iron will require both the Destiny base game and The Taken King expansions in order to play.

Further, the add-on will broaden the explorable territory on Earth in Old Russia. Players will visit a zone called The Plaguelands with Lord Saladin, the character who runs the occasional Iron Banner tournaments.

Here's the full list of items included in the Xbox.com listing:

  • New Story Campaign & Quests
  • New Armor and Gear
  • New Weapons
  • New Raid
  • Maximum Light Increase
  • New Strike
  • New Plaguelands Zone & Social Space
  • New Crucible Mode & Maps
  • New Enemy Faction and Bosses

Nerding out: Old Russia.. the only enemies there are Fallen (and Hive, but they're most likely irrelevant now that Oryx is dead), so it's safe to assume that this DLC is going to be Fallen-themed, but we'll see more details tomorrow during the Livestream. Honestly, I've always wanted a Fallen Raid ever since House of Wolves. Their bosses are pretty intimidating compared to every other faction; I had more problems with Skolas than I ever did with Crota, plus their Captain-like bosses (Skolas and Archon Priest anyway) are the only bosses in the game that actively chase us, even if they take their sweet ass time doing so.

Although I rarely play Destiny anymore, this DLC might just give me that spark to play it again. Despite all of the rebalancing with the guns in the Crucible and the rather tedious grind, this is still a really fun game to play. I just like the shooting mechanics way too much to give it up. :p
