RatedRviper
I mean, just look at shadows in GTA IV(consoles),they look blurry, pixelated and in general very bad....especially that part in front of Niko's first safehouse(under the train road) Look at these: and after you have seen these pictures, watch TRAILER 2 in 1080p on HDTV..... Difference is ENORMOUS!! You can clearly see they fixed ugly shadows from IV,they're SHARP now in every scene(just like in RDR) IV looked very nice, except for shadows.....annoyed the hell out of me!! Now when that's eventually fixed,I cannot wait for this MASTERPIECE of a game! Discuss,I want to hear your opinions. Cheers!

Ubermacht
Those screenshots look like they're taken from the PC version on very low settings. The shadows look way better than that for me on PS3 and XBOX...
EvilFuture
This just goes to show that V is a HUGE improvement from IV, although some people say it's only a minor one.
RandomNoun
IV didn't look that bad. Did it? Seriously? They've got to be altered somehow ... Surely?
RatedRviper
On mine x360 and my friend's ps3 looked exactly like these screenshots.....GTA 5 is HUUUUUGE improvement on that department GTA 5 shadows=RDR shadows

ALeSsAnDrO
IV's shadows are only acceptable on PC version, with very high settings. It's easily the best and most welcomed change in V. It needed it badly to capture the sunny LA vibe, and we're getting it.

Staten
The V screenshots are edited They're not. Anyone who has played RDR knows that RAGE can handle those types of shadows. Besides, there are screenshots that show some bad shadowing.

wwinterj
Can't really compare edited screens and trailers of GTA V with in game images of GTA IV. Once we see gameplay of V then we can make comparisons. Maybe you should compare the official screens/trailer of IV with those of V. Backfire6
lol Ya I don't see how you can Compare this early. 5 isn't even out yet. You can't compare to fives "scene" screenshots. There is no gameplay images or videos what so ever yet for 5. So it's literally impossible to compare both games. And we already know 5 will be better in this matter. MosquitoSmasher
I recently played GTA IV again, after having played RDR and MP3 for a long time, i was like..jesus christ what the hell is this. The horrible shadows but especially waterpaint effect can ruin these graphics so much. It only had me looking forward to V all the more, cause it will be on par or slightly better than RDR and that is pretty amazing. I can only laugh at sites like IGN USA that claim the game is slightly better looking than GTA IV. Yeah IGN...that makes sense, lol.

Eh...almost all of the action in the trailers IS gameplay, just not from the perspective of the player. R* has hardly ever done action inside cutscenes, in IV they were strictly reserved to talking scenes. We should assume the same thing will happen here. And just look at the pre-release trailers of GTA IV, it wasn't THAT different from the final game. The people jumping on the "everything is photoshopped" bandwagon are really silly. CTCCoco
GTA IV shadows, with my i5 3550, 8 gb ram ddr3, hd 7950 3 gb gddr3 are pure sh*t with MAX settings on GTA IV. GTA IV is the worst GTA ever made in terms of graphic glitchs (flickering and grainy shadows, flickering textures, late loading props, etc). Scampi
As long as the shadows are improved from MP3 then it's fine. RDR had good shadows but in MP3 they looked like stacked Lego blocks zig-zagging across Max's face. Truly awful to look at. I'd like to say it's just my PS3 being old, but I don't think age affects only shadows. Everything else looked fine, but damn I couldn't get passed that. So far in the trailers they look very good, but I'm not at all convinced that's how it'll be during actual play, so we'll see.
