DlZZEE
I kinda suspect they will manage to fit all in one disc. Absolute don't see a disc switching in an open world game. Any examples? Maybe the x360 version will be dimished a bit so that's why they showed a PS3 version during presentation. Edited May 27, 2013 by DizzeeXL

If GTA IV had about 6.4 or so and with hardly any features and a long story you don't think V will be on 2?

Admittedly L.A Noire is unusual, that it is linear, yet open world so it fall kinda out of category. It is possible that disc swap will be required mid-game, in order to progress to the final batch of missions. But I really have no idea of how R* would pull it off. WildBrick142
Disc 1 - Single player and sh*tty Multiplayer that only wastes space Disc 2 - Single Player (Install) Disc 3 - Single Player (Install) 3 discs will be the max. I think that they will somehow fit it on one disc like SR did.

La noire was so linear, the game always told you where to go and you couldnt interact with the world except doing random cop missions. And the multiple discs served a purpose because THEY USED MOTION CAPTURE AND THAT TAKES UP ALOT OF SPACE

theworldfamous
Why assume it's multiple discs? Just Cause 2 wasn't Multiple Discs. Audio, cutscenes, animation data, unique textures and assets make all the difference. JC2 shows how big you can make it if you strip all that out.. and how boring a game you'll have left if you do. Anyway, stuff like that is easily split up across discs. I just hope it can recognize an install on Xbox so you can avoid discswapping on the go if you're not tied to an arcade system. LA Noire and Mass Effect don't at least.
Wheatley
I mentioned this in a previous thread. The PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV clocks in at about 14GB according to the PSN store; that could easily fit on one blu-ray. Checking out the size of the disc of Xbox 360 games comes in about 7.5GB-8GB. When GTA IV launched in April of 2008, Microsoft made it so any game would only be allocated around 6.8 GB on the disc. So judging solely from the 14 GB download size for GTA IV on PS3 tells us that Rockstar used an excellent compression method to store the data on the Xbox 360 disc. Nowadays, Microsoft has removed the 6.8GB limitation and boosted it to about 7.5/8GB meaning developers can now put more content in. I strongly think that Rockstar will adapt their compression methods to fit the game on one disc. Max Payne 3 was very linear meaning in game objects couldn't be repeated because it would break the immersion (if you play the game you would notice that almost 90% of the game's objects are never repeated) while LA Noire's facial capture animations took up a lot of space on the disc due to how advance they were. Unfortunately, Microsoft is very strict on Game Installations. Currently, the only two games that do this are Forza and Halo 4 both of which are Microsoft exclusives. EA circumvented this by doing the "HD Texture Patch" through means of Free DLC when downloaded from the XBox Live Store for Battlefield 3. Looking at what EA did though, this could be a possible solution to the "Multiple discs" problem. If Rockstar reduce the resolution of the models and textures, they could in theory fit it on one disc and follow through with the "free HD Texture DLC" that EA did for Battlefield 3. -Wheatley Edited May 27, 2013 by Wheatley

With L.A. Noire, the "street crimes" side missions were not accessible on all discs but were specific to each chapter. In GTA IV, many side-mission strands are unlocked by story progression, for example the high-end assassination missions come later, but it's possible to get those and still not have done Little Jacob's or Brucie's earlier side missions. Having to switch discs for these sort of things would be bad.

There's a reason why they showed a PS3 version during the demo, considering M$ likes to buy off game dev companies, Rockstar had no choice but to show a better looking version because it didn't look so appealing in the first place compared to other recently released games. Maybe I'm wrong though. Edited May 27, 2013 by DizzeeXL

Lukijs
If R* will pull of install and just play with 1disc,it will be awesome ,though I fell bad for people who actually bought arcade versions lol. I have 250GB slim and so far I have around 60GB used ,and those are just arcade games and two full on demand games. So BRING IT ON ROCKSTAR

RichyB
I hope they will be offering refunds to 4Gig xbox owners if they can't play it on their system due to Rockstar not announcing memory limitations. Redwood Cigarettes
I played PC & Xbox 360 for the most part, but I've ordered GTA IV CE for PS3 and bought a PS3 especially to play this. The disc size is really holding the Xbox back and yes the PS3 version will look better because of the amount of content that can be stored onto a blu-ray disc compared to a DVD. I don't want to start or add fire to a console war here but I'm just saying Rockstar have shown us all PS3 renders for a reason..
