73duster
There is NO doubt that people's expectations are incredibly high. In fact, some expectations are flat out RIDICULOUS. The expectations for the size of Los Santos in particular, are out of control.
DeafMetal
Are you Jimmy McMillan? But yeah, we're probably hyping ourselves too much. HOPEFULLY Rockstar impresses.
Input
I think the expectations are coming from how secretive and cryptic they are about the game. I mean, they give us little info and then we start analyzing it and creating mass assumptions that almost become facts in our minds. Just like the whole Los Santos size thing, they said it was pretty big and now its in our minds that this is going to be one massive map since they only gave us so much info on it. MosquitoSmasher
I can't speak for others but my expectations are probably pretty realistic. I just expect to see a great detailed world again. Mechanics similar to Max Payne 3 and RDR. Improvement and variety in missions, NPCs saying new things to you and what not. I'm not expecting insane graphics, if it's true that the graphics are like RDR and framerate is good too...well....that would just be the sh*t!!!! Cannot complain in any way about that. I hope the little things are still in there you know, like that you could pull up your middlefinger at folks, just want to see reactions from people. I'll keep my expectations realistic and i will wait patiently until release. Then i'll go explore the sh*t out of this one.

Durden
You know what's pretty sad? I feel as if I essentially know everything about what to expect from V's gameplay. The only re-assurance of hope I have is that statement a R* worker made after the May 2 previews, stating that the whole game has still been kept a secret. I have a hard time believing this, though, since he's obviously wrong as far as game mechanics go, as well as other aspects of V. Before all the info about V - back when we only had Trailer 1, I was extremely hyped about the game because it looked like IV and SA had a baby. Realism of IV with fun gameplay of SA. I said to myself, "even if V is just IV with a different map and some funner features, I will be satisfied". But suddenly, after all the info we have about the game, I think I've spoiled myself. Instead of being happy to see this stuff for the first time in-game, I think I will be quite unsurprised because I've known about these 'cool features' months before the release. I just hope that closer to launch, I can learn to appreciate the basic, simple things that make V extremely exciting, such as the new map and military. These small features that made me love the game so much back in 2011. Edited May 28, 2013 by gionascm2

Holy sh*t, i played that game to death but i kinda forgot about that feature. Must be getting old . As for flipping the bird...i'm a little afraid that it's been taken out. Cause even though it sounds fun as hell and i really want to use it, what purpose does it have? If it's simply in the game for the heck of it..kinda like 'hey...why not...let's have some fun with it' i'm all for it, but something tells me this one won't make it. Especially if they decided to use the required button for something else. I recall one of the d-pad buttons being the 'middlefinger' feature, right? @gionascm2 Same here man, exactly the same. We've gotten info on so many new and returning features, we know about the story, the mission structure, we know about stranger missions, random encounters etc. But there are still things we have heard nothing about. For example....Chop. I don't believe for a second he's just Franklin's dog and that's it. He serves a purpose. But what irks me is that R* has said it several times that they want to keep the element of surprise, so they will keep plenty of information back. What i wonder is...what is going to happen in this 'innovative marketing campaign' of theirs then, that is planned for around E3? Basically spill all the beans then? I dont know......just weird. I truly feel that i know a sh*tload more about this game, than i knew about GTA IV before release. Maybe i'm wrong. GlitzyTomb
How did you do that? I never realized you could deliberately do that, I thought he'd just sometimes respond on his own. Maybe you flip people off with Down on the D Pad now that it's not being used for phone
nigelhere9901
After IV I've learned to not expect too much, and expect lots of cut features. Retractable roofs are probably gone. Dynamic clothing fabric physics is definitely gone. Pedestrian activity won't be as dynamic as most people expect. The quantity of clothing, tattoo, and hair options will be very limited. And I'm sure there will be plenty of other things that will leave some people disappointed. My only expectation is that it will be better than IV. Full body cloth will be gone, yes. But the hanging cloth at the bottom will still have physics, in a jacket for instance.

Didn't previews say that the customisation would be like MCLA? And i could be wrong, but it was possible to let some cars have retractable roofs, or was it that certain cars already had that? Whatever the case, why would this have been removed? Was it ever said that the game would get Dynamic clothing fabric physics? Activity of peds was already pretty impressive in GTA IV and RDR, i expect a nice improvement over this. Not sure what other people expect. As for quantity of clothing, tattoo and hair options. Why do you think that? I'm expecting a nice selection of clothes for all three characters and at least a handful of different hairstyles and tattoos. Clothing should have a nice big selection. Each character has their own style of clothing, so that is kinda cool , but let us have a nice selection. Again, really not sure what people's expectations are. I think what i just mentioned..isn't too extreme?

Especially if they decided to use the required button for something else. They may have taken it out, or it could simply be the "negetive reply" button if they use pedestiran interaction again. The problem with too many new features is that it complicates the controls and in the end sometimes can be too burdensome. Plus the specific use of the middle finger may seem a little Saints Row-ish. Full body cloth will be gone, yes. But the hanging cloth at the bottom will still have physics, in a jacket for instance. This is what I actually like to see get dropped, take away useless things like this and give me something interesting.

While you can indeed do such things in Saints Row, i think it would bring even more humour to GTA V. I just can't wait to see how an old lady would react, or a gang member or a cop, hahaha. It's the small things in these games that i love so much.

thatstupidbug
I expect a sh*tty games. I hate half of the cast, the special abilities are stupid, the city is small, the map sucks, and all those changes are pointless (just 5 stars in wanted level, square in-game map, characters switch...) and the "6 big robbery" formula already feels stale. No, I'm not kidding... I Really don't have any hype for this game... and that's the best thing ever! Because I think that when I'll play for the first time, with no expectations wathsoever, I'll enjoy the game more (if it's good). It happens to me sometime in the past, both with "that stupid Japanese game with big robots and weird guys" (MGS, now I have the whole "solid" collection) and, on the opposite, with "the best open-world game in History" (GTA IV, and I was disappointed a lot). Sure, there will be bad things that probabily I'll never like (like the fact that, when you switch to one of the protagonists, he's doing something and he's going on with his life... it feels like I have no more control on them), but for now who cares? Let's hopw it will be sh*tty
DarkLordSmurf
My expectations for V are the same as the expectations I had for IV - a good, solid story and a game that I would play over and over again. Based on those expectations, I can safely say that V will rock my world

allftw
My expectations are always high but they ALWAYS exceed my highest expectations and then some. They blow my mind every time. Yeah seriously I have never been disappointed by a Rockstar game and my expectations have always been so high for their games, probably higher than my expectations for any other game. So I don't see why they would start to disappoint now. As long as they deliver on most of the things they mentioned it should be fine for me. There will probably be lots of unannounced features, little details that will make up for any features they cut anyway.

The expectations for the size of Los Santos in particular, are out of control. When I found out just the city part of LS was more or less the same size as LC I squealed with glee. The idea that people felt that was too small shocked the hell out of me. People are asking for the damn moon. But I think my own expectations are realistic. R* always surprises me no matter how much info leaks out. I see no reason to expect differently this time.
