zainzombie
My expectations were never too high, but with all the things they have mentioned that are in the game, it has far exceeded any expectations I had from this one. If they somehow fail to deliver all the promised features, I will be disappointed. If they are not sure of which features will make it in the final game and which ones will not, then they should be more careful with all the info they gave out in their demo and to the previewers. GTAaLEX117
The recent Russian previews were brutally honest. If your expectations are high, they won't be after reading those articles Thankfully those previews criticized things that R* confirmed to be work in progress (a.k.a. missing from the version they showed of). AuSsIeThUnDeR36
Good topic. This sort of thing brings me back to the wonderful preview of Aliens: Colonial Marines. Oh what a magnificent preview video. Then it all turned to crap when it was released. But R* is R* and they didn't make that game so I have faith and not expecting too much so when I finally get to play it I'll take it for what it's worth. LennonNL
Maybe stuff that Rockstar had hinted at or suggested pre GTA IV release were cut, but find me something that was actually in a trailer that was cut? The convertible roof being put down was actually in trailer one, so I very, very much doubt it'll be cut. But yeah, all I'm hoping for is slightly better graphics, driving, shooting and movement that GTA IV, along with a big, busy map and I'll be happy! Let them have Call of Duty i bet they feel better about that game. That's unfortunate, as the Russian previews are the first ones to be objective and honest. They're not afraid to point out the bad things which is a virtue if you ask me. But don't worry they also 'reveal' a lot of good and new exciting details. In the end I rather have a realistic view of what the game is going to feel like and play like than having it appear to be awesome and turn out not so much so. And yes I will be posting it in the OP of the 'Russian Previews' thread in the news section. BeardedxMic
I hope they didn't take top dropping out. I kind of wonder how you would activate it though. You've got the top dropping and you've nitro. We already know what a number of the buttons are going to do (assuming things are the same now as they were before) so I wonder how they're going to work. We know when you press up on the crosspad, it brings up the character selector. But what of down? Down could be used to put the top down. LB will probably be the weapon wheel, so that free's X/square from weapon selection. That could be it. Or perhaps the left thumb stick will be Nitro in motion and top down when stationary? Perhaps you can't switch characters while in a car? Well, chances are that if I can think up ways this can work, the people at R* have it covered. And, to all the people who are making lists about whats gone. You really need to cut it out. You know nothing, you don't work for R* and you have no information that proves any of what your saying other than your skepticism and your fear. Two things that aren't very positive and are very rarely needed.
wwinterj
I'm just wondering what are they gonna take out. Doubtful they will take anything out from what we know and that's possibly why we know so little. My expectations are for this game to be the best GTA game to date. I don't expect it to surpass my own personal favorite that is Vice City but San Andreas to me is the game this GTA needs to beat. Others would say GTA IV. Eitherway this game seems it'll beat both of them but only time will tell. My expectations are realistic and no game is perfect.
Tupiz
Funny how IV was supposed to have countryside and whole Liberty State, but didn't.
.Emmi
The setting of the game was originally going to be Liberty State, rather than just Liberty City, and it would have included countryside surrounding Liberty City, mountains based on the Adirondacks and Catskills [14], and possibly The Caraways. The article mentioned that there were three cities. First is Liberty City, next is possibly The Caraways and the last could be Carcer City mentioned as "nearby". Imagine how much more fun it would have been, having Liberty State instead of just Liberty City. But well, I guess Rockstar haven't had much of an experience with the new consoles back then, so they decided to do sth more simple but this good! Agent00
lets not be pessimistic guys. but i do agree that if we do lower our standards we'll be more happy with the final product. but then again, I WANT THIS GAME TO BE PERFECT SO BADLY! :'(
reform
I agree completely. Just look at the amount of stuff that gets cut before release. GTA Cut Features Ok, many things listed on that page are totlly bullsh*t and were never even planned, let alone in and then cut, so don't take it too seriously. The IV list does seem accurate, though.

Backfire6
Ya R* Love getting rid of confirmed features. They've done it since the very beginning. Whats funny is they don't need to get rid of anything. From what I see the game can handle that many features really easily. I mean if the Beta can handle them why not the final release too?
Bantri
GTAV to me seems like the ultimate game to finish all games. I keep thinking that you can do anything in this game. The list of features is staggering far more than IV had. For a long time now I have that feeling and anticipation for what will be possible when playing. But I can't help but remember this is how I felt with IV. They cut out quite a lot of stuff that I expected and I was deeply saddened. -climb telephone poles -open car boots/hoods -ped's have real conversations -interiors heavily populated -you can follow ped's from their home to work Well I learnt my lesson. But people here are making the same mistake. There's no way everything we've heard is gonna end up in he final cut. Some stuff is gonna go. A lot of people here need to lower their expectations. There's no way they will all be met. I'm just wondering what are they gonna take out. It happens with every game. I have noticed, spending any time on forums will cause this. It happened to me with Saint's Row 3, and Test Drive Unlimited 2. That's why I don't believe or want to believe most the ideas people come up with saying here. If it's not in the game I won't have my hopes up, if it does end up, that's awesome. And I know it's just fun speculation, but it still is sad to find out it's not true when the game releases. LAPD 85
Well instead of expecting them to cut features, why can't we just continue to hope they don't? Because it's rather obvious that many features that are revealed in previous GTA games get cut while the features are still in the game files? Or features that get talked about in previews don't make it in? It's not like V will be any different.

S1LV3R_W0LF
Well maybe yes, maybe not. Let me explain, GTA IV got a lot of stuff taken in the lats minute, that could have been for various reasons but by the look of it I think they did it for technical reasons, for performance reasons mostly and thats why they didn't make it to the final version, the engine was brand new and they were doing the first steps on it, so that could have been the reason. Another reason could be that they first planned to make the Liberty City Estate and include all that stuff, but then they saw it would take a lot of time and development and the engine was already being developed for 3 years and millions of dollars were already spent without knowing how successful it could be so they had to release it and see what would happen and save the huge project for the next game in the series, and Los Santos would be the perfect place to do it, in other words to bring the success from SA to the new HD era in the new engine. Either that or they thought they should have kept all the "cool stuff and features" for that title. And if that is the case it was the best choice, everyone complained about GTA IV and how it was a back-step from SA and with time they could learn how to do things properly. And till now looks they've doing it right, so maybe the reasons that they cut the stuff were others or intensional.

The IV list does seem accurate, though. I agree, those lists are BS. What do I back that statement up with? Being alive at the time they were being previewed and seeing people presume certain things were in the game based on f**k all. The only things cut from IV for sure were the fingerless gloves and climbing telephone poles. Even the cut missions were just fragments of code left behind, nothing that was necessarily "cut" as much as simply not developed to completion for unknown reasons. Input
It will suck if they cut some of the really cool stuff, like the convertible roofs or being able to rob liquor stores.. Input
TBH what's so great about retractable roofs anyway? Just the fact that they including something cool and new, really. And I feel like the emphasis in both the trailer and release news, it has to be in still, but then on the other hand... The fingerless glove incident did the same.
