Apxidia
What would make paying the high pricetag for CE more easy for you? Feel free to include something digital or physical. A few ideas from me: A nice t-shirt Early game access (maybe like 3-5 days early) via an access code we can imput to download the game early. Please join in! wwinterj
I don't want in-game items in these edition because that's taking away from the game. I don't think these editions are worth it just for the swag. Hypothetically I'd like a statue of the three protagonists to justify the price tag. The_Golden_Derp
Im getting CE because I love GTA-V... I dont want their sh*tty shirts but something cool like with MP3 (Bullet trays) I need the new hat though.
The.Driver
It's already worth it, to me. Most people here need a box of Kleenex tissues with their standard version. Edited May 27, 2013 by The.Driver

Although,I do recall one member stating a while back that a statue from a CE version of another R* game had a really bad smell that made his whole room smell awful even after a year. R* would probably never do this though At $20 for each DLC, they would probably be losing out on a lot of potential revenue in the long run. Capricornus
If it came with a check for about $250,000. Also, a DLC that lets us play as Michael in his life before his kids and wife.

They even said some DLC would be free. Just because DLC exists doesnt mean youll always be paying $20 dollars or getting something stupid for that $20. Knowing Rockstar no matter the price or how much content is included the DLC will all be worth the price and priced well. I got the Collectors Edition because any other version of GTA V is for people who arent real fans of the game.

cp1dell
I don't want in-game items in these edition because that's taking away from the game. I don't think these editions are worth it just for the swag. Hypothetically I'd like a statue of the three protagonists to justify the price tag. "Wahh, you only get the "full game" if you get the SE/CE!!" It's only a few small pieces of content. I know it's a cheap thing to do, but compared to other developers it's not that bad. And the very small amount of content that is included - it doesn't really retract that much from the game. It's not that big of a deal. If Rockstar had DLC packages that included things like a whole new set of cars, weapons, clothes, or stuff like that - that would be ridiculous. TLAD and TBoGT was good DLC. It added a bunch of new stuff, and was worth being a DLC. This junk that you get with the SE/CE is perfectly tolerable, it barely adds anything to the game and just screams "optional." Now there's a medium between those two types of DLC (as mentioned before, for example - a DLC pack containing cars that should be in the game already) is bad. But the crap that you get with the SE/CE is so petty, that anyone should be able to play the game and not feel any difference between having that content and not having it. There's also the chance that the stuff might just be early access content. The whole "25% faster special ability recharge" thing that you get reminds me of a power-up that came with Uncharted 2 GOTY Edition that you could download for Multiplayer. Other players could still get the same power-up without the GOTY or DLC. Now you might say "Uouou, that's pay2win retard~~" but it was so balanced and petty, it barely made a difference. You guys are acting like they removed an entire section of the map and turned it into DLC, or removed one of the protagonists and made them a DLC - but they didn't. They are offering very small pieces of content just to promote the SE/CE. You might argue that "Ohh noo! This is just Rockstar getting ballsy! Soon they'll start to take bigger things out of their games and turn that into DLC if we let them treat us like idiots!" Well no you're f*cking wrong. They did this with Red Dead Redemption and it was the same thing. Small petty content that barely had an effect on the game. It's just basically a standard in the industry now, except Rockstar aren't being money-grubbing assholes about it. You're all making a big deal out of nothing. The people who buy the SE/CE just for the petty content are a bad example of customers, and make Rockstar look like the bad guys when they're just idiots. I didn't buy the Special Edition for a few extra pieces of clothing that look like they were a last minute thing, and don't fit in the game. I bought it because I wanted the "Special Edition," the steel case, the artwork book - all that stuff and to support Rockstar because Grand Theft Auto is my favorite franchise. Anyways, if the CE maybe had the soundtrack, or like someone mentioned, some statues - it would be worth it. But the CE is over the prices of two new games ($120) and that's insane. BlackNoise
I still don't understand why more developers haven't started offering early game access for people who pay a premium. I'm not saying I want it, but if I could play GTA V in July, I would pay $150. A few days wouldn't be worth it though. If in-game bonuses were true exclusives, I might pay more. I almost preordered the CE, but now I'm going with the SE.

"Wahh, you only get the "full game" if you get the SE/CE!!" (...) You guys are acting like they removed an entire section of the map and turned it into DLC, or removed one of the protagonists and made them a DLC - but they didn't. Spot on. Even though you have upwards of 200 vehicles to choose from, not being able to have one car and one bike has not ruined the entire GTA experience for you. Anyhoo, I'd probably got it if it contained things that I'd actually use, e.g. a small fake safe for money storage and/or a t-shirt. In game, maybe that t-shirt and maybe a little extra like access to unique dialogue, like the IWHBYD skull in Halo 3. That would be cool - and not make the SE/standard game's have a 'less fuller' experience.

I did not buy it for the physical items. Here here. I could care less about it. I mean, the blueprint is cool, and I will be using it, but I could go without it. What I want is the extra cars, and the online classic characters. And besides, as an adult who works 40+ a week, and doesn't buy himself much, this is my late birthday gift from me, to me, in celebration of me. CE is already EB/GS Exclusive. Not only that, but VERY limited numbers. My local EB is only taking 10 CE preorders for each console, all of which were filled the first day. For all my intelligence, I preordered one on each so I could cancel one when we get closer to release after console gameplay comparisons come out. I'm not part of the group that's "crying" over a few minor things not in the game. "Lost interest right there." Outstanding ignorance. "Don't like my answer?" I'm just trying to make reason here. wwinterj
I'm not part of the group that's "crying" over a few minor things not in the game. Neither am I. I understand that's how things work these days and have already stated in several topics I'll be buying the normal edition and then buying any DLC later. Outstanding ignorance.. Here is the thing. This topic wasn't made to discuss if DLC made as a incentive to buy a edition of a game is right or not. We have a lot of topics for that. That is why I choose to ignore your long ass post. OP asked what would make the CE worth it to us and I answered. You went on a long ass rant that was off topic. The following is also off topic. I'm just trying to make reason here. This whole "We're getting an incomplete game" is an idiotic statement. No matter what way you look at it content been developed along side a game as a incentive to pre order, buy the CE edition or whatever and should have been put in the original game but rather than that is used to capitalize. I'm not knocking it or even crying about it because from a business prospective it's a good idea but to me personally in a CE or the like I'd rather it not be in there and I'd rather it be in the game from the start. Having something more worthwhile in a CE would justify the price tag to me not in-game items that everyone will be able to have at some point and should be in the game anyway. I hope this has cleared a few things up for you. If you don't agree with my last statement that's fine as we will have to agree to disagree. As I said before this isn't the topic to debate over that stuff. Edited May 27, 2013 by wwinterj
TheGodDamnMaster
I was extremely disappointed with the Collector's Edition when they announced it. I loved GTA IV's; the lockbox was great (I still use it), I enjoyed the art book, and I actually used the duffel bag more frequently than I originally intended to. And it was only $90 to boot. DLC, a money bag, and a cap do not justify an extra $90. The DLC consists of a few character models for multiplayer and some exclusive cars. That probably costs $5 to create at the very most. Those caps usually average around $30. The money bag is probably about $20. It just seems like overkill. What it could have used. -An art book -A figurine or statue -A DVD movie in the vein of San Andreas' "The Introduction" or just a behind-the-scenes video -A voucher for a soundtrack download -Maybe a gas mask just for the hell of it Intel Core i9-9900k | Seasonic FOCUS Plus 750W | 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 2666MHzMSI GeForce RTX2070 | WD Blue 1TB HDD | Samsung 950 PRO M.2 512GBAntec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower | MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Pro Carbon AC
Ash_735
Well, first off, I DO think it's over priced for what it is, the GTA IV Special Edition got you more PHYSICAL items and was cheaper (and hell, I still use the Lock Box today!) I think less DLC would be a good idea and more physical extras, a soundtrack sample CD should be a must with a game like GTA, the CD you got with the GTA IV pack was a nice range of music across the stations, the art book was cool but for me the duffel bag and lock box were just genius, got the most use out of them really. I really like those additions you suggested though (as others have previously). I would have loved to see the soundtrack and/or a behind the scenes dvd included. The gas mask idea is honestly awesome lol. It wouldn't even have to be an actual scale, but rather just a model of one.
