flyboy7
A game this beautiful must have longer days and longer nights so we can admire the virtual scenery a lot longer. In past GTAs time is always 1 Real World (RW) Minutes = 1 In-Game (IG) Hours. That is a bit too short. I think that 4 RW minues = 1 IG hours would suffice. We would also benefit from an alarm clock that we can set for those time specific missions.
Hvitdverg
In GTA IV, i believe 1 minute equaled 1 hour? 24 minutes = 1 day. I think it's the best solution

A lot of games with day/night cycles have adopted the 24min=24hrs method (skyrim, fallout) that gta has created.
ultrabowser
Thanks for making this topic, it's really strange that no-one came with the idea to create one like this before. Except they did, nevertheless I LOVE to discuss this topic again for the sixth time. Will you create one again tomorrow, just for me? I think it should just be that 1 minute in RL = 1 second in GTA V. Preferably that that 1 second in-game takes 1 minute, so you can take things a bit slowly. Getting in your car would take 53 minutes for example, this way you can fully appreciate the animation, your surroundings, et cetra. Also, it REALLY extends the gameplay time, like, you can play the game until you die but you still wouldn't have completed all the missions! NICE! Calanguento
First of all, GTA IV's daycicle was 48 minutes. That's good enough IMO, or maybe a 72-minute day at max.

In rdr 4 seconds = 1 minute. And GTA IV was 2 seconds/1 minute, not 1 second/1 minute btw Edited May 26, 2013 by lolzz19

With GTA IV, Rockstar lengthened the day from the PS2 era, doubling the length of the day to 2 seconds = 1 minute. I'm not sure about RDR, but the days may have been even longer. I prefer longer days. I don't want day and night to speed by so quickly. It takes away from the immersion. More fool you for reading it Seriously no need to be like that This forum moves so quick, topics slide down fast a d tbh I haven't seen this discussed for a while. Get over yourself Gta IV did indeed double the minute length and rdr lengthened it again Personally I would like to see it extended my another minute or so but rdrs time cycle is sufficient. tinman187
They should make it 3 mins = 1 hour, therefore it would be 72 mins = 1 day. That would be perfect.

growsinwater
IMO, whatever it was in Red Dead Redemption, it was perfect. Agreed, just implement the RDR clock and call it a day. I loved the night time atmosphere in that game, can't wait to see it in this.

southparkmayor
In IV 3 real world seconds were 1 in game minute. so one in game hour is 180 real seconds or 3 real world minutes. that means the day cycle in GTA IV is 72 mins.

Ben73
I'd like 3 seconds to be 1 minute. Seams like a good balance. 4 seconds : 1 min is pushing it for too long.

.Emmi
2.5 minutes = 1 game hour would be best - 60 minutes 1 hour, would be one day in game then

kurvenflo
V should be like this or if not 10 seconds per 1 game minute I agree with you. Only if in-game hours take a while IRL, we are able to enjoy the beautiful sunsets properly. I hope it will be at least as it was in RDR.

98 in 1
V should be the same as RDR or 10 seconds per game minute That would mean a whole day would be 3 and a half hours long irl. That's a bit too long if you ask me. I think 3-4 seconds would be perfect, anything more than 5 would be too much. 1 second per minute - 24 minute days 2 seconds per minute - 48 minute days 3 seconds per minute - 72 minute days 4 seconds per minute - 96 minute days 5 seconds per minute - 120 minute days 6 seconds per minute - 144 minute days 7 seconds per minute - 168 minute days 8 seconds per minute - 182 minute days 9 seconds per minute - 196 minute days 10 seconds per minute - 210 minute days Minute is a weird word. HOW'S ANNIE?
Wouldn't it be a massive inconsistency with logic though? IV and V are in the same fictional universe so it would seem really weird if the days were somehow much longer in Los Santos than Liberty City. manu90mala
the time scale should be different in this game, 1 second cannot equal 1 minute anymore, given the larger map we are given. i mean, if I want to drive from los santos to blaine county, it could take up to 6-7 ingame hours maybe and that would be too much. flyboy7
like I said 4 min = 1 hr would be just right. Remember, there will be a lot more to see this time given the scale of the map. Plus you have underwater explorations. I'm too scared to go exploring at night
