Official General

That's why I wrote possible DLC exclusives. Plus a lot more people own Xboxes compared to in 2009 and it seems like casual gamers didn't really like IV too much and that could be the reason sales weren't as high as expected for the DLCs. GTA V is a lot more similar to San Andreas compared to IV and might attract a wider demographic. Who knows, that wasn't my main reason for choosing the 360 version anyway.

Well just get ready for the possibility of multiple discs. That's probably gonna be the only downside to your choice.

10 GB if you want to install it , that was the large thing for GTA IV but expect more for GTA V so 20 GB

Yeah that really sucks, that's the only bad thing about the 360 imo.

i think people won't mind deleting some space for installing the game and they will be ok cause it will be the last game they'll play for this gen

I'm pretty sure you'll still have to change discs even if you install.

I'll be getting the game on Xbox 360. For myself, I believe that the Xbox is a much more reliable system due to how many times my PS3's have broken due to overheating. While playing GTA IV on the PS3 I noticed that the game didn't look as good as the XBox 360 or PC versions and looking into this I found out that the game doesn't actually run at 720p at all but instead runs at about 680p instead. Textures are blurry and muddy while the screen looked liked it was covered in a thin layer of vaseline.

I'm sure they fixed this for EFLC as textures where more crisper and objects had much better definition. So for me, the Xbox 360 version is what I am purchasing. I don't exactly believe the "two disk" rumor due to GTA IV on PS3 clocking in at about 14GB while the Xbox 360 disc only holds about 8GB so Rockstar are using excellent compression methods to put the game on one disk which I'm sure they'll do again for GTAV.

Here's what we know: NOTHING.

Yes the X360 MAY have more discs. Yes, Multiplatform titles MAY have been better on the X360 in the past. Yes, the demo was shown on a PS3, yet the X360 version COULD be just as good. We really do not know if one version WILL BE superior.

Well, we know that PS3 won't be inferior this time, or they wouldn't have chosen it to demo the game on would they.

Good point. It's entirely possible R* simply choose to demo that version, because they know that their past games have had a slight edge on the X360. I honestly think we're looking at two extremely similar versions.

I just want to clearify something for all the 360 fanboys suggesting that you GET what you pay for, and a BETTER online connection when playing on the 360.

Most games on both console's run P2P.

So there will be no f*cking difference when playing Call of Duty on the 360 versus PS3.

People are so blind, and stupid when thinking that just because you throw 60 dollars at Microsoft you get a better connection?

It all comes down to internet providers, and what kind of connection you are running at your home.

It's a false incentive, made by Microsoft so they can justify the high price you pay for playing online.

Don't come and tell me there are no hackers on the 360, and yes the PSN was hacked and down for a month. But there is no difference in the way Sony and Microsoft are running their servers.

PSN= free

Xbox Live = pay for ads and "better" servers.

PS3 all day.

Every day. PS3 version will be (probably) the best. 360 version will sell more.

Yes, multiplayer in PS3 sucks, there were big crashes.

I've never experienced any trouble playing on PSN. That is because I pull host every single time. P2P.

so, this is a genuine question, I'm not looking for this to descend into some pointless fanboy'ism debate...

I'm fortunate enough to have both a 360 and a PS3 (along with a reasonable PC) - for GTA5 I have a slight quandary on which version I should choose to get it on, the reason for this is..

My 360 is currently in the living room, used by my daughter to jump around to a Kinnect game or two (ooff!) - I have previously preferred the 360, mainly due to I find the controller far more comfy than the PS3's and I have an Xbox live gold account. However, I rarely use it now since it's been commandeered, and when I do power it up it's deafening drive whir and lack of drive capacity (it's a surviving 20gb unit) starts to show it's age. I originally played GTA4, RDR and countless other games on it, it's been a trusty workhorse.  But, I cant see me playing GTA5 in the living room with wife and daughter watching, not really conducive to family life!

So, my PS3 (and PC) are in my bolt hole of an office, the PS3 has really not been used to it's full potential, partly because I preferred the 360, however, I have enjoyed the Uncharted series and a couple of others on it, I'm looking forward to getting The Last Of Us and will therefore be giving it a bit of use again soon (other than a BD player) - I would automatically choose the PS3 for GTA5 were it not for the controller and, from what I have read, RDR on the PS3 ran at 640p (as opposed to 720p on the 360). I have heard that MP3 ran at 720p on the PS3 - do you guys believe (the PS3 buffs) that GTA5 will also be scaled to 720p? I have no experience of what GTA4, or the expansions were like on the PS3 as I only had them on the 360 (and later on the PC)

Anyway, interested in your thoughts and suggestions (constructive ones please!)

Cheers  smile.gif

Your question isn't really between 360 or PS3, is it? The question is do you kick your daughter off your lounge console and banish her from the living room to play GTA:V or do you play quietly in the privacy of your office.

To be honest, I think you answered your own question.

As to whether GTA:V will be better on XBOX360 or PS3, no-one really knows until the game is released and they can be compared side by side. And it's even money that they'll be so identical that you'll have to pick hairs to identify differences. Looking back at GTA:IV won't tell you anything because it is so old, and it was their first stab at a major open world game built on RAGE on current gen consoles. Rockstar's games on current gen have improved since then, witness RDR and MP3.

I would say your options are these:

If you want to play on 360 so badly, do you have enough disposable income to afford a second 360? And will it be worth it?

Use your PS3, which won't cost you anything. Then if you want better quality, you have the option of going for the PC version if and when it comes out.

ha... yep, that's pretty much where I'm at!

To be honest, my options are as you you have pointed out. I doubt I will be buying a second 360 this close to the new generation launching, unless I can pick up a new version on the cheap, real cheap.

I probably will go with the PS3 version, less aggravation from wife/daughter, it's already plumbed in and is crying out to be used. Hopefully a good stint with The Last Of Us will help me settle into it again, in prep for GTAV.

And anyway, worst case is I either trade it in for the 360 version after a few days (unlikely!!) or hang on in for the PC version later down the road, which, I probably would do no matter what console I get it on this year.

Thanks to everyone for their replies.

Like I'm saying, when people pay 60 dollars to play online, they want to believe that money can give them a better experience.

FALSE INCENTIVE.

There might be more security messures on xbox, but there is no difference in the way they are running the servers / P2P work.

As I said I own both, and everything from downloading things, in-game ping or even loading the friends list is significantly faster on the 360. And regarding Call of Duty, have you ever played CoD4 on the PS3? It's absolutely awful and has been since launch, I don't know why but it has.

Also the 360 has party chat, which is HUGE.

The 360 has 512RAM vs 256 in the PS3, that's why its able to load friendslist faster. Party chat is also a good feature, I'm just stating that there is no difference in how the P2P system works.

I have played MW on PS3, and I can't say I experienced any lag?

Everyone except the host has a 2 bar most of the time. Plus, when I test my connection on my PC I get 240 down and 30 up, but when I test it on my PS3 I get 40 down and 6 up. I don't know if it has to do with the PS3 not supporting 802.11n or something?

I'm not sure, it's always best to run a cable. And to modify router settings.

I'm not saying you get nothing for the dollars you pay for gold, but P2P is the same thing on PS3/360.

I don't want this to turn into a console war hahaa biggrin.gif

The dude already has both, so blu ray dvd player doesn't matter.

And it doesn't matter how many discs the game comes on, it only matters whether there will be in-play disc swapping or not (hard to believe there will be).

I don't think it matters if PS3 is lead platform either. PS3 wasn't much worse than 360 in previous games, and I doubt 360 either console will be less than 720 this time.

All that matters really is your online play preference, and which controller you like most (and there are ways around the contoller issue)

I'd agree with that.

Ms does not deserve gamers money, now that they are focusing on the casual market (TV,sports all in one device).

http://www.redgamingtech.com/xbox-one-vs-p...nd-performance/

“We might see slightly smoother framerates on PS4,” he said. “We’re working with Sony right now, and they’re trying to actively push 60 frames per second, 1080p. You might get situations where the graphics will be a little, but not much, lower quality on the Xbox One. Or, you might get some fixed at 30 frames per second situations in 1080p. It depends on the scale of the game. If your game is going to push the heck out of the PS4, you might have to do some little tweaks [for the Xbox One version]. But if you design your game to work on Xbox One at 60, it’s going to work on PS4 at 60.”

Might be the wrong place to post this?

even though ill buy for 360.

i think MS is f*cking all there customers, with having us to pay for online play & the new xbox one will suck ass, i will defintely buy ps4.

but in general specs 360 is quite good, a little better than ps3 ? (if i remember right) just in specs ofc, then you have personal opinions on other different specs on the consoles, like controllers and such.
